The large bedroom is central in the upstairs apartment and affords sitting space plus a large table for working or eating in. The bedroom feature king-sized memory foam beds and high thread count, all cotton sheets. The windows are large and allow a lot of natural light in during the day, but draperies afford privacy at night.

Mavhouse is located in the Lowertown Arts District. The house occupies a corner lot with deep mixed perennial, conifer, and shrub borders on two sides. Many unusual plants make the gardens interesting year round, from the riot of spring bulbs to the Christmas roses (Hellebores) beginning to bloom in December and lasting for months. Guided tours of the garden are available to those interested.
The house is what I call casually formal, as we are not formal people but live in a semi-formal house. It is filled with art, as we are in the arts district and have a family of artists. I love to cook, so for extended stays, expect at least one dinner invitation.
There is public transit available, and the neighborhood is so warm and inviting. We have regular artists in residence, whom we "mother" a bit, so count on lots of help finding things, getting places, or just getting the scope on what's up. Galleries and studios are on most of the nearby streets, waiting for you to stop in.
The beauty of Mavhouse gardens was the first thing to catch our attention when we drove up and to see daffodils after a long winter was a thrill. We arrived at dinner time and enjoyed being able to walk to a restaurant Anita directed us to. Our room was large and lovely and the upstairs living room and kitchen were like being home alone. The one thing I have learned about myself is I don't want to share a bathroom with someone who is not in my traveling party. It wasn't a problem but it made me a bit anxious. The original art throughout the house was a plus and of never ending interest to me. Our trip to Paducah was a bit of a whirlwind and I wish we could have had more time to visit with Anita. Anita asked us what we wanted for breakfast and we enjoyed that customized touch. Should I return to Paducah, I would consider staying here.
Mavhouse was a great choice for our stay in Paducah with lots of space and great accommodations. We really enjoyed the artwork, healthy breakfast, and the perfect blend of historic detail with modern convenience. Anita is very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again!
I highly recommend the lovely accommodations and gracious hospitality at the Mavhouse in Paducah, Ky. My sister and I were in town attending the annual quilt show which goes on for 4-5 days. Our space was a large open bedroom with a most comfortable king size bed. A spacious living room and kitchen where available to share with another guest who was staying in the second upstairs bedroom. The artwork throughout was outstanding. Anita had asked our preferences of a light breakfast menu in advance and had everything in the frig for our stay. I look forward to returning to Mavhouse again next year. Our time at Mavhouse was a delight.
Awesome place. Very quiet. We enjoyed our stay very much, and will definitely consider staying again.
