  • Our stay in Portland was FANTASTIC largely due to the wonderful accommodation's at Anne's place. Anne gave us great instructions for checking in. Her home is in a beautiful area, with a deck and view of the Mountains. It is a VERY peaceful place to stay and beautifully decorated. The guest suite is very spacious with a comfortable bed. Anne's home is not further than 20" away from anything. I absolutely loved our stay at Anne's and would stay again.

  • Anne's place is superb. It's quiet and secluded with forest and coast range views, yet 7 minutes from downtown Portland. She made my wife and I feel right at home. I highly recommend staying with Anne.

  • I am late in submitting this review but hey better late than never! We stayed at Anne's place for a couple of nights in July before heading to the coast. We had a wonderful time in Portland because of her hospitality and all the tips that she gave us for sightseeing around the city and the Columbia Gorge area. It was very helpful for the short time we spent there. The accommodation was also very comfortable and the small private bathroom was a bonus and the DIY breakfast was great. Lovely views from the property and very centrally located. We would not hesitate to book this cottage again if we ever visit Portland again. Thanks Anne for the hospitality and all the extras you did for us. Hope our paths cross again in the future.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Annes. Together with her little visitor - a lovely little pet cat. She gave us great advise for our stay in Portland.

The room was really charming, with a small ensuite bathroom that had everything we needed.

A DIY breakfast was provided which was just perfect for us.

We enjoyed our nice discussions over a glass of fresh orange juice.

We would always come back to stay with her on our next visit to portland and would recommend her highly to friends and famiy.

So kind of you to respond this way. I would also be very happy to see you return! I enjoyed our conversations very much as well. Happy travels.

  • I had a very relaxing, comfortable stay at Anne's "Retreat". Staying at Anne's was a most welcome and enjoyable time as she is very concerned about your having a pleasant experience. Very quiet, clean, roomy space. Can't wait to be hosted by Anne again.

  • Anne is wonderful and I love her space. Anywhere you look inside or outside her home you see beauty. I think the bed is more comfortable than my own. She went out of her way to help me find what I wanted to see on the rest of my trip. It exceeded my expectations.

Good news about Eugene catching your attention as a possible place to relocate. I lived there many memorable years. Best of luck in your travels Maggie.

  • Anne is a gracious host and has a beautiful house in the hills west of Portland about 10-15 minutes from downtown. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, thanks Anne!! :-)

  • My ~1 month stay with Anne was extremely memorable. It was in every way an A-plus experience! You see I relocated to Portland to start a new job and I was staying with her while I searched for an apartment. Anne was extremely generous with her time as she made time every evening to inquire about my job and new experiences that day. I looked forward to coming home in the evening to great dinner conversations with an especially good listener! She made me dinner quite a few times and introduced me to some of the best home-made cereal I have ever had. It takes 8 hours to bake this stuff, but it is so good! During one of the weekends Anne volunteered to come out and help me with the apt search. Boy, did we have great adventures while doing that! The next weekend she came with me furniture shopping and she helped pick a great bed and couch. Anne has a beautiful garden that she invests a lot of time and effort in taking care of. It is the most beautiful garden on her block. I could go on on about Anne, but you get the picture! She is beyond awesome!!

  • Anne is a lovely and friendly host. She did everything possible for my comfort, including shopping for my very bizarre diet (after I told her that I would provide my own food). Favorite moments include sitting on her patio enjoying her garden and the spectacular view. Note to other light sleepers: this is a quiet house in a quiet neighborhood.

  • I had a wonderful experience at Rose Cottage. I couldn't have asked for a nicer host. I had never been to Portland and she picked me up at the rail station! The room was extremely comfortable and I slept better in the bed than in my own. I would highly recommend staying here, especially if you are looking for something close to OHSU. It was like staying at a relative's house, much better than staying in a hotel! Thanks, Anne, and I will stay in touch.

About
I grew up in north central Washington in a large family in the foothills of the North Cascade Mountains before moving to Portland in the 1960's. I love the natural world, birds, gardens, outdoor music festivals, dancing, playing my autoharp and singing. I cook, take long walks, and create beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces with my Feng Shui business. I have painted quite a few intricate mandalas with gouache and enjoy drawing portraits. I have a simple eclectic spiritual practice and view of the world. I love to practice healthy communication and I am a part-time counselor in private practice.
