About this listing
‘The little cottage comes with a wild and empty landscape and the peacefulness ensures the best nights sleep ever. The welcome and the chat in nearby Ardara comes for free, whilst the fantastic seafood at Nancy’s and the music and beer at the Corner House are priceless’. - Peter Lynch, author & travel writer
Whether it's romance or the need for some peace and quiet, this lovingly restored, traditional Irish cottage in the wilds of Donegal is the ideal hideaway. Set in an idyllic, remote valley, against a wild and dramatic landscape, it offers both unique location and stunning views combined with traditional charm, comfort, and warmth. Perfect for those who love nature and the outdoors.
The recently renovated cottage has two bedrooms, a living room, reception area, a galley kitchen with all modern cooking facilities and bathroom with shower and under floor heating. Step back in time with no TV or internet - the perfect place to unwind, read a book and cosy up by the fireside.
IMPORTANT: The cottage is ideally suited to a couple/ plus two children max. Due to its size, it is NOT suitable for FOUR adults.
The nearby heritage village of Ardara (recently voted 'best village to live in Ireland' by the Irish Times) is just three miles from the cottage and boasts some of the best pubs in Ireland including the legendary Nancy’s Bar (serving sea food) and the Corner House Bar, which has live traditional music almost every night of the week.
Ardara, which lies next to the sea, is host to numerous events throughout the year including an international 'walking festival' in March. A bus service operates between Letterkenny, Donegal town and Ardara. A local taxi service is also available.

In Peter's cottage you can find everything you need and you are in the middle of a wonderful and quiet countryside. Near the cottage there is the interesting village of Ardara, where you can eat, drink, listen to irish music in the pubs and do shopping of donegal crafts. Highly Recommended.
Geweldig oude cottage. Mooi schoon op een prima locatie. Waar is het nog rustiger? Prima mogelijkheden om het noord-westen van Ierland van hieruit te verkennen.
The cottage is a great way to have a rustic, but comfortable experience. Peter has provided modern conveniences, but in the confines and spirit of an earlier time and way of living, so no Internet or television. Cottage is accurately described in the host's listing and in the many reviews posted by visitors.
Peter is friendly, knowledgeable of the local area and an excellent host. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends.
Peter made us feel very welcome. He had lots of good local knowledge from walks to pubs..all much appreciated. The cottage is perfect..everything we needed for a weeks break. We loved the setting and even despite the weather the area is stunning. We will be back and would highly recommend.
A simple but beautiful house in the countryside, the perfect place to hide from the world and relax for a few days. It's also a good place to make day trips in the region. Peter is a great host.
Danke!
Peter's cottage more than lived up to expectations. Not only is the place both practical and charming, it comes with the entire Glendoan Valley for walks and vistas. Peter was helpful and friendly but also gave us our space. We bumped into him at the local bar one afternoon and had a lovely talk. A Great Airbnb experience!
