Come stay in your home away from home...in the tropics. 2 blocks away from 2 great surfing beaches. Our light filled suite has an en suite Bathroom, AC, WIFI, and a hearty breakfast are included. Monkeys in the backyard possible....
This is the perfect place to come to escape the cold, dreary US winter and relax.
Come stay with us in our Surf House - 2 blocks from a gorgeous surfing beach and 2 blocks from another beautiful swimming beach. I moved down to Costa Rica from NYC (trading in my high heels for flip flops!) to surf every day and enjoy the beach, and I hope you can do the same. We have a large house, and have a 2nd floor suite - with a private bathroom - available.
The room overlooks our private pool, and opens up onto a balcony with a beautiful sun deck, which can be used for reading, relaxing and/or morning yoga!
Playa Langosta is a upscale area that's part of Tamarindo. It's a great neighborhood to stay in to enjoy Costa Rica, surf at the nearby breaks in Langosta, and walk on Tamarindo Beach, while being a little separate from Tamarindo. (In other words, you won't hear loud music at night from the clubs!) Tamarindo is a 1/2 mile away, and you can rent bikes nearby.
Breakfast included. We will serve you a delicious hot, hearty typical breakfast. Please let us know if you have any food preferences or needs.
Tamarindo is an amazing place to surf. If you are interested in surfing or learning to surf, my husband is a professional surf instructor and would be happy to take you on surf tours to the fantastic surf breaks nearby, or to give you lessons - if you're just starting out.
Lastly, I'm from NYC. My husband is a Costa Rican surfer. This combination ensure we'll be able to pamper you - the way you want - but you can also get a taste of the REAL Costa Rica. If you're here during the US Winter, we'll can take you to a typical Costa Rica Fiesta, including the Rodeo. It's a LOT of fun and authentic.
We are so excited to have you stay with us!
You will have the best time ever.
We know you will respect our home. We are a young family, including a 3 year old - and we'd ask you to understand that if you want to be out late and be loud, you should, but please keep the party outside after dark.
I feel very lucky to have been able to book this incredible value on such short notice! Now that I'm home...it almost feels like a dream. I stayed in the large room for two and it was bar far the BEST deal out of the the entire wedding party of 55 people from all over the world who booked months in advance.
The location worked perfectly for me as I had family/friends of the wedding party staying in multiple beach locations along the beach in Playa Longosta and knew I would only be in my room for quick changes of clothes and to sleep.
The awesome a/c and fan were exactly what I needed when I got back home each night and the wifi quickly helped me feel right at home with the ability to freely connect all my devices and stay caught up with the rest of the world.
The closet was great and provided plenty of storage to quickly give me the ability to hid the fact that I completely over packed for this awesome super hot/humid area of the world.
Helena, Carlos and their adorable little one are inspirational to say the very least. They are welcoming, kind and were awesome in their communication via emails/texts about anything and everything (including I'm lost, this is what I see, how do I get back? They're reply was spot on and lead me right to front door!!)
Breakfast was awesome and I definitely saw and heard my share of monkeys : )
Every day I stayed at this beautiful house, I felt like the deal I got on this website was more and more amazing. Not sure which is more valuable to me- the quality of the room, great A/C and part where I felt safe and welcome OR the part where I had money to spend on food/fun thanks to all the money I didn't have to spend on a room anywhere else in Playa Longosta.
Thanks so much Fogarty Family!!
Great place to stay and in a solid location. Room & House exactly as described. Would stay again and you should to.
Wonderful family. Incredibly helpful hosts. Their location is just right. Not in the middle of Tamarindo- the crowded places - but more towards langosta- ideal for peace of mind. Best breakfast place. Friendly and comfortable place to stay.
we stayed in the larger room for two. This was not good value for money. The house is not well maintained which means that screens have holes in them(hello mosquitoes) the pool looks dirty and uninviting, and the kitchen's cleanliness leaves much to be desired. It is a beautiful house, but just needs a little love and care. Breakfast was meager.
Katrina and her cousin (Serge's wife) stayed at our place while we were away over the holidays, and we're so sorry to hear about their dissatisfaction! This is the first we heard of any complaints. If we had heard any dissatisfaction while they were staying in our place, we would have addressed it immediately .
We are back and have replaced the screens. We have a cleaning lady a few times a week, and clean in between, as well. As far as breakfast, we've never had that complaint before, but we were not here personally to oversee, so that's our fault.
We are terribly sorry to hear that Katrina and her cousin were displeased. They did not express any issues while they were here, and in fact hung out with the people that were taking care of our house, went on (free) surf trips with them, and ate a (free) Christmas feast prepared by a professional chef while they were here. I'm not sure if they would have had that experience anywhere else without paying hundreds of dollars more.
As far as value, neither Katrina nor her cousin booked our place. Katrina's husband Serge did. Thus I'm sure that they do not have a good understanding of the prices in the area. Especially during the holidays, Tamarindo is full. It's the peak period of time. Because someone else booked and paid for the room, I'm not sure they can speak to the value of the experience.
We work hard to create a warm, welcoming, comfortable, safe and clean place to stay. We take any criticism to heart, and work to improve continually. If we had heard any complaints while they were here, we would've addressed them immediately. I'm so sorry they were dissatisfied!
Helena was very helpful and responsive leading up to our arrival, she helped us update our booking last minute and secure travel to Tamarindo. This was our first shared Air BnB experience and we felt like it gave us good local exposure. Daniella - our host for the week made us a fresh fruit breakfast each day. She welcomed us into her home, helped us out with surf lessons, showed us around - it was very thoughtful.
Lovely villa ten mins off the beaten track. Pictures are accurate. Booked the night before and had a quick response. Home clean and spacious with private pool and balcony. Found the location
Perfect surf vacations! The room was clean and cozy. The access to the gallery is very nice. Good breakfast every morning with a lot of fruit and local food.
Elena and Carlos were very nice and good-natured. They help us find the right activities and make the calls. Carlos is a very good surf instructor, and his rates are a lot lower than what you can find in town!
Perfect spot right betweem Langosta and Tamarindo. I would have stayed much longer! Definitely a place I would go back
Thanks again for the great vacations

Hi! My name is Helena Fogarty.
I'm the owner and founder of Mi Ola Surf. I lived in Manhattan (LES) for 15 years and worked in fashion, before relocating down to Costa Rica. Yes - I'm one of those people who actually ditched the city and moved to paradise. Due to my business, I am commuting back to NYC often and using Airbnb to help me find affordable and great accommodations (THANK YOU!)
I will be coming to the city 1 or 2 times a month for a couple days with my business partner to sell Mi Ola and look for investors. I would love to stay in your place, and have you be part of the Mi Ola success story!
