Our greeter was very professional and helpful and ensured everything in the flat was working well - the flat is ideal for a short trip to Rome. It is well appointed and perfectly located. Would definitely recommend.
Merci Betsy !!
Elegant is not the right word. Prefer "INELEGANT'" !
- pictures are really far from reality
- the only (!!) room is a very very little one, very hot. a pretty good bed. The second bed in the living room, even as a sofa is not so bad.
- kitchenwares are more than basic, amost ridiculous
- the shower in the bathroom is very cheap
- very noisy street and very noisy building stairs giving directly on your bedroom
- and to conclude, managed by an agency (not the AIRBNB spirit), the guy who received us knew nothing about the apartment and the reservation
This apartment is not the elegant 4-person residence it claims to be. Granted, it
is situated in the very heart of Trastevere, which makes exploring this neighbourhood and historic Rome easy. However, it is on the first floor in a narrow street with the terrace of a trattoria directly below, so it gets noisy until deep in the night.
The apartment boasts high ceilings, which is a nice touch. The sitting room is qute spacious fto Roman standards. But the rooms are stuck in an eighties timewarp, decorated with furniture that is mismatched. A huge wardrobe with shelves dominates the sitting room, decorated with cheap knickknacks: a golden clock that does not work, two empty photoframes, plastic flowers and a porcelain elephant. The apartment is only clean on the surface. We found dirty rags in the bathroom, clearly used by the maid. A bathroom mat full of grey human hairs and mud was left to put our feet on after our shower. Old crusts of parmesan cheese were left under the dining room table and a few thick spiderwebs floated from the ceiling. Of the few lamps that were put up, only half had lightbulbs in them. A broken standing lamp had the electrical wires stuck out. All this gave the apartment an uninviting, careless look.
This apartment claims to be suited for 4 people. This is not true. The matrimonial bed is only 140 centimeters wide, so one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed, which was not made up, although that was promised beforehand. The matress on the sofa bed was much broader that the actual frame, so staying on the bed was a challenge. The matrimonial bed is located in a corridor-room between the bathroom and sitting room, and has no doors. So you won’t have any privacy, as one needs to walk directly past the bed to reach the lavatory.
The apartment sadly offers no wifi, although there is a working internet connection. We were also not happy that we had to sign a form with full creditcard details and security code, before we got the key. This is in violation of the airbnb code.
Granted, for 80 euro’s in the heart of Rome, one should not expect too much. After a few days we were used to the minor points of this apartment and enjoyed the location. However, we hope the owner can use this review to improve conditions. Perhaps we will then be tempted to return.
We loved it! The apartment is in a great location and had everything we needed. A great base while exploring Roma.
