The Space

Positano B&B is on an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds with a pool and waterfall. There are many private areas to relax and read or be entertained by the desert wildlife. This bedroom has a double bed and french doors opening onto a wonderful flagstone patio with an upholstered bench for reading and a little chiminea fireplace for those chilly evenings. So romantic! The flowers and shrubs were especially chosen to attract butterflies.
The newly updated bathroom is down a short hallway and would be shared with the guest in Sweet! if that room is booked as well. We keep it sparkling clean and the shower is wonderful.

We live in a quiet residential neighborhood with meandering streets and gentle hills. It is a great place to walk or jog. A few blocks away you can jump on the Rillito River Park Trail which is a popular running/biking/skating/walking trail that crosses the entire city. We have a couple bikes here and we'd be happy to loan them to you.

Tucson National Golf Resort is about a mile away if you like golfing. Or eating.. the restaurant is nice too. Tucson is full of fabulous golf courses and hiking trails and all kinds of outdoor activities.

Foothills Mall is about a mile away for the fashionista in you. There are countless restaurants in the neighborhood as well. The I-10 freeway is conveniently close to us.

If you ask, I would be happy to email you a link listing all Tucson events for the time you are interested in visiting... there's always a lot going on in the Old Pueblo.

  • Little oasis in Tucson! Ruthann and JR made us feel really welcome and it is such a warm and inviting home. We loved our afternoons spent by the pool in the middle of a beautiful garden; we saw so much wildlife including rabbits, hummingbirds and loads more we can't name, right from our private patio. Great location and we would really recommend Vivace restaurant and Frost Gelato both recommended by our awesome hosts. We'll be coming back when we are next in Tucson!

    Thanks again!

  • I had a really terrific stay with Ruthann and JR! Their home and the grounds are beautiful and private, and the pool is wonderful in the heat. Your hosts are so friendly; it felt like staying with family friends who were opening up their home to you and were easy to chat with, but still gave you your privacy when you wanted it. You need a car to get to the downtown about 15 minutes away on the highway. This was part of a bigger US trip for me, and this stop was the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure (try driving up Mt. Lemmon and the Desert Museum!).

  • Big thanks to the wonderful hosts Ruthann and JR. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and open. Good conversation and local info. Comfortable bed and nicely appointed room. Did not use the pool, but looked inviting. Nice quiet area.

  • Ruthann and JR are fantastic hosts who really make you feel at home in their charming house. The breakfast is great! For the health conscious, you must try Ruthann's 'green monster' smoothie, which will give you an amazing, energy filled start to the day. The house is really cozy and fun, well decorated, and above all musical; JR enjoys an impromptu, bluesy, strum on his guitars of an afternoon. They're an artistic, tasteful couple who will eagerly get to know you, but will also give you plenty of privacy and space if that's what you desire. We would definitely stay there again if we're in the area again!

  • My one-night stay with Ruthann and JR left me hoping to return; they were great hosts! I loved Sweet too's comfy queen bed, ceiling fan and French doors opening onto a sunny patio where I sat and watched the birds and critters as I woke up. JR was my morning host, making me feel like an honored guest and friend, and treating me to a taste of his gifted guitar playing.. Their home is a special place that sounds like it continues to express their creativity. Thank you Ruthann and JR!

  • As the name says, the place was very sweet! The only bad side was that we could stay there only two nights. We highly recommend this place; everything was clean and beautiful, the yard (with pool) was so nice place to relax and Ruthann and JR were so friendly and helpful during our stay. Definitely the best accommodation during our roadtrip! :)

  • Eric and I absolutely loved Ruthann & JR's sweet Southwest home. It's warmly and colorfully decorated, and we enjoyed sitting out on the patio off our roo, taking in all the greenery.

The breakfast was perfect for getting a start on a busy day. We loved the fresh fruit etc. and the green drink, too.

Last but not least, we both had a good night's sleep on the comfortable queen bed.

Retired American Airlines
I am retired (yippee!) American Airlines. My husband JR and I love having guests in our home. JR plays guitar for fun and creates beautiful landscapes for a living. If we could travel ALL the time we would. We have been on some great trips and especially love Mexico, Guatemala and Spain. There are so many places yet to experience . We can't travel all the time, so lucky for us that we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth...the Sonoran desert. We both love to immerse ourselves in creative projects here at home and so our surroundings have become this endless Home Improvement Project. We figured out a long time ago that we like the process more than the end result, and we'll never ever run out of ideas. There is usually music around this house. JR is often working on a blues song or jazzy instrumental and he loves an audience. I've started a little jewelry business and I dream of traveling to fun places, staying with Airbnb folks along the way and funding it with my jewelry money. Tucson has a wonderful International Gem Show in the spring so it's a perfect source for my beads and charms. Tucson also has fabulous hiking trails so we hike em. There are wonderful yoga studios so I vinyasa in em. Biking trails abound and we like to do that too. Our dog Lucy gets along well with people. She may bark when you first arrive but she is all bark, no bite. So, there. Now you have a little info about us. Now come on down!
