About this listing
I am offering a room for rent with a queen size bed in a clean furnished three bedroom one bath home with laundry room, and spacious kitchen/living room. The front door is usually left open for airflow, but can be closed and or locked upon request. There is also a furnished back patio for smokers or people who just want to cruise outside and enjoy Kauai's fresh air. The house is an older house. Also have a small hangout spot on the roof which is great for sunsets and starry nights. The neighborhood and house are typically quiet at night except for the sounds of the occasional farm animals, and passing cars. It is common friends and company to come by and visit. Guests are also welcome to have visitors. We like to keep a friendly and social enviroment. There are also friendly dogs, goats and pigs on the property behind the house. Old town Kapaa and bus stops are about 15 minute walk away. I have many ties with private hiking guides, horseback tours, photo tour guides, kayak guides, photographers, yoga instructors, tahitian dancers, belly dancers, fire dancers, kayak guides, zip-line tour guides and concierges who can help you get the most out of your Kauai experience.
bathroom, kitchen, living room, back patio, garage, yard, and roof for star gazing. (everything except my room)
Interaction with Guests
This is a place for friendly, easy going, low maintenance travelers. Typically I will see guest in the morning before they set out on adventures and I try to give them ideas and pointers on places to go and things to do. Then we see each other at night and share about the events of the day. Other interaction depends my schedule and your personality. If im available and a guest seems outgoing and wants to chat, have drinks, share meals, or go on an adventure, I love to experience new people. Sometimes guest, seem to want to be left to do their own thing, so I just be as accommodating as possible, and let them have their space.
Typically a quiet neighborhood just outside of town, so it has a rural feel but not secluded. I have one close neighbor, my long time friend Adam and his wife Elena who live next door. Many field of goats and cows. Many people use my road as a back road to get to and from work. So at certain hours traffic does pick up a little.
Bus stop is about a mile away. I also have an old bike that i loan out
Please just be kind, respectful, and use common sense. and take your shoes off before you come in. Nights on kauai can be quiet and sound travels easy, so be especially respectful of others who may be trying to sleep. mahalo!
I enjoyed my stay very much - even if it was quite to short. I recommend at least a stay of 3 full days n this beautiful island. Evan and the other guys around are awsome hosts - they can give you nice recommendations what to visit. The place is clean and quite as described.
Great place to stay! Within an hour to all parts of the island! Evan was helpful with all recommendations and is very accommodating. We would def stay there again! Thanks Evan!!
I liked the house a lot! Area is mostly quiet and other individuals in house were respectful. Evan is a good host as well. Sat down and talked for a bit here and there, but he is fairly busy (not a bad thing.) description is accurate, stargazing area is awesome ^_^
Evan is a nice guy who answers all of your questions. The room is small but still big enough for 2 people. Good new laundry machine and a dryer. Very useful.
I stayed at Evan's house with my sister. She didn't liked it as much as I did. But yeah she's fussy. Evan has a lots of insider tips so if you are into doing more than just relaxing at the beach it might be good to stay there. I would recommend him.
This was my first time using Airbnb and my first trip to Kaua'i... and it couldn't have gone any better. Evan was a great host and his lodging was just what I was looking for.
I went to Kaua'i to visit a couple of friends, so I pretty much had a planned trip day-to-day: I leave early in the morning and come back late at night. The room was perfect for that lifestyle: clean, spacious, and has a very comfortable bed to sleep on. Evan made you feel at home.. and it really felt as if I was just leaving my own room back in Waipahu to do my daily activities.
I felt that his place in Kapa'a is the perfect home base to tour the island. I was all over Kaua'i- south, west, and north- and the drive to each location was manageable. Also, Kapa'a has a 24-hr Safeway which is very convenient for those late night cravings! The house itself is located in a rural part of the town and it reminded me of my old hometown in the Philippines. Awesome location.
Because of my schedule, I only spoke to Evan in short meetings before I leave the house or after I came back, usually to talk about my plans or what I did that day... that is until my last night on the island. I arrived earlier than usual (~5:30 pm) and had a free night to work on my class syllabus. Evan arrived shortly after and introduced me to some of his friends. He then gave me a cold beer (with a chilled mug may I add) and invited me to have a few drinks with them in town. At first I politely passed.. but then he reminded me that I was in vacation! So I said- yea, f*ck it, let's go! And I'm glad that I did!! The place was pretty chill and I got to meet some of his friends who are very cool and friendly even though we just met. It was definitely one of the better nights of my trip. Thanks Evan for inviting me along. He was an excellent host.
Overall, it was a great experience to stay at Evan's. I met other Airbnb'ers (Edmund & Hilga and Mike & Lindsey), got to experience a non-touristy part of Kaua'i, and last but not least made some new friends. So to you- Evan, Mr. Miyagi, Amy Two-watch, Amberlyn, Charissa, Elena, Adam, Nicholas, Dylan, Mick, Jul, Matt (was there a Matt?), Chris (I think his name was Chris...), Olivia the Bartender, and all the rest that I was too drunk to remember the names but can clearly remember their faces-- I raise my literal glass of beer and from the bottom of my full-sized aortic pump would like to say...
THANK YOU FOR A MARVELOUS TIME.
It was an awesome trip, and I would definitely come back. 'Til we meet again.. Stay Awesome.
Great place to stay, the bed was very comfortable and my room was clean with space for hanging and laying out clothes. Excellent location, in the middle of everything on the island!
Evan was very hospitable and easy going. Overall a great experience, I would definitely stay there again next time.
It was a fantastic and fun experience for me!!
Evan was an extremely friendly and welcoming host. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with him.
His home has everything you would need for a comfortable stay in Kauai.
