Cozy 1 person bedroom in a spacious 3 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. This room has a twin bed which is perfect for one person. It has a nice sized closet next to the entranceway of the room, with a nightstand dresser inside. One large window right at the head of the bed, which provides great light during the day. There are two other bedrooms in this apartment. I work a lot from home, drawing and some sewing, so I am home a lot working in the living room. We have a beautiful, large living room with exposed brick on one wall and some comfy couches for lounging. Our large couch in the living room pulls out into a bed, so some times my I will have guests stay over in the living room, but not on a regular basis. The living room is meant for all to share and enjoy! We are fortunate enough to have a washer and dryer in our apartment as well, which is very rare for NYC! One small bathroom, with a tub. Nice long kitchen at the end of the apartment with a full sized fridge, gas stove, and lots of room for storage. I have a very sweet 2 year old male cat named Tiny, not aggressive at all, and the apartment is kept very clean at all times. The neighbor hood I live in is called Bed-stuy, based in Brooklyn. It is an up and coming neighborhood, very close to the hip, young areas like Williamsburg. I have lived here for almost 3 years now, and I love it! Every week there are new stores, coffee shops and bars opening up near my house! I pay a decent rent for the great space that I have and I am really close to everywhere I want to go in brooklyn, 15 minutes from Union Square, Manhattan, and 15 minutes from Queens. I live just one block from the Myrtle-Willoughby G train line which I use to get pretty much everywhere I need to go. I am also about a 12 minute walk from the JMZ subway line which is also good. There are also bus stops literally right outside of my doors, and we can call a taxi and have it arrive in under 5 minutes. I really love my apartment and I love to share it with others. I enjoy traveling a lot and meeting different types of people. Cheers!
I am so sorry for the message full of anger that Kayla left on me (who is a great person untill things come to money). It's also untrue : I paid her 600 dollars for one night for compensation. She has her keys. I am a host and guest fo 3 years on airbnb and never had any problem with anybody. I know the value of bedroom and that's why I left this noisy, dark and in the middle of nowhere one. Maybe Kayla should find a job instead of expecting on guest to pay her apartment.
Kayla is a great host. She can be very helpful sometimes. Her apartment is nice if you like the girly style. The small red bedroom I had for a month with a small bed was a bit noisy because of the street. There is no light from the sun at all in the apartment, which make it uneasy to eat at home. This is a weird part of Bed stuy, where there is nothing special to do in the area unless you walk 20 minutes. So I decided to leave before the end of the 2 months I booked and we had long argument. So sad things went this way.
I stayed here for 6 weeks while I was looking for a more permanent housing solution in NYC. The room was clean with fresh sheets upon my arrival; hangers and a dresser were provided for clothing storage.
The apartment is one block from the G line, which was greatly convenient for coming and going, and there are two small deli/grocery stores, a liquor store, and a decent pizza place just downstairs.
The room itself is on the street side of the apartment, and it's really loud. Sirens, buses, and people standing around all night shouting at each other, which was really annoying. I wore earplugs every night and got used to it, but if you're a light sleeper like I am, you will still hear the noise. Also, the stairwell is just outside this room and you can very clearly hear every word and footstep coming from it.
The kitchen and bathroom are fine, no issues with plumbing or appliances. The living room is a good size for hanging out, and the rooftop is a nice place to drink a beer and relax.
Kayla was helpful any time I had questions and often invited me to join her when she was going to meet up with friends, so I would say she was a gracious hostess. Oh, and Tiny the cat is a very sweet boy who will sleep near you and let you love on him from time to time. :)
Overall, because of the amount of noise, I am giving this an average rating. If noise doesn't bother you, then consider this a well-priced place to stay. Enjoy!
I've had an amazing time during my stay in New York. Kayla's apartment and Kayla herself had a big positive influence. The apartment and the room have all the basic needs. It's clean, the bed is comfortable the room has enhough closet space , the location is next to the g line and a few blocks from the apartment you also have a city bike station (which is the prefect way to travel!)
And of course the host herself: Kayla. She is such a sweatheart, knows everything about New York and espacialy the fun stuff. She is very caring and really tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I can even say that I have met a friend for life! So Kayla hope te see you soon:)
The room is exactly as described, Kayla makes it a point that she's welcoming you to her home not a hotel. She knows a lot about NY and Brooklyn, she had tons of suggestions for things to do especially the trendiest parties that are always happening in Brooklyn.
Kayla is fantastic, very welcoming, laid back, generous, interesting she invited me out for drinks and parties with her friends in many occasion I'm sorry I didn't have more time to hang out.
The house is located close to (5-10 min walk) to G train station. So it is easy to take subway and go to Manhattan. There are few 24 hour dalis downstairs which are very helpful. Although the apartment location is not in the best part of Brooklyn, I felt the neighborhood to be relatively safe while coming back home late in the night even at 2-3am. The building is walkup and apartment is on 3rd floor, which was a challenge for moving luggage during arrival and departure or when you bring groceries.
The size of the room is more like a small office with only bed and a drawer chest inside a closet and for the neighborhood and other competition in the area felt bit pricey, but the bed, pillows, and blanket were very comfortable. I wish we had some cleaning mop in the apartment to clean the floor once in a while. The living room itself is nice big, and the apartment has a laundry, dryer, and cloth iron too. The laundry and dryer is bit of challenge to use it, but it was nice to have them at home. The bedroom windows are good, without them, the street becomes bit noisy during the day and can kill your sleep. The AC in the unit works good, so overall it was a nice stay. The kitchen is minimal, with all basic utensils there, so it was easy to cook. She also provided with fresh towels and sheets, which was nice of her.
There were some issues with the wifi initially, with hardly any signal in the bedroom, but the issue was resolved half way during my stay and after that it had good strength in the apartment.
Kayla herself is very friendly and helpful host. Since I was new in town, I am glad I stayed at her place as she gives a good company with nice conversation or watching movies together. She also knows the area and city well, so she gave me good recommendation. She has a good friend circle, who will come over for dinner once in a while and it was nice to meet other friendly people too.
Oh, there is a cute cat name "tiny" to give you company. so if you are ever board, the cat makes a good too
All in all, I will recommend her place.
Kayla is an excellent host and her apartment was perfect for my needs. The apartment was easily locatable via subway and public transport. Good wifi and plenty of parking available on street.
Well for a true Brooklyn Experience I will never forget I shared with the host and her home. The room was nice and bed very comfortable. The apartment was very nice clean and had a washer an dryer.
Kayla the host was very welcoming and even took me out and introduced me to her friends where I shared some amazing memories and even found the time to fall in love with someone I met on the subway on one of our nights out.
Kayla made me feel at home in her beautiful apartment and took the time to show me around. I came a stranger and left a friend.
Kayla is very helpful and organized. The washing machine makes things easier. New York is an amazing city!
