Located in beautiful Hawaiian Paradise Park in the Puna District of Hawaii Island. The hale is less than a mile from the ocean with a view of both Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa from your lanai. The environment is very peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating.
2007 Toyota Yaris 3-door Hatchback available to rent for $35 per day.
Relax and unwind in the natural beauty that is Puna. Our new Hawaiian style plantation hale is located in beautiful Hawaiian Paradise Park on a full acre. Located equal distance between Keaau and old Pahoa where shopping, dining, gasoline and markets are less than 15 minutes from your front door. Hilo town is just 14 miles away.
Because the hale is on an acre of land you have complete privacy. You can watch the sun set behind Mauna Loa from your lanai or drive 1 mile to the ocean and have a picnic or take a walk. Later while relaxing and star gazing on the large screened in lanai you'll feel as though you are a million miles from everywhere.
But in fact, you are centrally located to every major natural attraction in the Puna and Volcanoes districts of the Big Island. Want to watch the sun set into the ocean and the lava flow at night? Drive fifteen minutes and you will be able to do both from the same location. Rejuvenating thermal ponds and multiple tide pools with spectacular coral and sea life are 15 minutes from your hale. Beautiful Kehena Black Sand Beach is just twenty minutes away. Volcanoes National Park which boasts the island's best hiking is 28 miles away. Famous for its sea turtle population, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach is a short and scenic one hour drive. Green Sand Beach and South Point are also within reach just beyond the Kau Desert at the edge of Volcanoes National Park.
Our hale is comfortably appointed in island style furnishings with the emphasis on comfort and modern amenities. Nine foot high open beam ceilings, pine walls, and wood flooring in the main living space provide a very attractive environment. Each bedroom has bamboo flooring and ceiling fans. Each bath has a tub shower, pedestal sink and tile flooring. The large screened-in lanai allows for outdoor relaxation, dining and socializing.

Interaction with Guests
Guest are free and have the entire acre to themselves.
The sea breeze, the privacy, being on a Hawaiian Island in a rural neighborhood.
Bus service from the main road.
This a non-smoking hale. Pets are not allowed. Shoes are not to be worn in the house. For monthly guests a maximum of $200 per month is paid by me for electricity. Any additional amount is the responsibility of the guest. An average electricity bill for (2) people for one month is $175 so there is seldom an over usage problem. Upon departure all dishes must be done, rubbish removed from the hale and no more than (2) loads of laundry left for the housekeeper. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your security deposit. Furnishings and decorations must be in their original locations. If they were moved during your stay but not put back where they belong you will forfeit your security deposit.
What a beautiful place in a dream-like environment, and with a caring and helpful host! Hale Pua Ula is in the rainforest, in a beautiful lush garden. The coqui sound is so much soothing that we slept with open windows every night to enjoy this music; day time geckos are so beautiful! Breakfast in the lanai was unbeatable, and staying in this Hale was delightful. It’s close to the village (5-10 min by car), and a perfect base to explore Puna & Hilo areas. Yet far away enough to enjoy a nature-oriented retreat. Tamara was close to us every time we wanted an advise, and was very flexible and accommodating. Hosts like her are what make AirBnB a great concept! Thanks Tamara! Till next time :)
We really enjoyed your stay in the house. House is really nice.
Our host (Tamara) is wonderful, she took care of everything we needed.

I was born in Silver Lake, CA and still live there. I am a small business owner who loves the Big Island of Hawaii. I built 3 homes there so that I would have good reason to visit often. When I built my homes I thought of what makes me comfortable when I travel and designed and furnished my them with that in mind. It brings me joy for my guests to enjoy my hales - bringing joy is what they were built to do!
