My space is the attic of a cozy lane house in the heart of Shanghai.
It is placed in the street where Mao was born: Maoming bei lu (between Jing'an & the French Concession).
This street is a little oasis in the centre of the city, it's quiet, with plenty of light and I have a big tree in front of my window!
The space is a studio with a main room (bedroom+livingroom), a bathroom, a toilet room and a kitchen. Perfect for one person / one couple.
The main room has a big king size bed, a sofa, big closet, TV, AC&heater, and wifi. With a nice old wooden floor and 4 wooden windows + a small balcony.
Kitchen: fridge / small oven / microwave / electric stove / Washing machine / Plates&Cooking Tools.
Balcony: Big enough to eat there when the weather is nice. Beautiful views!
Bathroom: bathtub/shower attached to the main room (big window in the bathroom with nice views - I highly recommend long hot baths!)
*The WC is detached, it is just in front of the main room and it's only for my use.
My area has a good mix of big stores like Adidas, Prada, Uniclo, H&M, Leica.. and also small stores with unique Shanghai designers items. Two blocks above my place there's 'Kin Cafe' a very cool western restaurant & concept store where you can have western breakfast and good coffee. There are as well many chinese restaurants, fruit shops and convenience stores in the area.
Bakery, Coffee stores, Fashion Shopping, Supermarket, Fresh Veggie Market. French Concession & Subway stop very close!
Interaction with Guests
I'm always reachable on my phone and email ;)
I love living in this little 'oasis' in the very centre of the city. My neighborhood has the perfect balance between local and foreigner and its very convenient!
The metro stop is 5min. walking distance from my place (West Nanjing Road, Line 2).
- No loud music & big parties after 10pm! ;)
Clara's place was perfect for my stay. It is located in an awesome location surrounded by restaurants, shops, bars, etc. The WC across the hall was not an inconvenience to me at all. It is a perfect size for 1 or 2 people.
Clara was a great host, even far away, she always replied promptly and the room is very well located! One of the best neighborhoods in Shanghai!
I always receive good service from Clara and her friends. The location is great, walking distance from main shopping avenue. Great food in the Area!
Clara was a very generous and communicative host. Even when she was out of town, she checked in with me and was immediately available for any of our needs or questions. The VERY convenient location, much appreciated air conditioning, mellow and artistic atmosphere, comfortable bed, clean room and awesome DVD collection created a great place to rest at the end of the day in bustling Shanghai. Highly recommended!
Clara's apartment was super cute. It was really cosy and felt like home, while being spacious at the same time. Located in a fantastic area of Shanghai, everything was within walking distance - subway, convenience stores, cafes, restaurants, etc.
The apartment itself is located within a very Chinese building. This itself was cool. It was also really quiet - you escaped the hustle and bustle of the outside world as soon as you stepped inside.
Having the toilet outside the main room was slightly inconvenient, but you got used to it pretty quick and it wasn't a hassle.
I was there in January and it was freezing outside, but the apartment was always warm, even without the main heater on. It is bright with the sun coming in (you can block this out by using the curtains), and the balcony was also great to sit outside and eat or read a book.
Clara was super easy to deal with, and her friend who showed me around the apartment when I arrived was also really friendly. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend this place.
The good: the room is cosy and good if you need privacy. Heating in the main room was ok, there is consistent hot water/water pressure, bed is very comfortable, fast internet, kitchen available with fridge and hot plate for cooking, funky decor. Sitting on the balcony in the morning was nice, very lovely cityscape and charming old Shanghai neighborhood. Fantastic location just five minutes walk from 南京西路站, so easy to get to and from Hongqiao airport and train station. Clara was away on vacation when I arrived but her friend helped provide the key and tour and she was very nice. There is a convenience store just downstairs, you need to buy your own bottled drinking water while staying there.
The less good: The shower room is detached from the main room and very, very cold in the winter (I was there in December). The toilet room is also detached and have to walk past someone's kitchen to get there, also extremely cold. The first day I was there locked the bathroom door and since it turns from the inside when locked forgot to unlock, the next morning could not open the door and had to run outside in my PJ's to search for a locksmith. Was not warned about the bathroom door issue, there is no bathroom key, and there was no help from host when I called, had to pay 150rmb for the locksmith (he knew I was desperate).
I'm a graphic designer from Barcelona based in Shanghai. I enjoy a lot being at home chilling in good company, cooking, playing music or even working.
When I travel around I look for cute clean places with nice deco.
