About This Listing
Enjoy a private studio-like apartment in a hip Brooklyn neighborhood--with beautiful Prospect Park across the street. 20 minutes to the heart of Manhattan, and a couple subway stops to all major subway lines. Quiet and comfort await you!
Perfect place to stay if you are visIting NYC or need a place to rest your head while you look for a long-term sublet or apartment. This is a 1- bedroom apartment with a kitchen/living room that has a futon couch/bed and bathroom. The apartment is located across the street from Prospect Park and around the corner from the Q express train (20 minutes to Manhattan).
The apartment is in a small complex with a grand lobby and elevator. The kitchen/living space (where you will stay) has a 4-burner stove and oven, refrigerator, futon couch, and table. The bedroom is where I stay. This is a cozy and comfortable place. Instead of an exercise room, you have 585 acres of trees, meadows, and trails right across the street at beautiful Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
One stop north on the Q train brings you to 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Two stops north brings you to Atlantic Avenue where you can catch a concert or watch the Brooklyn Nets at the new Barclay’s Center, or transfer to almost every subway line the city has to offer (N, R, B, 2, 3, 4, 5, and LIRR train). Or just stay on the Q to get to the heart of downtown Manhattan or Times Square.
Occasionally you'll hear street traffic but it’s quiet at night. There isn’t much counter space for cooking big meals, but if you can improvise it’s definitely doable. There are several great restaurants in the area including nearby Park Slope to order in – I use Seamless all the time. There is limited closet space, one in the hallway for your coat, etc.
There is no TV, so if you want a night of entertainment at home, just do what I do and use your laptop for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Wifi is excellent.
I've lived in Brooklyn/NYC for 7 years and will be a great resource for you during your stay. Feel free to contact me to ask any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
Studio room w/ full-size futon bed (can be turned into a couch). Kitchen area (in your room), bathroom, and foyer.
Interaction with Guests
I will greet you personally when you arrive! And I'm always available by Airbnb message, text, or phone for any questions.
Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a true Brooklyn neighborhood with both families that have lived here for decades and in the last couple years artists and students are taking up residence. New businesses are popping up monthly - cafes, bars, restaurants. With such easy access to Prospect Park, Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn Museum, and the subway, PLG is a hidden treasure.
Or just stay on the Q to get to the heart of downtown Manhattan or Times Square in 20 minutes.
Other Things to Note
I stay in the apartment, in the bedroom on the other side of the apartment. You have your full privacy.
General rules apply--please respect the place as if it were your own home. Plus, no smoking, pets, and leaving food laying around the apartment.
I ask that you take any food garbage out every morning as you leave for the day. There's a chute at the end of the hall, or you can throw a bag in the trash cans outside down the street.
I had a pleasant stay at Monica's place. She provided lots of good advice of how to get the most out of my time in Brooklyn and was a hospitable host. The room itself is basic but comfortable, although if you want to cook everyday be aware the kitchen doesn't have much room to spread out your ingredients. That said, the location is right near the subway and the beautiful prospect park, so for a few days in NY it's a good place to stay.
Monica's place is awesome. Great location, nice big light space overlooking a beautiful park. Cool restaurants and bars and coffee places nearby. Perfect communication and super chilled out. Highly recommend
Monica Katz is to airbnb what Bill Murray is to film; what Wellington boots are to a puddly road. If aliens were ever to land in NYC and demand/request I take them to my leaders, I would say "No don't mind them lads, get yourselves a 7 day unlimited subway pass and take the Q train to Prospect Park. Pop right around the corner to 65 Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn and ask for Monica Katz".
Staying in Monica's apartment next to Prospect Park, Brooklyn, was my first experience of Airbnb, and based on my stay I shall definitely do it again!
Monica was a very considerate host. She prepared a detailed booklet of interesting places to visit in the different neighbourhoods of Brooklyn. Although we already had a guidebook, through Monica's advice we discovered some great places to eat and drink in Crown Heights, DUMBO and downtown Brooklyn.
Monica has a one-bedroom apartment, and guests stay in the lounge (with very clean kitchen attached) on her futon. While this may sound lacking in privacy, she is a very discreet host and allows guests the run of this space while they're there.
Overall, I thoroughly recommend Monica's place: great and authentic neighbourhood (Prospect-Lefferts Gardens) with a cool apartment and a host who's really interested in sharing her insider knowledge of Brooklyn. Thanks, Monica!
