The City of Cheese, Sausage Bra, Slow Food and the Piedmontese Baroque. A magical place in the Langhe and Roero.
Located in the hills of Roero, a land of "fortresses", vineyards and castles, the city of Bra is a crossroads of history, culture and culinary excellence. Of ancient origins, has roots that sink in the neolithic age and affecting the Roman Empire and the Savoy dynasty, traces of which are still visible on the ground. Today it is a city of over 30 000 inhabitants, famous in Italy and around the world for being the home of the Slow Food movement, for its excellent sausage, for events of international openness and for being one of the cradles of the Piedmontese Baroque.
Walking through its streets and discover its squares, will not pass unnoticed the rounded facade of the town hall, the church of Santa Chiara, a masterpiece of royal Bernardo Antonio Vittone, the Trinity Church, also known as the "Beaten Smith." And then, the museums of Natural History, Art and Archaeology and the Toy and the central Via Cavour, venue, coffee and local historians, where he used to spend his days the writer Giovanni Arpino. Not to mention the Zizzola, symbol of the city, from the top of the hill Monteguglielmo, the Seer. And then, there Pollenzo, his best-known fraction, whose square is an architectural complex of buildings that recall the ancient glories of one of the private residences of the royal family. Within these ancient rooms, for some years at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in its courses involving students from all over the world, and the distinctive tower that dominates the square hosts an original Bank of the wine is stored and where some of the aged most famous cru tricolor.
Bra is also a land of good food and good wine, excellent with known and appreciated beyond national borders. Who has not heard of the famous Bra sausage, veal sausage served raw and directly authorized by the House of Savoy? Not to mention the cheese, which is named after the city itself: Bra Dop - soft and hard - delight for the palate and the senses, celebrated along with cheeses from around the world with the international event "Cheese! The forms of milk. " And, again, the fresh fruits and vegetables, bread ... to end up with a sandwich "local and slow", the Mac 'd Bra, which contains a single bite all flavors of the region. A precious heritage that Bra, one of the four founders of the Italian Slow Cities movement, also values in everyday life, with a service of school meals among the most advanced in Italian, complete with quality certification ISO 9001, and the use of products kilometer zero.
My husband and I, our 2 sons and my mother thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bra. The apartment was spacious and had all the necessary amenities. Barbara was very responsive and her mother and father were very helpful. The apartment's location is very central and there are many good cafes and restaurants within an easy walking distance. The weekly market is located just below the building and the parking space is absolutely great.
Barbara's house in Bra was very well located and her mother was very helpful in letting us in and helping us get settled.
The house had ample space and comfortably fit 4 people. Overall we had a nice stay in Bra.
Die Wohnung war toll! Zentrale Lage, Parkplatz im Hof, Bars und Restaurants direkt vor der Haustür.
Die Kommunikation mit Barbara war schnell und
unkompliziert. Schlüsselübergabe hat prima geklappt.
Falls wir wieder nach Bra kommen buchen wir die
Wohnung sicher wieder!
Barbara's apartment was perfect, and communication with Barbara couldn't have been better. She was super responsive, and helped with advice on local restaurants etc. and then there's her apartment itself- perfectly located, and perfect in every way for me, my husband and our son for 3 days in Bra - walking distance to everything in Bra, and easy access to nearby towns and attractions.
Barbara’s apartment is in the gorgeous old part of Bra, and the apartment itself is wonderfully comfortable and huge – my boyfriend and I only stayed for one night, but a family could easily stay here for a whole vacation. There are plenty of rooms and a full kitchen, and we were able to park our car in the secure back courtyard too (after a bit of a hunt to find the driveway – it’s just around the corner from the main street, behind what look like regular doors, before you get to the next intersection).
Barbara was very easy to get in touch with and communicate with over the phone and her mother was there to greet us, show us how the locks work, show us around the apartment and give us the remote control for the driveway/courtyard. And checkout was very easy: we just locked up and left the keys when we were ready to leave. There are certainly some more industrial-type areas surrounding Bra, so I would DEFINITELY recommend Barbara's apartment for anyone staying in Bra and wanting to see the beautiful part of town, or even wanting to visit nearby Alba or Asti. Alba is not very far away by car, and we had a wonderful night dining al fresco and walking around the streets there. In the morning, there are plenty of great, quiet cafés in Bra, and lots of wandering to enjoy.
We had a great stay in Bra. Liberty House is very central
, making it easy to get around. Accomodation was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. Barbara was very flexible when we wanted to extend our stay. We were very happy with our choice to stay here.
We all enjoyed our stay at Barbara's place in Bra. Conveniently located in the town centre close to coffee shops (for the necessary morning Espresso) right above a bakery and with its own private parking space, the apartment has everything you need for a visit to this wonderful part of Italy. Barbara is very helpful in coordinating arrival and her mother was friendly and warm when greeting us and showing as around the apartment. We hope to stay here again!
