Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Tucked away on a quiet street a block from the plaza, this charming apartment is the cozy get away you've been looking for. Truly a hidden jewel.

The space
Best Casita is a hidden jewel only a block from Taos Plaza. It is part of a historical hacienda style adobe that once housed nuns working at a church nearby that burned down in the 60's. Newly and tastefully renovated, the interior was designed with comfort and convenience in mind, and it features high ceilings, a well appointed kitchen, oak floors, a kiva fireplace, and a cozy living area. An old apple tree and a plum tree stand in a small, grassy courtyard that feels almost Mediterranean in it's serenity. It is located on a quiet one-way street only one block west of the Taos plaza.

Gas range and a large collection of cooking supplies. Nespresso machine with milk frother, French press, drip coffee maker. Toaster oven, panini press. French door refrigerator, microwave. Full size washer and dryer, heated bathroom floor, a gas heating stove and a kiva fireplace. Electric baseboard heater in bedroom, ceiling fans. Premium linens and a down comforter and pillows; a comfortable plush/firm queen mattress. Full sleeper sofa with memory foam topped mattress. High speed internet, HDTV, YouTubeTV, Blue Ray/DVD player, surround sound entertainment system, NetFlix and Amazon Prime streaming, Pandora/Spotify/Apple Airplay ready stereo system. Small wall safe, hair dryer. Large selection of books and games (backgammon, chess, dominoes, Scrabble, Apples to Apples, Old Maid, Memory, Anomia, Bananagrams, cards).

The location of the apartment is one of it's greatest assets. From the front door, a five minute walk will reach twelve restaurants, dozens of galleries, the best coffee in town (The World Cup), Shree Yoga Studio, Smith's grocery store, the Bent Street shopping district, Ledoux Street, and of course, the Taos Plaza.

No additional cleaning fee.

I'm the luckiest guy I know. I'm truly thankful to have the privilege to be able to travel often and far. I've been welcomed into people's homes all over the world, and though I've been fairly nomadic much of my life, I have put down roots in Taos and have acquired three apartments next to the plaza, which I have renovated and am offering as getaways for fellow travelers to enjoy. I grew up in Snyder, Texas, surrounded by pumpjacks and fields of cotton. In the summers when I was a kid, my family would pile into the GoodTimes van and hit the road for weeks, escaping the 110 degree West Texas heat: Vermont, Florida, Wyoming, northern California, and all in between. When I was fourteen I spent a summer in Germany on an exchange program, and since then I've been hooked on travel. I studied biology and writing in college and after graduating worked for the Fish & Wildlife Department in Alaska for a summer. I then worked in Nicaragua as a carpenter for over a year and slowly made my way to Taos, New Mexico, where I've lived for almost twenty years. My most ambitious journey was a 16-month solo motorcycle trip around the world. I drove west to Seattle, flew my motorcycle to Tokyo, and made my way to Siberia, west through northern Asia and the Middle East, south through Africa to CapeTown, then north through West Africa to Morocco. After a couple months in Europe, I flew the BMW to New Jersey and drove back home to Taos; 50 countries, 500 days, 46,000 miles. Taos has a lot to offer for a lover of the outdoors like myself. I spend a lot of time in the nearby mountains, skiing, hiking with my dogs, fishing, biking, and motorcycling. I've always enjoyed many sports, and I regularly play soccer, tennis, pickleball, and volleyball.
