About this listing
A great house for families with kids. 2 bedrooms accommodate couples, and one is set up for kids with a bunk bed (2 twin mattresses) and a crib.
Well equipped kitchen (we love to cook), a sunny deck with an outdoor couch and open-plan living.
Our home is located in a lovely, untouristy and close-to-all-things-cool neighborhood in San Francisco.
Open floor plan, lots of light, a great deck right off the kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 2 upstairs (one sofa bed that opens into an almost-queen, and one kid room with a twin bunk bed as well as a crib). Modern furniture, kamado grill and a little backyard! in San Francisco! We love to cook and our kitchen is well appointed. The master bedroom is downstairs in our architect-design modern space. It has a comfortable queen size bed, and a beautiful all cedar bathroom. The office space and laundry are also (URL HIDDEN) is the cool wine cellar!
You will feel very comfortable in this easy-going house. It's kid friendly: toys and gates. We have wi-fi throughout the house.
Our place is perfect for a family looking to have their own space and a common space to gather and cook, eat, play games or watch movies together. It's a great base for visiting the whole area.
The whole house, but the wine is off-limits :)
Our neighborhood is super nice in and of itself, with awesome views of the city (top of Bernal hill!) and next to a big park.
Check out Cortland street:
Playground behind the library
Goodlife: independent grocery store
Pinkie’s and Little Bee bakeries for great coffee, croissants and pastries
Avedano’s for excellent meat
Pinhole cafe to hang out
Heartfelt for gifts
Chloe’s closet: used stuff for kids (toys and clothes)
Great local restaurants:
Red Hill Station (Seafood), Vega (Italian), Piqueos (Peruvian) and Bernal Star (Burgers)
Third Cousin for fine dining
Epicurean and 331 Cortland are lovely little markets where you can get food to go. I love the Thai place ‘Ma Krua’ - you can get a fresh coconut there!
The 67 bus stop is right across the street and takes you straight to the Mission (if you don't want to walk 10 minutes...that hill is steep!) and to the BART.
Other Things to Note
We've done some remodeling/repainting since the pictures were taken so you'll see some changes.
The house is not great for parties or big groups because the two adult bedrooms are really only good for couples, and the kids' room will only sleep kids, maybe teenagers.
Welcome to our home!
If you wish to watch a DVD, use the computer in the downstairs bedroom. You can also use the computer to stream movies and shows from netflix. Just go to (URL HIDDEN) and use the ‘Friends’ profile. There are also a bunch of kids movies on iTunes.
(We are a TV-less household and use personal devices to stream shows)
Explore and help yourselves. Most everything goes in the dishwasher but for big knives, steak knives, and wooden tools.
Dishwasher tabs in cabinet above sink.
Please help yourselves to fruits or any perishables in the fridge (eggs, milk etc…)
Trash collection is Tuesday morning. Could you please take bins out on Monday night and back in after collection?
Please recycle: we use grocery paper bags (in the cleaning supplies closet, top shelf)
and please compost: stainless steel bin is on the kitchen counter. Compostable bags under the sink. Best to take compost out every day or every other day and place in the big green bin in the garage.
If unsure, go to (URL HIDDEN) to check what goes where.
Thank you for being mindful of your water use.
Washer and dryer are down in the closet of the master bedroom. Self-explanatory to use. Help yourselves to detergent.
Towels will be laid out for your use. If you need more they are in the upstairs linen cabinet.
Help yourselves to all bathroom implements.
Could you please take the mail inside?
We prefer shoes off in the house as much as possible. And no food on the couch :)
Parking is easy on the street. You can usually get a spot in front of the house. If we’re away with the car then feel free to use the garage. BEWARE of street cleaning signs! Wednesdays and Thursdays and alternate side, between 12 and 2pm.
In the garage you’ll find camping chairs, folding chairs, sand toys, balls, a woman’s bicycle and helmet. You are welcome to use any of it.
Around 11, noon-ish (to leave time for cleaners to work). Remove all used bedding off the beds and bring downstairs by the washing-machine. Please start one load.
Make yourselves at home, and enjoy the neighborhood!
Originally from Paris, very happily transplanted in San Francisco. I was formerly an environmental advocate. I still care about the environment (don't forget to compost!) but I am now focusing on raising my two boys.
