The Space

This room has two twin beds and accommodates 2 people comfortably. We have antique furniture and like to think that it gives the feeling of home which you cant get in a hotel. There are four drawers in the dresser to store your belongings as well as closet space.

See: "Home Sweet Home", "Private Area", or "The Budget Room".

Guest Access

Guests have access to the parlor and the patio "Charito". Wifi can be accessed in your room but is strongest in the parlor and the parlor doors can be closed if privacy is needed.
There is a large shared bathroom (with 1 or 2 other people). Sometimes you may be lucky enough to have it to yourself if the other room remains vacant.
Guests who are bringing their laptop may access Wifi in our home 24/7. If you are not bringing your laptop, you may use the internet cabin that is a short 2 minute walk from our home.
It is best to click on the "Amenities" tab so you know just exactly what we do and do not offer.

Interaction with Guests

We offer basic accomodations at very reasonable rates for our guests who are looking for a safe place to shower and sleep so that they may spend the rest of their time getting to know Lima. We do our very best to give you a warm welcome and make you feel comfortable in our home during your stay.
We are in and out of our home on a regular basis but Antonio is very good about checking in on guests often to make sure your stay is going well and to ask if there are any questions. If there is anything we forget or don't think about, please do not hesitate to ask!

The Neighborhood

We live in a safe neighborhood called Barrio Medico. It is located right on the border of the Miraflores/Surquillo District. We are closest to Angamos and Tomas Marsano (cuadra 17 Angamos) and Roca Y Bologna and Tomas Marsano (cuadra 9 Roca y Bologna).
Staying with us you will experience two worlds. One of locals enjoying the same malls, shops, markets, parks and walks that we do and the other being close enough to enjoy many tourist areas as well. THE HEART OF MIRAFLORES (PARQUE KENNEDY) IS A 25 MINUTE WALK FROM OUR HOME. If you do not like to walk, it is only about a 5 minute taxi ride away for about 6-7 Peruvian soles which is less than 2 Euros or $2.50 USD, VERY CHEAP :)
Barranco is about a 10 minute taxi ride and Central Lima is about 20-25 minutes. If you are not in a hurry and want to save money, there is always the option of taking a bus too :)
SAN ISIDRO and SAN BORJA are to the north
MIRAFLORES is to the south and west
SURCO is to the east

Getting around

Taxi's are easily accessible right outside our front door and the nearest bus stop is about a 5 minute walk from our home.
For your convenience, we do offer transportation from the airport for a fee. Please inquire.

We have 24 hour check in , however, please take note of our set check in/check out times and plan your stay accordingly.

Check IN is at 1pm or after. *
*If you wish to check in at an earlier time, you will need to pay for an extra night to guarantee that the room is available for you.

  • My son and I had awonderful stay with Antonio and his lovely family. Their home is beautiful and our room was very clean and comfortable. Antonio was very helpful orienting us to Lima and a terrific resource for planning our trip. A great place and a very good bargain.

  • Antonio was an incredible host! I have nothing but good things to say about him, his home, the location, and everything else about this listing. He was extremely helpful in providing information about Lima, places to go, what to see/avoid, and even helped me with laundry, and got me a cab last-minute to the airport. He was often available to talk with questions or problems, and I had a very positive experience staying with him. I would not hesitate to do so again.

  • Antonio was awesome! I would recommend getting a taxi from him unless you are familiar with Lima or really know your Spanish. Thanks a lot for everything Antonio I had an awesome stay!

  • Had a great time staying at Antinio and his fanily's place. The house is big; the area for guests a little separated from the main house area, which gives you a sense of privacy. I was staying in the room featured in the pictures and it looked just as presented. Antonio is nice, easy going and super helpful with whatever travel arrangements you might need and his mom is lovely. Definitely recommend!!!

  • My stay with Antonio exceeded my expectations. I stayed with Antonio and his family for 6 days, which gave me enough time to rest and enjoy all that Lima had to offer. The hosts were very accomidating, the showers were hot the neighborhood quiet. I consider this 6 weeks I will be exploring Peru an adventure vacation, and my stay with Antonio got me off to a good start.

  • The room is a great deal in Lima. Nothing else I looked at was anywhere near the price. Antonio was very helpful and hospitable. The room was dated and didn't look quite as nice as in the pictures but was comfortable. The bathroom was big and clean. The only downsides for me were the hot water did not last long in the shower and that they don't hold luggage if your checking out at noon and leaving in the evening. It was probably about 20-25 minutes walking from parque kennedy which seems to be the Central Park in Miraflores. Overall a great deal in Lima!

