The location is great just 2blocks to the NjTransit bay street station ,very conveient to go to NY downtown and Airport.great great airbnn experience!
Listing and description were more or less accurate though we weren't woken in the middle of the night by singing. The neighbourhood is a pleasant suburb with old houses and tree lined streets. The train makes NYC easily accessible and you don't need a car. For those visiting the US you find out far more about the country by staying with a family.
Mia was an excellent host - she was quick in response and setup the room even when I requested for the same day. She provided breakfast and helped me with other local information. Best wishes
Home away from home . . . Mia's welcoming attentiveness makes you immediately feel like part of her family, yet she also is respectful of space and flexible about schedules. Her home is relaxed and comfortable, with the charm and unique qualities that make older houses so much more interesting than modern hotels. Plus, the musical interests of Mia and her family are readily evident, and it's enjoyable to see them woven into daily life in her home .
Mia went above and beyond to accommodate our needs as we tackled a college move-in. This involved, among other things, parking two minivans in her driveway and lugging in a concert pedal harp, a guitar, and a ukelele to spend the night as well. Mia took it all cheerfully in stride. (Harpists - you will love the handy ramp!)
The neighborhood feels safe and friendly. We saw whole families with children of all ages out together walking at night. There is a well-stocked 24-hour CVS/mini-grocery as well as other stores and restaurants within a very quick walk. Mia was helpful in sharing information about the surrounding area.
The bed was comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet, so we slept well. The shower was excellent! Also, the upstairs guest kitchen right off the bedroom is a wonderful bonus. It is fully equipped, and would be invaluable for a long-term stay or anyone who prefers to eat in rather than dine out.
Mia is an interesting and upbeat person, and a delightful hostess who will make you feel right at home. Thank you, Mia, for a great stay!
Mia was an AMAZING host! She was helpful, knowledgable, and incredibly kind. I would recommend this place to anyone. She keeps the room and kitchen incredibly clean and even provides toiletries! The room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. If anyone is coming to this area I recommend staying here!
Mia's home reminds me of the house I grew up in, and I was extremely comfortable during my stay there. Good vibes all around. The room is clean and well-furnished (for one person), and in a quiet spot at the very top of the house. As a hostess, Mia did everything to make sure I had what I needed, and she cooked me a delightful breakfast on the day that I had my presentation at Montclair State, which really put me in a great, less nervous mood for the day. I had a wonderful time. Thank you and your family for everything! I love NJ!
About the Host, Mia
I am the General Director of Opera Theatre of Montclair and a voice teacher. I'm also a mom to three: Tom (21), Violetta (19) and Sammy (16). My husband, David, is an attorney with his own law practice.
If you stay with us, you will likely hear some voice lessons going on and my daughter practicing her harp (when she's around; she's a sophomore at Manhattan School of Music). You may also hear my son Sam preparing for his musical theatre career.
I love to cook and eat out. There are many local restaurants that I can recommend. I also love roaming around New York City (only 12 miles away). I enjoy showing my city off and would be happy to guide you.
Reading is a major hobby for me. I love historical fiction.
My daughter and I traveled to France and Italy together in 2012 - truly the best summer of my life.
We hosted students from France for several years, and we really love having guests in our home. Many years ago, we dreamed of opening an official B&B - this is the next best thing.
I have had excellent experiences staying with Air BnB hosts in different cities. I hope you will give us a try!
