About this listing
Room 2 is a twin to room 1 and if someone wants both rooms there is an a-joining door that can be unlocked. It was probably the best view of any of my rooms but does require a few stairs to get there. There is one double bed and ceiling fans.

We have 2 rooms with shared baths and 6 rooms with private baths. . A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and living room/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees. A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book. Sorry we do not accept children under 15.
I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.
The property has a large common area in the teak house with a big deck, living room and kitchen. There is also a TV room with cable. Sorry no arrivals after 6 pm
Interaction with Guests
I usually am here to receive my guests and answer any questions they might have. If for some reason I can't be here, my assistant will be here. We do need to know within an hour or so the time you will arrive. Because we are not a hotel we don't have someone here all day. I also don't accept people after 6 pm unless there is special circumstances.
Casa Buena Vista is simply beautiful! Ideal location situated at the top of Manuel Antonio surrounded by stunning views of natural tropical forest and turquoise ocean. The property is warm and welcoming with gorgeous architectural details and a perfect sense of tranquility. Amenities, restaurants, and a serene semi private beach are all within walkable distance. Only a quick car ride to Manuel Antonio National Park to take in the diverse and unique wildlife. Rooms are simple and spacious, with large windows to accommodate the views and the cooling breezes. The teak room is breathtaking. I highly recommend the hammock. Anita is incredibly kind and hospitable. Having traveled the world and resided in CR for so many years, she is a great resource for any information you may need during your stay. I truly appreciated getting to know her and truly did not want to leave.
Très bon accueil d'Anita, chambre très propre avec vue magnifique sur l'océan! Un cadre parfait pour se relaxer.
The room was amazing!!! The view over Manuel Antonio Is incredible and the room Is very confortable: a good bed, a private bathroom with hot water and even a fridge. You can also use a kitchen, from where you can hear and sometimes see the monkeys. Anita helps you with every kind of información and serves good breakfast. The area has a lot of restaurants and bars and a beautiful and quiet beach Is 10 minutes on foot. Everything perfect!
My quick stay at Anita's B&B was delightful. I was able to check in a little early to a clean room with a great view (room #2). The location is great, I walked to the beach and to the park entrance, and also walked to playa biesanz which was a great little beach for swimming and relaxing.
The room was spacious and included a little breakfast table; the bed was OK; breakfast was simple but tasty; the community kitchen and fridge was a nice touch and the common area/porch was great for relaxing.
Overall a great spot to stay to explore the area at a fine price.
We loved every minute of our stay in Casa Buena Vista. After sleeping in hostels for so many weeks, this lush and beautiful home away from home felt like we were living in a luxury treehouse! Our lovely room had the most incredible panoramic postcard view of Playa Manual Antonio, and being nestled in the vibrant jungle meant that we saw dozens of monkeys and birds and reptiles without ever leaving the house. Our room was clean and spacious and bright, and we received plenty of cool air and circulation from the wind and the fan (the windows don't have glass, just mosquito netting, which was awesome because it really made you feel like you were living in the jungle!). The beach is only a 10-15 min walk away, so the location is fantastic for seeing the beautiful sights, including the national park.
There is a lodge/common area which has a great kitchen and a massive patio which is perfect for monkey spotting over a cold drink. We met some really lovely guests while we were there so it gave us a great place to hang out.
Best of all, Anita our host was so lovely and welcoming. We started our days by walking up to her gorgeous kitchen area with beautiful views, and enjoyed chatting to her while enjoying a breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs and coffee. She shared great tips and stories about the area and always made sure we were comfortable.
We cannot wait to return here one day! Staying here absolutely made our adventure in Manuel Antonio truly unforgettable.
Anita and her assistant were amazing! They were both helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. Breakfast in the morning was great - fruit, eggs and toast. The room I stayed was clean and comfortable with beautiful views. The location was close to bars and restaurants and the beach. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in Manuel Antonio.
Casa Buena Vista is a great little find with a fabulous view. Anita is a wealth of information having lived in the area for quite some time. She was also more than helpful and even took me to her dentist when she went for a dental fix I needed. The property has a variety of rooms. Mine had no A/C but a great view of Punta Cathedral. As advertised! The shower had great water pressure and I liked having an extra sin in the room. Comfortable bed!
Breakfast was always enjoyable and good, and often an opportunity for conversation. A common kitchen and deck were available and reminded me of upstate camps. There is access not to far down the mountain road to a less crowded beach area. A 10 minute walk up the hill brings you to Cafe Milagro and the bus down to the Manual Antonio Park entrance and hub. Great location and worked for me even though I did not have a car.
I would definitely recommend and return, although it was really hot when I was there and might get a room with A/C if it was that hot again. Location and host were great.

About the Host, Anita
I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
