Stayed there for a night. Toilet was faulty that day, unfortunately..
Calvin made it easy for us. He answered rapidly to our demands in Internet.
For the room, although its size (it was small but it seems to be always the case in HK), it was clean and comfy. Perfect for one person, a little tight for two, but we managed. Excellent wifi quality, easy to find (we made researches before), good location.
Well, the distance is not 5mins to the nearest MTR as stated. The room is smaller than expected. Wish they could replenish the toiletries like toilet roll.
Still the place is quiet and within easy access to Nathan Road and eateries.
Calvin Hostel is very convenient for us to stay. I did not see him as it's working days but we contact him on phone. The room is very tidy and very convenient to take MTR Olympic station. The room is tidy but very comfort to stay. Calvin has the refrigerator , microwave and teapot at the center. In the room, It has hairdryer, hotwater, air condition that enough for traveler as us. Recommend to stay here if you want to save money with safety. For us, we will stay here again. Thank you very much Calvin.
We didn't think about room sizes in HK and we had three big luggages so it was a bit cramp in the room but we were able to make do by shifting them around so it worked out. The location is pretty good in terms of puble transportation and stores nearby. It was a good stay.
Calvin ' s room was newly renovated, clean and cosy although it was quite small. But the size was OK by HK standards. The room wasn't very near Mongkok MTR, probably 10 to 15 mins walk. Lots of food nearby though. Overall a pleasant stay :)
Small and a bit hard to find, but nice and clean. Calvin was very easy to deal with and provided me with everything I needed in terms of amenities. Great for a short stay in Hong Kong.
Location is great. Place is very accessible via Bus E21 from the HKIA and Olympic MTR. Room is small but hey we're in HK so that's expected. Check in process is also smooth and detailed. We'll try this again soon!
Instructions to find the apartment are not clear at all. Would not have been able to find the place without (website hidden) maps and SIM card purchased at the airport.
Arrived to find room was not ready and had not been cleaned. Calvin was not even there. An old woman opened the door who clearly spoke no English. Thankfully I have a small amount of Cantonese ability. She was the one who told us the room wasn't ready. The cleaner hadn't cleaned the room. She'd tried calling Calvin to tell him but he wasn't picking up the phone. This will be a recurring theme. When she finally got him, I talked to him on the phone. Speaking to him, no apology was offered. He simply told us to come back in three to four hours. Repeatedly told us "there's no problem". English communication was difficult and I had to use my spotty Cantonese.
Arriving back at the apartment exhausted hours later, we discovered that the toilet was not flushing. I immediately called to ask Calvin to fix it, as that is such a basic necessity and expectation for an Airbnb room. Again he didn't answer his phone. I left a message and he called back about fifteen minutes later. Again on the phone he said "there's no problem". Was terse and was quite matter of fact when he told us "just use the shower head and bucket". As if this was the norm. In fact he was well aware of the problem and told us it happened quite often!
It would have been nice to know beforehand and he had declined to tell us about it. Though apparently not a problem to him. It certainly was a problem to us. He told us it was a problem with the whole building, something to do with salt water, and that it was out of his hands. Well perhaps he could have warned us so we could have chosen a place equipped with a working and reliable toilet. When I asked when it would be fixed he said "how should I know, it's the buildings problem". He sounded almost offended. I asked him for his best estimate and he said two to three days. I told him to please call the building supervisor and get a more accurate answer and to let me know. He begrudgingly agreed. Though it sounded like he was just saying it. In the end the toilet never worked the whole 8 days we spent there and he never called me back.
One night we were awakened suddenly in the middle of the night. My guess was that it was around 1-2 in the morning. Calvin was suddenly banging loudly on the apartment across the hall and shouting "hello, this Calvin. Hello!?" Apparently someone had called to ask him about working the air conditioner, but he chose to come and loudly teach them how to use it in the hall at 1am.
Terrible experience. Inconsiderate. Poor communication. Broken toilet.
