This is the sublet version of Columbia Castle. The only difference between the two is that a sublet is only available when I will be out of town and a deposit (which Airbnb holds) is required.

Christopher´s beautiful apartment (we LOVED the interior design!) is in a really friendly (and safe) neighborhood. We loved that there were incredibly amazing cafes and restaurants nearby (River Deli, Iris Café, Colonie,…) and the subway (which gets you into Manhattan in just 20 minutes) is only a short walk away from the apartment.
All communication with Christopher was very pleasant and we would definitely recommend him as a host. Oh and Chris, we’ll definitely be back… if you’ll have us. Thanks again! :)
A wonderful stay in a beautiful apartment.
My parents and their friends stayed in Christopher's apartment in August. They loved the location, interesting building and cosy and well maintained apartment. Christopher was a wonderful host - even though he was traveling at the time, he made easy arrangements for the key pick up and checked in several times with us by email to see whether everything was fine. Lovely place in Brooklyn Heights!
I stayed in Christopher's apartment for several days with my boyfriend and our friends. It was a perfect spot to explore New York. The neighborhood is extremely nice and can offer short walk to subway, morning run in the Brooklyn Bridge Park (and through the Brooklyn Bridge as well!), coffee with a muffin in a cafe nearby and a delicious Italian dinner at the corner restaurant at night. Brooklyn Heights feels safe but is not boring at the same time.
The apartment itself is charming, nicely decorated and provides everything you need for a short stay. Just be advised that there is no elevator and it's an old building - both facts were can be pros or cons, depending on what you're looking for.
Highly recommend for young people and couples, both for business and leisure trips.
Our stay at Columbia Castle was amazing! The neighbourhood is perfect for great walks, cafe and is close to other trendy area. The appartment itself suits all our needs and was big enough for the four of us. Thanks Chris!
We loved this place, it was perfect for us! The neighborhood was very nice and felt safe. Apartment was comfortable and welcoming. Chris was gracious about sharing his space. We would certainly stay here again. We loved walking the neighborhood and checking out the local eats on block. The short walk to the subway which takes you into Manhattan was very pleasant and easy to navigate. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to explore Brooklyn and Manhattan alike!
Accommodations are fine by New York standards. Location is great. But be aware that this is a former tenement building and has some real quirks, which is also it's charm. For example, a five floor walk-up on an outdoor staircase that winds up the building. Also windows of both bedrooms look out onto the buildings' hallway that neighbors on the same floor pass by. When I was there window had no proper curtain and A/C was not screwed in properly. After stay I told Christopher about my safety and privacy concerns, and he said he would remedy it.
On the plus side, Christopher was very responsive and strikes me as a trustworthy, likeable guy. The apartment has great charm, for many of the reasons listed above, with an appealing bohemian, German Weimar Republic theme. And a wonderful view of Manhattan from the writing desk. Recommended for any method actor preparing for a role in The Threepenny Opera.
Christopher was really warm and welcoming and the location of the flat is incredible. There are really good amenities in the area and the view over South Manhattan is breathtaking. There are really good transport links and Brooklyn Bridge is walkable.
The apartment is well situated, near several subway lines. We enjoyed the fact that we were able to be in Manhattan relatively quickly. The main negative point of this stay was the cleanliness of the apartment: it wasn't disgustingly filthy but there was a lot of dust and for people with asthma and allergies it was quite unpleasant.
Christopher and Matthew were responsive, kind, and courteous in our email exchanges, and it would have been fun to meet them, but they were out of town during our stay. However, they sent us helpful information, accommodated our very early arrival time, and dispatched a local friend, Andrew, to greet us. Andrew was a phone call away if we had any questions, but the week was problem-free. The apartment was comfortable and pleasant, everything we needed, and the location was wonderful...the immediate neighborhood is lovely, and transit to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn could not have been more convenient. This was a very positive airbnb experience. Thank you so much, Christopher and Matthew!
