The Space

Welcome to our comfortable and cozy condominium located in Guanacaste, between Playa Samara and Playa Carrillo. You can actually walk to these beaches in 4-20 minutes depending on the final destination (and how fast you walk, of course!) This condo is perfect for 3 adults or even a couple with two small children as the sofa in the kitchen area pulls out and becomes a sofa bed.

The condo is part of the Monte Laguna Residence, which is described by TripAdvisor as "excellent". It was built in 2010 and offers complete peace of mind with 24 hours full security guarded gates. The Residence features beautiful greenery and a natural lush environment, In addition, it has its own well, waste water management system, children's play area, and shaded parks.

Features of the accommodation include:

Second floor location (there is an elevator), an entrance with closet, a shower with separate toilet, and a fully equipped kitchen/living area. There is a spacious bedroom with a good sized balcony, large enough to eat in and relax. The condo has ceiling fans and AC. The kitchen is complete with cooking utensils, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The outdoor features include a large pool, gazebo, deck/patio, and a charcoal grill.

Staying in our condo will give you the chance to enjoy multiple activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, cycling, snorkeling, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife observing, golfing, rafting, kayaking, miniature golf, zoo,and many more. However, you can always just relax by the beautiful pool while enjoying the peaceful green surroundings.

About Samara and Carrillo:

Samara and Carrillo are small coastal towns, still mostly run and populated by Ticos. The atmosphere can be described as somewhat bohemian, very laid back and in a nut shell: PURA VIDA. You will find public schools (as well as a new semi-private bilingual one - Samara Pacific School), a hospital clinic, a private English speaking doctor, pharmacies, churches, 2 banks, 2 football grounds, a police station, dvd shop, postal office and a small fishing community. There are also several internet cafes, various restaurants and bars, coffee shops, tour agencies, car rental enterprises, and two commercial centers. A gym and organic food store opened recently and they host a farmers market every Friday from 3-6

Two internationally acclaimed schools, one for learning Spanish, the other, the art of massage are also based in Samara.

Last but not least, just a 45 minute drive away is Nicoya, (a rather large city for Costa Rican standards), that has most everything you could need -including a hospital.

  • Truly the best deal! $75 is a great price for safety, autonomy, beauty, and cleanliness. Both the apartment and surrounding property are lovely and well maintained. There is a boutique hotel that shares the main driveway with the condo. This is great in case you need emergency assistance, or if you wish to grab lunch or dinner nearby. The condo manager lives on site and also manages the boutique hotel next door. In case you're worried about autonomy, this little story should put you at ease: I played some music on the balcony on Thursday night. Around 9 pm the gate attendant asked me to take the music inside. Once I moved the music indoors and closed the terrace doors, there were no more issues. If you have a family this should also put you at ease because the staff is attentive and responsive to any noise concerns (it is not a party resort). The WiFi is strong and super consistent (I streamed movies and (website hidden)d throughout my entire stay). The kitchen is large, open and well stocked (pots, pans, utensils) and the balcony with a separate dining area is wonderful for any meal (especially since there are little to no bugs!). TIP: the front door does not have an automatic slam lock (probably to prevent you from locking yourself out); for this reason you must turn the key and lock the door while you are inside and when you leave in order for the apartment to be secure. One time I forgot, leaving the door open all day long, but everything remained untouched. THERE ARE NEXT TO NO BUGS (just one minuscule spider in the bathroom and a gnat or two), which is incredible to me because nearby Tamarindo (2 hours away) was infested with them as was Puerto Viejo (Caribbean coast). I assumed that every place in Costa Rica was infested due to the tropical climate. In Samara, you'll find unsaddled horses exploring the streets/beaches and dolphins playing in the waves near Isla Chora; it is a beautiful place. Since safety is always my number one concern abroad, I enjoyed staying 5 minutes outside of town (by car). The community is private and the entire property is gated. Also, living outside of the city center prevented anyone from following my daily "routine" as I attended daily classes at the local language school, Intercultura (also amazing!). Samara is clean and safe (I drove home at all times of night) but as a New Yorker (born and raised) I have a habit of thinking in terms of safety precautions. When you return after dark the gates are closed, but you can always drive 10 additional ft to the entrance to the boutique hotel and usually that is open. If that entrance is closed, idle for 2 minutes and the gate attendant (who magically heard you drive up) will open the gates for you. Honestly, for $75 you can't beat the privacy, the safety, or the aesthetics. When I return to...

  • The apartment is in super great location. She is very clean and tastefully decorated. Our children loves the pool very much. To the beach you need to walk about 10 minutes. We liked it.

Together with my small family, made up of a lovely wife and two great children, we have visited many places and different countries. The exposure to different cultures just fascinates me. When we visit a country, we spend time visiting museums, theaters, historical sites,..etc. But we also love to just walk in the streets, try to chat with the "natives"! and have coffee in coffee bars. I also love to visit the local markets, and sample street food, while my wife is on her shopping expeditions :-) In addition to traveling, we LOVE reading. We read everything, fiction, biography, politics, economy, adventure...and of course, travel books, and my wife has a large collection of cook books. The problem now is that books in our house are advancing slowly to take over all our living space....HELP!
