Carol left a handwritten greeting in the kitchen which I immediately saw upon arrival. The room was just as she described. Carol has many Buddhist statues, crystals and the like decorating her home which lent an overall Zen feeling to my stay. I awoke each morning to the sounds of birds and a view of the lake. I read on the deck and walked barefoot through the grass. The stay was exactly what I was hoping for, and more! Carol is an excellent hostess and I sincerely hope I get a chance to visit again in the future!
I came up to Carol's place on the lake during a very hot time and perhaps naively I was at first disappointed that there was no air conditioning in her house. Then I'm a spoiled New Yorker! But her waterbed was quite comfortable, it did get cooler in the evening, and the window fan was quite adequate. I was very comfortable indeed!
Carol was quite welcoming. But I will say that her offerings for breakfast were quite slim. She advised me to help myself to breakfast - but olive oil butter and English muffin, rice milk and espresso shots made for a rather meager breakfast. But I did spend two nights, so I walked down to a nearby spot on the lake the next morning for a more substantial cup of coffee and more.
So, if I were to come again, I might bring a quart of milk - but I should ask how to make a real cup of coffee! Carol left me pretty much by myself.
I stayed here two nights during a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Carol made both check-in and check-out very easy, and was very prompt in answering messages. The little bit that we chatted I found her to be delightful. She's very knowledgeable about the area, and was very interesting to chat with. At other times I found her to be highly accessible but not at all invasive.
I'd describe the main floor as "rustic new age"... and I mean that as a high compliment. It has a very cozy feel (like being "home"), but it's also a very peaceful zen-like space... kind of like a little spiritual retreat. I found the bed to be very comfortable, and particularly liked that the front room (shown in the cover photo) is considered part of the private area for guests staying in the lower level. It was like having a private little office throughout my stay, with a desk and executive leather chair looking out over the beautiful lake.
I loved it here!
What a nice relaxing space. Carol was very accommodating and made arrangements for me to get in when she was not there to meet me on arrival. A nice comfortable bed, and adjoining office sitting area that overlooked a nice deck with a great lake view. Nice to have fans in the window as well as it as a warm afternoon. Never got the chance to meet her, but judging by the great condition of the place I'd say she's a very attentive and welcoming host. I'd welcome the opportunity for a return visit.
Carol has a very nice home tucked away from the city noise in Billerica. I had a great experience, as I had a lot of quiet time which I needed. This is a nice summer home as are a lot of older homes in New England. I stayed for a week while commuting. There is no traffic in Billerica so it is easy to get in and out. The Burlington mall is close and there are a couple places to eat. However this is suburbia, so you have to grocery shop or go out to eat early. Thankfully, I had plenty of storage inside the refrigerator. Parking in the driveway is a little tight for a large car/SUV, but doable.
The host Carol was very accommodating. Very quiet neighborhood, but close to main access roads and highways. Great location on the edge of a lake with a wonderful view. Comfortable bed with adjacent office room to work with fast internet access. Would stay again
Host was kind. The place perhaps is better in the summer, with the place aired out; room has a lake view. Good for one nights stay for one person.
