I have a 2 bedroom garden apartment, downstairs within my house, which is situated on the waterfront of Devonport, directly across the harbor from the CBD and city lights of Auckland. Devonport is listed as a Heritage Village of Significance within the Auckland City Centre. Devonport is a 10 minute ferry ride across the water from the city, and my home is a 5-7 minute flat walk, from the terminal. The apartment offers a large living/dining room, with 40" Samsung LED TV, Cable TV, DVD and HDD dock. In the kitchen I have provided a Ceramic Cooktop, Fan Forced Oven, Fridge, Electric Frying pan, Electric Wok, Sandwich Press and Microwave. Along with a toaster and kettle. There is a sink, and all the associated kitchen utensils, and being upstairs, if you need anything else just ask. The bathroom is newly renovated has a nice big shower and great Hot water pressure. The bedrooms are also large, with 1 Queen size bedroom, dresser and built in wardrobe, a Double bedroom, with built ins and 2 single beds in another Bedroom. There is a full ironing board, iron, clothes airer,Clothes Dryer, vacuum cleaner and hair dryer.
The village of Devonport is basically at the ferry terminal, a flat walk along the waterfront to a full Supermarket, other speciality shops, cafes, restaurant, wine shops etc, and from there all the exploring of Devonport you can do. There is a bus network from the ferry terminal up into the North Shore, and you can get the ferry back to the city where you have right outside the main Ferry terminal doors the full Auckland network of Bus, Trains and Taxi's. You are also in the Heart of the CBD and Shopping.
From the airport you can catch a cab ( approx NZ$130) or the Airport express bus for NZ$16 per person, which will within 45 minutes approx. set you down at directly adjacent to the ferry terminal. You then catch the ferry to Devonport NZ$5.50, when you get off at Devonport, you turn left along the waterfront.
Note: The Second Queen bedroom is only available if required.
Guests have access to the Garden Apartment, either via the Main entrance door off the garden, or via an undercover door in the garage. Use of the undercover area, the garden and side pathways.

I am on the premises upstairs, and available, by knocking on the front door, or emails/txt etc.
No smoking inside please, there is a covered pergola just outside the door. Please remove shoes's before coming inside to look after the carpet. Please be aware you are in an old Villa, and noise can carry.Please turn off the iron, after use. If you want Washing done, I will run it through my washing machine,& you can hang it out. No illegal downloading or excess use of the Broadband please. No Parties...
Great place - comfortable, private and relaxing. Gracious host who made me feel very welcome. Easy level walk to shops, cafes and restaurants, with 10 minute ferry ride to the city. Very much enjoyed my stay, will be back.
This is the place to stay! Anthony was a great host. He was very welcoming and helpful with directions. You cannot beat this location. His home was relaxing and comfortable. I will be coming back! Almost forgot, go to his restaurant Corelli's and order the steak burger.
We we're 5 friends staying at Anthonys accomodation for 10 days and we couldn't be happier with our stay! Everything was very clean and everyone of us liked staying there. From the accomodation it only takes minutes to the CBD if you're taking the ferry and you got everything you need in walking distance (supermarket, post office, etc.) also Devonport is a really nice place to spend some time.
Anthony welcomed us very warm and helped us with everything we needed. We would definitely recommend staying with him!
Two families were staying at the place for the vacation. This one week stay left everyone a happy experience. Anthony, you are my champ! You gave me such a fabulous place and then I could provide my brother and his friends with a happy week in Auckland. Tons of thanks, mate!
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Anthony's place in Devonport, NZ. It is a fantastic location right on the Auckland harbour, a few minutes walk to Auckland CBD (or actually a few minutes walk to the ferry that will take you straight into the centre of the Auckland central business district after a 10 minute ride). It is also a few minutes from the lovely Devonport village with lots of convenince shopping, cafe and meals outlets and even a picture cinema. That together with the number of walks to beaches, lookouts around the harbour. Also nearby ferries to island locations (Waiheke Island thoroughly recommended) makes this a prime place to stay in Devonport.
The accommodation in Anthony's 1880's villa backs up the superb location. With your own private entrance, there is ample bedding options, a sun filled kitchen / lounge room, and updated bathroom facilities available. All linen is clean and fresh, and we were lucky enough to have some fresh flowers provided during our stay as well. There is access to outdoor seating and barbeque facilities. While we were there, a storm was raging outside one night and we slept through - goes to show it is a private and tranquil place.
On top of all this, Anthony is the consummate host, nothing was too much trouble for him and he loved to offer suggestions on things to see and do around Auckland, as well as places to eat. Anthony himself runs a really nice little cafe in Devonport called Corelli's :-)
All in all nothing bad to report about our wonderful stay with Anthony in Devoport.
Anthony's apartment is a lovely homely place to stay, in a superb spot! It has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the ability to catch some sun in the private back garden is an added bonus! Although not present when we stayed, Anthony was very considerate in ensuring we had everything we needed and communicated excellently throughout. We will definitely be returning. Thank you :)
The location of this suite is all that it really has to offer. It is ideal for getting to the City and to Waiheke Island, and Devenport is a quaint little village with lots of interesting shops, views and walks.
I was disappointed with the suite as you enter through the garage door into the basement. There is no view to the water from the suite (misleading photos from the owners floor) only out to the garden at the back.
The suite is very well equipped but is 'tired' and needs thoroughly cleaning and a good coat of paint.
We asked for two bedrooms and only one bed was made up , so the single bed was quickly made up for me:(
The internet connection was very good, and the TV and channels very good.
Parking was a bit of an issue, as the ferry traffic/commuters took the spaces out front from about 7.30 -4.30pm, so if you left in the morning you would have to return later than these times to be able to park near the house.
I suggest the owner make it clear it is a basement garden suite with no views to the waterside of the house and clean it up and repaint.
I'm sorry you feel let down in some area's Alistair, please allow me to respond. There is an email trail in which there is NO request for an extra bed, so that is simply untrue. Derek who looked after you, asked on 2 occasions if everything was ok, to which you responded, yes. I emailed you asking if all was well, to which I quote you replied ' yes, fine thanks' There is a garden door entrance/exit many people use, as you could have, the garage entrance is undercover, and suits many people. In regard to Old / Tired, it's an Old villa, it's not meant to be modern, that's the point, please refer to other reviews, most people love it. There is new carpet, 12 months ago, it was painted 3 years ago, and again I refer to the reviews it's very clean, it's a part of my house. Thankyou.
