Mia's home reminds me of the house I grew up in, and I was extremely comfortable during my stay there. Good vibes all around. The room is clean and well-furnished (for one person), and in a quiet spot at the very top of the house. As a hostess, Mia did everything to make sure I had what I needed, and she cooked me a delightful breakfast on the day that I had my presentation at Montclair State, which really put me in a great, less nervous mood for the day. I had a wonderful time. Thank you and your family for everything! I love NJ!
Our host was very friendly and served us coffee when we arrived. We enjoyed our three day stay. It's a convenient location in Montclair. The house is in need of some repairs, including the ceiling fan and the noisy air conditioner.
Mia is warm and engaging; she made my husband and I feel welcome and offered suggestions of places to get a variety of international cuisines. Her home is well located and is an easy drive--or walk on a nice day--to one of Montclair's restaurant rows located on Bloomfield Avenue. Its worth it to note the the suite is on the third floor of Mia's family's home, so although there is a private bathroom off of the room and a kitchen right near it, you nevertheless will walk through or past the other rooms of the house and that, even in your absence, all rooms and external doors remain unlocked until all family members and guests are in for the night. This was unexpected for us. Nevertheless, all was well during our two-night stay and we found that the space and it's location was just what we needed.
This is Steve, Ann's husband.
My stay here was a great experience. The room is on the third floor in an old house with lots of character. It has a newly-renovated private bath and use of a separate, fully-equipped kitchen, so there was lots of room and privacy. Everything was clean and well-cared for. I was traveling alone, so did not open up the bed, but as a twin it was quite comfortable, and I had a good WiFi connection.
The best part of the stay was the warm welcome from Mia, who made me feel like a guest in a friend's house. I would happily stay here again.
Mia was an excellent host for my 2 week stay! I was unfortunately very busy most of the time getting setup with work here so did not get to visit with her as much as I would have liked, but our chats in the AMs were always a great start to my busy days!! The Jersey bagels were phenomenal as were her home-baked goodies :-D The neighborhood is a quaint escape from the bustle of downtown Newark & NYC; the streets are adorned with mature trees and the architecture of the classic Victorians is exquisite. The streets are very walkable with a lot of choices in fare and entertainment close by. The upstairs suite was more than enough for my needs moving to the area and I would highly recommend the space to anyone. Thanks, Mia!
About the Host, Mia
I am an opera singer (trying to develop my own company) and voice teacher. I'm also a mom to three: Tom (18), Violetta (16) and Sammy (14). My husband, David, is an attorney with his own law practice.
If you stay with us, you will likely hear some voice lessons going on and my daughter practicing her harp. She is a professional harpist, and we spend a lot of time schlepping her around to gigs!
I love to cook and eat out. There are many local restaurants that I can recommend. I also love roaming around New York City (only 12 miles away). I enjoy showing my city off and would be happy to guide you.
Reading is a major hobby for me. I love historical fiction.
My daughter and I traveled to France and Italy this past summer - truly the best summer of my life.
We have hosted students from France for the past couple of years, and we really love having guests in our home. Many years ago, we dreamed of opening an official B&B - this is the next best thing.
I have had excellent experiences staying with Air BnB hosts in different cities. I hope you will give us a try!
