This refurbished delightful Victorian property is situated in the heart of the bustling village of Bowness, a short stroll from the shores of Lake Windermere and Bowness Bay.

The space
We have gone to great efforts to keep things minimal but yet afford all guests the comfort of a modern holiday home and it has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, with everything you would require for a relaxing stay in the lakes.
Leading off the entrance hall is the boot room, with ample storage for all your outdoor gear. The large and spacious lounge with widescreen TV, has a selection of DVD's and board games to keep you entertained in the evenings, (sorry but these are not currently available due to the Covid-19 situation). A large bay window overlooking the village, sofas and an electric fire make the lounge very comfortable and inviting. The modern kitchen / dining area has been restyled to allow for enjoyable evenings dining in and is well equipped with all the usual facilities, including a dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave and an adjoining utility room, which house the washer and dryer along with further storage. Please note that the laundry facilities are only available to those guests staying 5 nights or more.
The large and spacious family bathroom is fully tiled has a WC, wash basin and a separate bath and double shower cubical. Next to this is the first of our Kingsize bedrooms with large wardrobe.
Onto the next floor, leading off the landing area there is twin bedroom, double bedroom and master Kingsize bedroom with en-suite. Each of the bedrooms are very bright and airy. Views of the lake and nearby fells can be glimpsed from many of the upper floor bedrooms. The twin bedroom can have up to 2 extra beds made up to allow 4 people sleeping in the same room and enabling 10 people to stay in the house. There is an extra charge of £25.00 per night per person over 8 people or for each extra bed provided.

If you need more space, we have another 1 bedroom property next to Holland's with wonderful views up the lake to the Langdales and Fairfield.

Rubbish

There are two single, black, wheelie bins in the yard for your rubbish. Please do not put anything in any other bin that might be in the yard.

Guest access
Entrance through the gate to a small yard with access to a secure under stairs bike storage and recycling area. From the yard there are external steps which lead to the house entrance and small balcony area with furniture.

Please note that because of the steps up to the front door and balcony, the property is not accessible by wheelchair.

Other things to note
Garden Area - There are steps up across the garden from the entrance level to a patio and large garden table at the top of the garden. On fine days the patio provides lovely views southwards across the village and Lake Windermere to Bowness Bay, Belle Isle and beyond and northwards up the lake to the Langdale Pikes and Loughrigg. The garden and patio may be used at your own risk but please be careful. There are steep drops and sharp edges and because of these children should not be left to play unattended. Please do not leave the pathways or climb on, over or through the fences as they are there to protect you from potentially dangerous areas. Thank you.

On occasion you might see our gardener working in the garden. We try to minimise any disruption to our guests but gardening is influenced by the weather and a busy schedule and so we hope that you will not mind if a gardening visit coincides with your stay.


Please, please recycle. There are boxes for plastic, glass and cans, cardboard and paper, in the yard by the entrance gate. You will also find two wheelie bins for general non-recyclable waste there.

Neighborhood highlights

Many visitors have come to love the bustling atmosphere around the picturesque village of Bowness and with a wonderful selection of places to eat and drink, you will be spoiled for choice. There is an abundance of local walks that can be started straight from the house. The nearest is Brantfell which affords amazing views of Lake Windermere. Lake Windermere is a short stroll away with ample supply of water activities and cruises which run all year round. There is information on local walks and other activities in the Information Folder in the living room.
Immediately across the road from Holland's there is a Cooperative supermarket, open until 10pm and at the bottom of Crag Brow, there is a Tesco Express, which is open until 11pm. There are a range of restaurants within easy walking distance, the neared being just across the road. Coffee shops abound with the excellent #4, (also great for breakfast), just next door, The Coffee Bean a bit further on up the hill and a Costa Coffee at the bottom of the hill near Tesco.
