Only 12 miles west of New York City, Montclair is a quick, 35-minute train ride to Penn Station - making our house the perfect economical alternative for travelers, students and couples wishing to tour NYC. We are located within a five-minute walk to the New Jersey Transit Midtown Direct train station at Bay Street. Frequent bus service is also available.
During your stay in our home, you will hear lots of music. Mia is a voice teacher and opera singer. You will also enjoy a home-made breakfast of your choice (allergies will be considered) created by Mia (just let her know). Additional meals, voice lessons and English-language instruction can be provided by special arrangement.
The home is located on a beautiful tree-lined street of Victorian homes in artsy Montclair, New Jersey. There are many restaurants of all ethnicities (Ethiopian, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Southern American, etc.). The Montclair Art Museum is a short distance away along with multiple galleries and great shopping.
Free wi-fi, free off-street parking, free washer/dryer, piano, front porch and living room access. We are happy to give touring advice, directions, restaurant recommendations and more.

We look forward to meeting you!

Our neighborhood is full of stately Victorian homes, mature trees and gardens. We are a short walk from downtown Montclair with a multitude of shopping and restaurants.
We are a 5-minute walk to the NJ Transit Midtown Direct train which takes 35 minutes to get to Penn Station, NYC. We are also a short walk to several bus stops for the Decamp bus line (#66 and #33) which take about 35 minutes to reach Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC.
Please treat our home as your own. Please follow the no-smoking/no pet rules. Please acknowledge that you understand that the guest room is located on the third floor of our Victorian home (31 steps total). Please note that each additional guest will be charged $10/per night.
The Township of Montclair will ticket cars ($35) parked on the street if parked more than four hours on a weekday or between the hours of 2-5 AM. You may park in our driveway, but you must be willing to leave your car keys downstairs so that your car may be moved if necessary. Otherwise, you need to purchase an overnight parking pass at a rate of $5/night.
This is in fact, our very lived-in home. We love welcoming guests on our first floor, and enjoy socializing. We enjoy sitting around and having a conversation while sharing drinks from our bar in the evenings. Please do not feel that you need to "hide" in your room. Please also understand that the "family" sections of the house may not be as tidy as the guest quarters. We apologize in advance that we do not have cable TV service. The family instead utilizes wifi for streaming services.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.

I am the General Director of an opera company in New Jersey. I have three grown kids. My husband is an attorney with his own law practice.
I love to cook and eat out. There are many local restaurants that I can recommend. I also love roaming around New York City. I enjoy showing my city off and would be happy to guide you.
My daughter and I traveled to France and Italy together in 2012 - truly the best summer of my life.
We hosted students from France for several years, and we really love having guests in our home. Many years ago, we dreamed of opening an official B&B - this is the next best thing.
I have had excellent experiences staying with Air BnB hosts in different cities. I hope you will give us a try!
