But then I realized some of my most favorite times at the cabin are during inclement weather, since it's so peaceful and quiet there. We were initially very excited to have another international guest at our cabin! He paid on time and was responsive to the check-in and check-out times. Our Housekeeping crew did not report any issues with his family's stay, and we are glad they were able to enjoy the United States -- albeit perhaps with different cabin rental traditions than he may be used to.

Unfortunately, we cannot stock groceries in our cabin for guests, a fact which is noted in all of our listings and reiterated in our Welcome Packet which is sent to guests 2-4 weeks before their stay -- this simply cannot be done in a short-term rental home due to food safety regulations and time lags between guest visits in slow seasons. Before we bought our cabin and decided to share it with others, we also rented many cabins in the area. Those experiences helped us to find out what was the norm and what would be "that little extra touch" that would make our cabin special -- like complimentary dishwasher and laundry soap, shampoo and conditioner and soap for the bathrooms, and extra bathroom tissue and towels for our guests.

We do leave little notes around our cabin to help guests with operating the television remotes, the wi-fi access information, the computer login access information, etc. We were disappointed that our tongue-in-cheek "please enjoy our little laptop computer while you're here, and even though it's not brand new, we hope it doesn't accidentally find its way into our guests' suitcases, wink-wink!" humor must have been lost in translation.

We care greatly about our visitors and go the extra mile to ensure everyone has a wonderful stay. It's disappointing that it was misinterpreted, as it is clearly not our intent to assume folks are "thieves," and can only assume it was due to a language barrier.

We've rented our cabin for two years now, and by the stellar reviews on this site and (website hidden), it is clear that we cherish our guests who choose our cabin for their vacation getaways and who clearly recognize the extra effort we apply to Willow Ridge. We have to accept that this was a very unique and out-of-character review by a guest who must have set different expectations than what was advertised and offered by our beautiful home and our hospitality.
