Come to New York for an exciting holiday getaway- and make this your home away from home!
We had a great stay. The apartment was clean and surprisingly quiet for an urban environment. Parking was good, in context, with a spot usually open somewhere within 2 blocks. Tyler was very accommodating. Responding quickly with in-app communication. We would definitely stay here again!
A great apartment--lots of personality and quiet, even though the neighborhood is lively and near the subway. And Tyler was a good host.
Neighborhood very nice, Tyler sent keys to my address as needed. Cute apartment, unfortunately, it was not cleaned by prior renters before our arrival which we found discomforting. Need to fix that issue, otherwise a nice place and a great location.
Tyler's place was a clean and unique experience located very close to the center of Jackson Heights. The neighborhood felt safe and you can easily walk to the main street in 5 minutes where the train runs above. Plenty of restaurants nearby serving lots of Colombian and Indian food. It's only a 15-20 min ride to Manhattan, even a shorter ride the opposite way to Flushing (7 Train) if you're interested in trying authentic Chinese cuisine. If you are visiting NYC for the X time or even your first time and would like to have an authentic cultural experience that isn't confined to Manhattan I highly recommend you consider Jackson Heights. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the place was a relaxing way to end the day.
I am very happy to have stayed at Tyler's Jackson Heights apartment for one month in July/August 2014. The apartment is very comfortable, well equipped, quiet (it's at the rear of the building so minimal street noise) and conveniently located for buses and subways. The neighborhood is vibrant and diverse with many amenities (including the public library just one block away). Communications with Tyler were easy, and booking was a breeze. Tyler and I established (by text) that we were on the same #7 subway train on my arrival day (how coincidental is that!), met on the platform at 82 Street station and walked to the apartment together. Tyler is a very personable host, and I hope to be able to book this apartment for next year's visit to NYC. Highly recommended.

About the Host, Tyler
I am a school teacher by day, teaching English Language Arts at a middle school in Queens. At night I am a musician playing at various venues around town ((website hidden)). I have lived in NYC for 5 years now and in the studio apartment for 3.
On top of teaching I am working on my Ph.D. in philosophy and spend a great deal of time reading and writing for my dissertation. I have a cabin upstate and spend a lot of weekends up there writing.
This is why I feel I can offer my apartment for temporary visitors.
When I travel I like to either stay with a family or in a hostel. Most of my time is spent out in the city soaking up the culture. I am looking for visitors who are quiet and respectful and who want a private apartment so they won't be exhausted by hostel-living or drained by the expense of a hotel.
When stay at my place you will have it all to yourself. I am a hands-off host who will provide you with what you need and then get out of your hair.
