The Neighborhood

Terrace House just out of gate and to left has some of the best Thai food on the island. Be patient though.
Jun Hom Seafood, just up the beach to the West is excellent for feet in sand lunches, sunset drinks and dinner.
For a great seafood meal, pre-shelled crab, Ko Seng in Mae Nam, though not if you want great ambiance.
Angela's Diner on the Ring Road just E. of Maenam is great for breakfast and baked goods.

Getting around

You can call Coconut Resorts CR and ask for transport, go to road and wave down a taxi or hop in the back of a jeepney. All possible. I sometimes rent a car from Avis for THB1,400 (US$43) per day, or a motor bike which can be delivered to the property.

  • Pros: Beautiful house with plenty of room for 6 adults (3 couples). The location right on the beach was perfect. We were in walking distance of most everything we needed. You can request to have a Thai home-cooked meal made in your kitchen. We ended up doing this 3 nights because the food was so delicious. When we emailed her, Katharina was quick to reply and meet our requests.

Cons: Upon our arrival to the house (about 7:30 pm), we were a bit disappointed to find that there was very little information for guests. We found out later there was supposed to be a folder of information in our house that had gone missing. Management was not able give us another copy (digital or electronic). There was a placard listing available services and phone numbers, but the house did not have telephone service. On our first morning, we were able to find groceries, a rental car and laundry service nearby on our own.

Despite the initial lack of information, I would recommend this property. The view from the little cabana where I spent most of my time was perfect. I didn't want to leave!

  • Truly a beautiful house in a wonderful location.

The start of our trip was a disaster. We couldn't find the place and had to spend our first night in an hotel. Even the locals couldn't find it. The address given on the website appears to bear no relationship to the actual location of the villa. For reference the villa is part of a resort complex called "Coconut Paradise. After contacting Peter and thence the local agent, we moved in on Day 2 and spent a relaxing 6 days unwinding. The actual cost of transport to/from the airport and the major supermarkets (500) Baht) is more than is implied on the website (200Baht).

The villa is very well appointed, the beds & furniture comfortable and the whole complex is immaculately kept. The cleaning staff came in twice while we were there to sweep up / mop the floors and change the bed linen & towels. The beach, which is very clean, is literally right on the doorstep.

All the cooking equipment one may need is provided if you want to 'eat in'. There is a Family Mart (a local convenience store chain) within easy walking distance but we made a run to the main supermarket on Day 2 to stock up on general groceries, milk, bread, breakfast cereal, coffee, baby food, beer & wine, etc. The supermarket is well stocked with 'international' food stuffs as well as local produce.

Then we laid back and relaxed - and this is the place to do it. There's nothing quite like sitting on an open deck in a comfortable chair with a glass of wine listening to the chatter of the kids on the beach, the waves lapping on the shore and the rustle of wind in the palm trees

To the right, looking out to sea from the deck, there are a couple of beach bars/restaurants close by ( ~200 meters) and on the left, with a bit of a longer walk, any number of restaurants serving both local and 'international' (mostly German or Italian) food. We only went into "town" once, to a place called "Fisherman's Village". It's a bit of a 'tourist trap' but lots of nice eateries, pubs & clubs if that's what you like.

In summary, this is a great place to chill-out. We'd go back and stay longer.

  • We spent a week in a company of 8. The villa is a wonderful 2-storey wooden family house first line on the beach. Everything was as described. Peter's agent Katharina organized for transfers from/to the airport. You can take taxi services via Katharina as well, but they may forget you ordered it. There is a welcoming drink in the fridge. We had a problem with a tube in a bath which was fixed by the end of the day. The villa is in a peaceful quite private location, there is a good massage salon Sunee Massage on the road. You will need/take a ride to the market place. The nearby restaurants are Thai style. The food will be ok if you are used to spicy food, otherwise you may have stomach problems. There is a kayak in the house which we very much enjoyed. The internet is not superfast, but we could dnld a 1,37 gb movie in 3-4 hours. There is a little library and some movies to watch in the evening. Overall, we loved the place and consider it one of the best choices. Perfect for a family, good for a company of friends.

  • We spent seven nights over Christmas at Peter's beautiful villa. There were seven of us, 4 from South African and 3 from Australia, including two children and 87 year old granny. The villa is exactly as described on Airbnb and more. There was so much space, with beautifully appointed and comfortable furniture and views to die for. We enjoyed lounging on the veranda, having morning tea in the gazebo and leisurely lunches at one of the two dining areas. We all agreed that we could become addicted to walking along the beach barefoot to supper at the two lovely restaurants nearby. The pool is big and beautifully maintained, along with the lush tropical gardens. We had the most super holiday and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle for a family holiday.

  • We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a lovely, spacious place for 5 adults. Gorgeous views, beautiful location, awesome pool ... it was an amazing vacation for us in Samui. We spent lots of time in the veranda area outside, enjoying the sound of the sea and the ocean breezes. The pool was a big hit with everyone, and the fact that the beach was simply a few steps away from the house was amazing. We had a great time.

  • Six friends and I stayed in this lovely home for 3 days and couldn't have had a better time. Katharina, the property manager, was so helpful and responded to my texts at any time. She arranged taxis, gave us restaurant recommendations, and even arranged for a wonderful massage for all of us one morning in the comfort of the home! The home was comfortable, well stocked with the the necessary appliances, and simply beautiful. Directly on the ocean away from large hotels or restaurants, we were able to enjoy the ocean, pool, kayak, and arrange a day trip to Ko Tao. It was a great time and much more unique and relaxing than any hotel could have been. Thanks so much!

  • We had a great stay here. The villa was exactly as the described and as the pictures showed. Right on the beach and next to the resort pool. There was 2 families sharing another villa when we arrived but they left the next day so we had the pool to ourselves. Unfortunately the currents changes and there was a lot of seaweed washing up on shore and the water was very cloudy so we were not able to enjoy the beach. Our children loved the pool area though. We had been on the beaches on Koh Tao for a week so the great pool area was exactly what the kids needed. Kat, who works for the resort was great help in arranging a rental car for a great price and giving us a map that she marked for us with the areas we had asked her about. Great stay and great villa.
