Basic bedroom (converted living room) in a cute little house in the medina. Perfect for those looking for budget accommodation and basic facilities in a great location less than 10min away by foot from the Square. Sunny terrace. Three house cats.
The bedroom (converted living room) is in the groundfloor by the kitchen. Window on street view level. Two bedside table (one with lamp), one coffee table, one wardrobe. Not visible on the photos, but several spots on the wall with peeling paint. Thick inside curtain on door and window to keep the room isolated from the cold in winter and the heat in summer so it stays comfortable without any major devices.
The house is small but comfortable enough.
There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen and a terrace which serves as a sunny lounge room. Also shaded area to cope with the heat of Marrakesh.
With the room comes access to internet, kitchen with fridge and washing machine, bathroom and sunny terrace with space to hang your clothes to dry.
The room comes also with towels and bedlinen, so you can use that space on your suitcase for something else.
Interaction with Guests
I live in the house as well so expect to interact a lot with me (and my cats). I like to go and meet the person at the square (or some other place nearby) to walk them to house so as to show the way there.
As this is also my house there are something to consider:
- Whether we become friends, housemates or keep a "guest" and "host" relationship depends on a lot of things like time of your stay, whether you come alone or in couple and general "feeling". Whatever happens, respect for each other's space (whether physical or personal) remains essential.
- I may ask you to feed the cats if I go away for some days (this is, of course, not mandatory, but, in case you say no, there will be somebody from outside the house coming in everyday to do it).
- There are no locks for the rooms. The only key is the one for the front door.
The Mouassine neighborhood is in the center of the medina and offers many activities.
There are a lot of groceries, souvenirs and handicraft shops in the area, as well as restaurants and cafés.
It is also known for hosting many picturesque arches and part of the souks.
The house can be only reached by foot or motorbike or bycicle. The closest place to get a taxi is Bab Laqsour about 5 min away by foot. The square of Jema El Fna where you can get taxis and city buses is less than 10 min away. The closest bus station is at Bab Doukkala about 15 min away.
Other Things to Note
The house is cleaned weekly by a professional cleaning lady and I do some tidying up in between.
Be nice to my cats and respectful to the neighbours.
During your stay, your room's cleanliness is your responsibility. If you are not going to help with the cleaning of the common spaces, at least, keep them as you found them.
If you want to bring your own guests, for the evening or to sleep over, please, inform me before. I believe you will agree I have the right to know who comes to my house other than the ones who booked with me.
Smoking allowed on the terrace only.
I have had a lovely 17 day stay with Patricia. She's a lovely girl, I feel we got to know and respect eachother. The house is lovely. The location more than perfect in the most beautifull aria of the medina. I loved the animals which by now are 4 cats and a puppydog. You have got to love them but I feel it is to much for the house. I know Patricia is looking for new housing for some of them. Want to see Marrakesh at it's best at a real fair price, stay here.
I stayed at Patricia's for two months while I was in Marrakech for work. Patricia is a friendly host and roommate. The house is basic but comfortable and cleaned top to bottom by a housekeeper every other week. Its location, right in the heart of the medina, yet quiet and still at walking distance from the ville nouvelle, is perfect. Don't stay here if you don't like cats or if you expect to be treated like a guest all the time. All in all, this place is great value for money if you are looking for short-term housing in Marrakech from abroad.
I stayed in Patricia’s house for 3 months and it was wonderful. The room is spacious and quiet and the location of the house is just perfect, in the heart of the medina close to everything you need and only a few minutes walking from Jema El Fna. Patricia herself is a great host/roommate and very helpful & relaxed. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Patricia is a respectful and friendly hostess. Her place has a great location in the medina, close to all tourist sites as well as shops, restaurants, cafes...it was a different experience than staying in an riad / hotel and a very positive one!
Patricia's place is well located in the old medina but is quiet. The price was great. Elephant and Mouse were also good housemates. Being able to use the kitchen and clothes washer were nice features.
This is a good place to bookmark.
Patricia is a very sweet person & although it was on very short notice, she was able to let me in smoothly.
The place is centrally located but if you are scared of walking alone at night in dark allies, you will have issues going out late at night. This is an issue with all places located in old medina.
I took the room in the ground floor so it felt like the kitchen, washing machine & bathroom were all mine :D
I liked the fact that I could smoke there because riads have an open ceiling in the middle (but this make it quite cold at night)