    Response from Antonio:

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Cao for staying with us! It was a pleasure hosting you.
The reason we do not hold luggage is because we are not always home to wait for our guests to return to pick up their luggage. Also from past experience with other guests, sometimes we would be stuck waiting at home and have to cancel our own personal plans when our guests did not show up when they said they would. If we were more like a hostel and had perhaps a front desk or some hired help, it would be an option, but unfortunately at this time, it is not. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and give our guests an option to reserve another night so that they may keep their keys and check out at a later time. We hope you had a nice visit with your family in Peru and hope to see you again! :)

  • Antonio was very nice but we were a bit disappointed with the place. It was far from Miraflores and in a neighborhood that had little to offer besides an ugly mall. The house was not the cleanest. There was also a cat -- which made my asthma flare up. The doorknob was about to fall off. There was only one working socket in the room. The shower in the bathroom was weird and the hot water ran out pretty fast. We were not given keys to the front door and had to climb in and out through a very small opening in the garage. We did not get any coffee or tea in the morning. Nor was there any drinking water in the room. I have stayed at many Air Bnb places and never had to go looking for water to buy.

    Response from Antonio:

We try our very best with all of our guests and apologize for not being able to fulfill your expectations. We are very specific on everything we include in our accommodations and also include on our page, asking everyone to check the "amenities" tab so they know what to expect before coming and staying in our home. We also mention that we have cats on our page. Most of the time they stay in the garden but unfortunately from time to time they might try to sneak in. When this happens we put them right back outside as I also suffer from allergies so I do not want them in the house. We have had more than over 100 people in the last year stay in our home and have never had one complaint about only having one outlet in the bedroom. Our house is 60 years old, quit large, and updating the house, adding drinking water, coffee/tea, breakfast, a bigger hot water tank, etc. will add to our cost and time, resulting in us having to raise our rates. We like to keep things simple so it remains affordable for everyone. We offer basic accommodations/amenities so we can stay at our bargain rate. Our mall is only 2 years old. We have never had any complaints about it and all of our previous guests have enjoyed it. Sorry you did not like it, but we understand and accept that it is not going to please everyone's taste. It is our fault that we did not provide you with a map. Antonio is usually very good about providing maps and explaining where everything is and how to get there. Around the holidays things can get pretty hectic and busy in our household; because of this, we were in and out and missed you on several occasions which we feel bad about. We did apologize on many occasions about the "mess" and explained that we were pulling out things to get ready for the Christmas season which you seemed ok with. Our kitchen is ALWAYS being used and our 81 year old mother is ALWAYS cooking, especially now since it is the holiday season. This is our home. This is not a hotel. There is no key to the front door. This is a unique situation, but we have never had to have one as we have always had a maid to answer and open the front door. We do not have a maid at the present time so until we do, we offer a key to the door that goes to the garage to enter the house. We are not home all of the time and do not want to keep our guests waiting. Again, 99% of our guests do not have a problem with this arrangement. We do understand that our home is not for everyone. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the best. Thank you for giving us a try.

  • My stay with Antonio and Tina was great. Tina responded quickly to emails before I arrived, and Antonio is full of helpful advice and recommendations for what to see in Lima. Antonio's mom is lovely. :)
The room was comfortable and clean, and the house is in a quiet neighbourhood very close to a large supermarket and shopping centre.

    Response from Antonio:

Hi, my name is Antonio. I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I moved to the United States when I was 16 and graduated from Clovis High School in Fresno, California. I moved to Sacramento, California after graduating from high school. After living in the United States for 22 years, I moved back here to Peru with my family last year to share with them my culture and love for my country. I speak Spanish and English. My wife of 15 years, Tina, was born in Concord, Massachusetts and moved to the Sacramento area in California when she was a child. She went to American River College and has an Associates degree in Medical Assisting. She speaks English and some Spanish. You will see a lot more of me than Tina as she is busy throughout the day tending to the shopping, cleaning of the house, and taking care of our three children. We enjoy hosting because it gives us an opportunity to meet new people and learn new things. We have had guests from all walks of life, from many parts of the world, and have enjoyed the company of each and every one of them. We feel fortunate to have met such nice people and sometimes it is hard to say good-bye. We look forward to your visit! Welcome to Peru!
