Interaction with Guests

I love meeting new people & that's part of why I have been a successful and well-reviewed Airbnb host. I take care of my guests and work to make your visit to Memphis enjoyable.

My motto is that I will always do whatever makes you, the guest, feel most comfortable.

The Neighborhood

I am three short blocks from Overton Square's burgeoning & recently-renovated nightlife, theaters, world-class restaurants and shopping.

If you want, you can bike or walk to both the Cooper-Young District or Overton Park & there are many protected bike lanes both in my neighborhood and throughout the area in which I live.

Downtown Memphis is a mere 10 minutes by car or 25-30 minutes via public transit. Also, buses in Memphis do have bike racks on the front (if you should happen to be bringing your bicycle).

I recommend reviewing my Guidebook, I've included suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants and shopping in my neighborhood and beyond.

Getting around

• There are several city bus lines which run within 2 blocks of my house. Memphis public transit is most reliable during daylight hours.

• Memphis now has both Lyft and Uber! These are great ways to get around and half the cost or less of taxi services. If you have an iPhone, Android or Windows smartphone, simply provide me with your U.S. telephone number and I'll send you an invitation to both apps which gives each of us free credits.

• There are Zipcars within a few miles and at the Memphis airport. Contact me for details if you are interested in Zipcars.

• There are bike lanes on many of the major thoroughfares surrounding my neighborhood & all throughout the city of Memphis. Bike rentals are available from local shops like Revolutions Bike Shop, The Peddler or Midtown Bike Shop.

• There are taxi services, but it's best to have a phone number of a reliable driver. Please ask me & I'll gladly provide you direct numbers to taxis.

Other Things to Note

• Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere in the unit or in public areas of the building.

• While I do love animals, pets of any kind are not allowed by order of property management -- no exceptions.

  • EJ's a friendly dude, and he likes Australian Masterchef :) I had a good time staying with him in Memphis. His place is very nice and my room was massive with a private en suite.
Oh, and he's an excellent cook :) (Thanks for the meals mate)
Public transport in Memphis seemed a bit tricky to me, so I relied on Lyft and Uber to get around from EJ's, about $7 to downtown/ Beale Street. Seemed reasonable to me, but maybe just be aware

Catch you next time EJ :)

  • E.J.'s home is my home away from home! Clean and comfortable, cozy and stylish! This is my third stay with E.J., and I hope to always be able to stay there when I come to Memphis.

  • Staying at EJ's was very nice. He's a very flexible and knowledgeable host : plenty of good advice and addresses to discover Memphis.
The room is big with its own bath and the whole apartment is very clean.
I will definitely come back for another stay in Memphis.

  • E.J. is extremely friendly and hospitable. His home is spotlessly clean, lovely and comfortable. We had a fabulous stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his home to anyone.

P.S. His food recommendations are wonderful. We went out for dinner with EJ on our first night and had a great time, thank you.

  • E.J was a totally brilliant host, the room was very large with a great ensuite. He was friendly and informative of where to go in the area and how to get around, plus as an added perk I got to meet his lovely family who made me feel very welcome

  • When I made this reservation, I could not have imagined that I would meet a host so welcoming, so accommodating, and so funny and interesting. E.J. is both charming, and completely respectful of his guests' comfort and privacy. The room I rented was spacious, included a a very large window, and a private bathroom with a bath/shower with great water pressure (and plenty of clean towels). The entire apartment was sparklingly clean, airy and cool. Important to me because I like to read in bed-there were four comfy pillows, and a bedside lamp. The bed itself, a sophisticated air mattress, was very comfortable.
I was in Memphis for a much anticipated celebration, but possibly the best part of my stay was making the acquaintance of E.J. himself. A warm, funny, fascinating man about town. You will not go wrong with this choice!

  • Ej is an awesome host! Very helpful and friendly, and knows the area very well. The location is also awesome, in walking distance to the zoo and super close to downtown.

  • EJ was an absolutely fabulous host and I had a great time in Memphis staying at his place. It's in the perfect location, in Midtown between stylish Overton Square and the funky Cooper-Young district. So much to do and see locally, as well as the usual Memphis attractions. The room is huge with a great en-suite. I loved the original decor and fab furnishings. The only downside was that my stay was too short! I could have spent hours chatting with EJ and his local knowledge is super valuable. Thanks so much for having me stay and making my time in Memphis so memorable!

  • E.J. was a good host. He was generous and I felt comfortable in his apartment. I enjoyed a lot the very interesting conversations we had! Unique company :-).

    April 2014
  • E.J. was a great find in Memphis! He welcomed us into his home at the last minute, making us feel comfortable right away. He has a deep knowledge of the city and directed us to several great spots to visit and eat. On the flip side, provided plenty of privacy to do our own thing during the two nights we stayed at his home. The room and bathroom were comfy and clean and the fresh toothpaste and soap were nice touches :) E.J.'s apartment is in a great, centrally located area, which made it easy to get around, although a car is definitely needed as the public transport in Memphis isn't that prevalent.
If you plan on going, this is great place to stay! Thanks, E.J.!

Music Management & Media Services
I run a boutique music management, public relations and media services company with a small clientele. A native Memphian, I generally work from home & travel on occasion. I love cooking, biking, independent & documentary films, modern music and visual arts. I'm fascinated by skateboarding & surfing, though I'm qualified for neither. I've traveled throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. Places I look forward to traveling include UK, France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Australia, South Africa and Scandinavian countries. I've lived in a number of other cities besides Memphis & my favorite of those to revisit is New York City. If I had to guess, I'll probably end up in Los Angeles when all is said and done. But, I love living in Memphis -- the people, the food, the sights, the culture -- and I really enjoy showing my guests as many sides of the city as I can. If you're looking for something to do, I can probably point you in at least one of the right directions.
