‘The little cottage comes with a wild and empty landscape and the peacefulness ensures the best nights sleep ever. The welcome and the chat in nearby Ardara comes for free, whilst the fantastic seafood at Nancy’s and the music and beer at the Corner House are priceless’. - Peter Lynch, author & travel writer
Whether it's romance or the need for some peace and quiet, this lovingly restored, traditional Irish cottage in the wilds of Donegal is the ideal hideaway. Set in an idyllic, remote valley, against a wild and dramatic landscape, it offers both unique location and stunning views combined with traditional charm, comfort, and warmth. Perfect for those who love nature and the outdoors.
The recently renovated cottage has two bedrooms, a living room, reception area, a galley kitchen with all modern cooking facilities and bathroom with shower and under floor heating. Step back in time with no TV or internet - the perfect place to unwind, read a book and cosy up by the fireside.
The cottage is ideally suited to a couple/ and two children.
The nearby heritage village of Ardara (recently voted 'best village to live in Ireland' by the Irish Times) is just three miles from the cottage and boasts some of the best pubs in Ireland including the legendary Nancy’s Bar (serving sea food) and the Corner House Bar, which has live traditional music almost every night of the week.
Ardara, which lies next to the sea, is host to numerous events throughout the year including an international 'walking festival' in March. A bus service operates between Letterkenny, Donegal town and Ardara. A local taxi service is also available.
Good reliable taxi service to local village.
We had a perfect stay in and around the cottage. Peter told us about some places to go before he left, so we did! Ardara is a very cute village with a warmhearting atmosphere. The beach is a bit hidden and off the road but worth EVERY effort. Thank you Peter!
We had a wonderful time at Peter's place. The setting is gorgeous and the cottage perfectly charming. Peter was lovely. Thanks for a great, although all too brief, stay.
Wonderful! Peter was easy to communicate with and when we met him we received some great local advice. The cottage is gorgeous and cosy. The surroundings were stunning and peaceful yet within easy access to Adara and many other terrific places. A memorable stay.
Lovely stay at the cottage, very cosy and a great little spot to explore Donegal, our first time. Kids loved quirkyness of the cottage, the location, the sheep and no complaints about no TV/Wifi so that says loads! Good spot to explore Slieve Liag and other sights, very enjoyable, thank you
Perfect and restful couple of days in Peters lovely cottage ..
great location .Peter was a great and fun host , and we enjoyed meeting him for a beer at the local festival in town when we were there ... highly recommended getaway ... great beaches , Guinness, and music ..... hope we can go again soon
Peter was a great host! He's easy to communicate with and he's very interesting to talk to. The home was very easy to find. The views were stunning. I loved getting out of the car and just hearing sheep everywhere. (I could not get enough of the baby sheep!!!) The home itself was extremely charming; pictures just can't do it justice. I knew it was a pretty old home, but I guess I didn't understand what that meant since I've never seen an old Irish home, so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The doorways were pretty short, so my 6' 3" husband looked like a giant when he walked through the doors!! That's most definitely not a complaint; we just thought it was hilarious. I love the cozy, wood burning stove and all the books. It was just so peaceful there. And I can't stop saying how cute it is. I would highly recommend staying there.
Peter's place was one of dreamy contemplations. Only wish I could stay longer. The cottage's only neighbors are the sheep, who are quite peaceful in their own right and funny to look at. You might scare them if you do some jogging. Have a glass of wine, read one of Peter's many good quality books, and enjoy the stunning view. If you want to mingle with locals, go to Ardara, a short cab ride or a pleasant walk away. Ardara is an easy going town with 2 great pubs - the Corner House and Nancy's. I've made friends the 4 days I stayed. Peter introduced me to like minded individuals. He's been very generous. He is very interesting as well and has quite the insight into the place. I urge you to stay there!
We've had a great stay at Peter's cottage, it's very cosy. We also really enjoyed the village of Ardara nearby
We loved it! Great cottage, very friendly host.
