The space
Welcome to Sandstone Rustic Retreat, a boutique destination designed for couples who value connection, quiet, and something truly different in the Wisconsin Dells. Just 1.8 miles from downtown, yet worlds away from the crowds, our six-acre property offers more stars, less people — an intentional space to unplug and rediscover what matters most.
Our retreat features four thoughtfully remodeled cabins (each designed for couples), a cozy studio cottage, and four unique glamping domes. Every space blends rustic charm with modern comfort, giving you privacy while inviting you to explore the property together.
At the heart of Sandstone is the Gathering House — a converted tavern now serving as a cozy community space with coffee, espresso, tea, WiFi, games, and fireside seating. Step outside to a covered deck, grilling area, and communal firepit perfect for conversations under the stars. In summer, our No Wake Zone dock bar welcomes river travelers on weekends, and in winter, the Gathering House transforms into an intimate speakeasy night a few times a month — a rare and unforgettable experience if your stay aligns.
Wander the trails through whispering pines, follow our raised boardwalk through a sandstone canyon, and emerge at the crown jewel: a private dock on the quiet backwaters of the Wisconsin River. Here you’ll find breathtaking views, excellent fishing, and the kind of peaceful beauty you won’t find in town.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to explore all six acres of Sandstone Rustic Retreat. The Gathering House (open 6:00am–12:00am) is the heart of the property — a cozy space for coffee at sunrise, conversation by the fire, or unwinding at the end of the day. Alongside espresso and tea, we offer a curated drink menu highlighting local flavors — from Wisconsin Old Fashioneds to regional brews. Beverages are available by request and can be delivered to your cabin or picked up at the bar to enjoy anywhere on the property. Private bar experiences can also be arranged prior to your stay (additional charge). Many mornings, the founders join guests for coffee and conversation, a tradition that makes Sandstone mornings memorable.
Outdoors, the covered deck, grilling station, and communal firepit are designed for effortless connection. Propane, utensils, glassware, and dishware are provided — just bring your favorite ingredients and beverages to enjoy a meal under the stars.
Trails wind through the pines, and a raised boardwalk leads to our private dock on the Wisconsin River — perfect for sunrise coffee, fishing, or simply taking in the view.

Other things to note
Pet Policy: The Deer Ridge Cabin is not dog friendly. If you’d like to travel with your pup, we do offer two dog-friendly cabins where pets stay free. Please see our other listings for availability.
Seasonal Experiences: The No Wake Zone dock bar is open on summer weekends (June–August). During winter (January–April), the Gathering House occasionally transforms into an intimate speakeasy night — a rare and unforgettable experience if your stay aligns.
Concierge Services: Many of our curated add-ons (wellness sessions, private dining, transportation, etc.) require advance notice. As with anything worthwhile, it takes planning — we can’t make magic happen last-minute, but when you plan ahead, unforgettable experiences await.
Community Atmosphere: While your cabin is fully private, Sandstone is also a retreat community. Guests often gather at the firepit, enjoy morning coffee in the Gathering House, or cross paths on the trails — making it easy to connect if you wish, and retreat if you don’t.
