Suspended in a fairy ring of giant redwood trees, this treehouse is the ultimate romantic retreat. This large suite designed by an architect has spacious decks for lounging, a living room with a skylight and a luxurious four poster king looking out over the trees. Your stay includes a "wake up tray" delivered to your hoisting basket daily, followed by our full farm breakfast. Perfect for special occasions, honeymoons and romantic reconnections. Vax only, no kids, no pets, no smoking resort.

The space
The treehouse was designed by an architect, with an eye for privacy and luxury. Using the latest suspension systems (as seen on Treehouse Masters), the treehouse is more of a tree mansion, 14 feet off the ground in a giant redwood Fairy Ring. It is lit with romantic nighttime lighting.

In the treehouse, a spacious living room, mini fridge, separate bedroom and fireplace await you. Large, wraparound decks are perfect for sitting and lounging under the gigantic redwoods. We spoil you with a premium king bed and fine linens. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. Even in the cool evenings, our open air outdoor shower has plenty of hot water. (Sorry, no cooking facilities in the treehouse or on premises.) Fresh flowers and chocolates and complimentary seltzers are included.

FlipJack Ranch is a farm to table bed and breakfast, so the included breakfasts are based on seasonal ingredients foraged on the ranch or locally. And the breakfasts are incredible! Always fresh fruit, a delicious egg dish from our free range hens, perhaps something foraged, well crafted meats, fresh baked scones or an apple galette, homemade jams, etc. We take pride in our cuisine and delight in sharing ranch specialties with our guests.

We have high hygiene standards at our very small 4 room BnB. In response to COVID-19, we are following best practices of increased cleaning and disinfecting from the CDC, Santa Cruz Health Department and the California Hotel and Lodging Association.

Other services available with 7 day advance request:
Upgraded chocolates and flowers for special occasions
Welcome cheese and fruit platter
Ranch classes: fly fishing, canning and preserving, seasonal mushroom foraging Nov-March, watercolor painting at the beach.

Where you’ll be

Santa Cruz, California, United States

Very rural area with pastures and redwood forests. Do not attempt to find this on your own, get directions in advance. Just 3 miles to Pacific Ocean Beaches, 20 minutes to the conveniences and dining of Santa Cruz. Farm markets and U-Pick Berry farms close by. Hiking trails with views of the ocean or deep exploration of the redwoods close by. Or just walk over to the local vineyard for wine tasting.

My love of food, cooking, wine and art has lead me on a lifelong journey. Years ago, I was a restauranteur in Chicago, then a full time studio potter, then a career in corporate sales and marketing.

I've traveled extensively, usually on a quest to find indigenous, traditional regional foods. Desert beans in India, grilled squid from a street vendor in Hong Kong, fresh rambutan in Thailand, black mole in Mexico, and hay soup in Austria are just a few memorable tastes. I am inspired by these experiences and I cook with international flavors.

A few years ago, I began to dream about having a farm where I could produce more of the foods, meats, and wines that I love. That dream came true when we bought FlipJack Ranch. Ranch life suits me, waking up to gather fresh eggs, cuddling the baby chicks and baby bunnies, walking out to see the garden with a cup of coffee in hand. The whole 'farm to table' thing is real here on the ranch and the sustainable, organic and free range food products are my inspiration for daily menus. I love to forage too, here or nearby, bringing back mushrooms, salad greens or mussels for the table.

As a traveler myself, I value warm hospitality and those little things that make a stay memorable. I love it when I can go to a place and just unwind, assured that everything is there and I can just relax. I hope to make your stay with us memorable.
