My love of food, cooking, wine and art has lead me on a lifelong journey. Years ago, I was a restauranteur in Chicago, then a full time studio potter, then a career in corporate sales and marketing.
I've traveled extensively, usually on a quest to find indigenous, traditional regional foods. Desert beans in India, grilled squid from a street vendor in Hong Kong, fresh rambutan in Thailand, black mole in Mexico, and hay soup in Austria are just a few memorable tastes. I am inspired by these experiences and I cook with international flavors.
A few years ago, I began to dream about having a farm where I could produce more of the foods, meats, and wines that I love. That dream came true when we bought FlipJack Ranch. Ranch life suits me, waking up to gather fresh eggs, cuddling the baby chicks and baby bunnies, walking out to see the garden with a cup of coffee in hand. The whole 'farm to table' thing is real here on the ranch and the sustainable, organic and free range food products are my inspiration for daily menus. I love to forage too, here or nearby, bringing back mushrooms, salad greens or mussels for the table.
As a traveler myself, I value warm hospitality and those little things that make a stay memorable. I love it when I can go to a place and just unwind, assured that everything is there and I can just relax. I hope to make your stay with us memorable.
