A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
We have 2 rooms with shared baths and 6 rooms with private baths. . A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.
This room has a private bath and ceiling fans and one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. It has a double bed, sitting area and of course shower with hot water.
Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and living room/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees. A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book. Sorry we do not accept children under 15.
I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.
The property has a large common area in the teak house with a big deck, living room and kitchen. There is also a TV room with cable. Sorry no arrivals after 6 pm
Interaction with Guests
I usually am here to receive my guests and answer any questions they might have. If for some reason I can't be here, my assistant will be here. We do need to know within an hour or so the time you will arrive. Because we are not a hotel we don't have someone here all day. I also don't accept people after 6 pm unless there is special circumstances.
We stayed one night in Casa Buena Vista near the end of March. This house is in an amazing location and has wonderful views. Anita is a wonderful host who was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was great and it gave us time to sit and chat with Anita. The beach is a steep 15 minute walk away on a dirt road. Being our first time in Manuel Antonio, we didn't realize how hot and humid it would be. Knowing that, we probably would have chosen a room with AC. The large, screened windows allow the breeze to come through, but also a lot of noise from the street and other guests.
There are numerous hotels to stay at in Manuel Antonio, and if you take the chance on this one, you won't be disappointed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. It doesn't hurt that right outside your window you might see monkeys swinging through the trees, hear dozens of birds, or watch iguanas scurrying along the roofs of other bungalows.
Anita and the staff of CBV are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They directed us to the two public beaches nearby and we had a great time. We also met Anita's neighbor who owns Casa Elena and runs a great (and reasonably priced!) fish & chips spot (currently near this hotel, it will be moving closer to the park).
Our room had a couple of ceiling fans which seemed to help, though during the middle of the day, you're better off on the porch in the hammock to stay cool. Even with the fans, one of the nights was also a bit tough to sleep through given the heat, but that's life in the tropics!
This was an awesome place. You definitely feel like you're staying in a house in the middle of the jungle. The property is large and has several individual rooms spread across the property. It feels like an adults dream tree house! The room itself was simple, yet had an amazing view (as pictured). The common area is a great place to hang out, meet other travelers, and soak in the beautiful views. Unfortunately, we weren't there long so we couldn't do much, but if you do plan on going to the Manuel Antonio area, stay here! The bus to Manuel Antonio is a short 5-8 minute uphill walk, and the local beach is a 10-15 minute downhill walk. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Thanks, Anita!
Jon and I had a wonderful time staying with Anita. She has a wonderful location making it easy to walk to the beach or into town. Anita is so knowledable about the area which is very helpful. I loved the morning breakfast and visiting with Anita and the other guests. Nice accomodations and great value.
Anita's BnB was just what we needed and then some. A friend and I traveled there in January 2015. The location is what is makes it well worth your visit. It is picturesque and from Rm2 we could see the sun come up over the beach down at Manuel Antonio, and were woken up by Howler monkeys! While this appears to have bothered some, we don't get that type of alarm in Canada and found it really cool. Anita cooked a breakfast that powered us up for a day of walking all around MA park (which is also within walking distance). Recommend eating at Fred's a night if you're headed her way!
Me and my housband stayed at casa buena vista from the 30th to January the 2nd:the accomodation is fine with good position in Manuel Antonio (walking distance from several restaurants) and closest beaches and a good value for your money. Anita has been very kind and helpful.
The common parts, with veranda and kitchen with a nice view on the forest, are great. If you like nature and its magical sounds this is your place!!
We booked with Anita on Airbnb, the process was a bit more complicated than other apps, but we appreciated the pre-booking communication with the host.
Anita made us feel very welcome from the moment we showed up. We couldn't believe the view from the room! It was large, clean, and very comfortable. Excellent value for $! Breakfast was wonderful each morning, fruit and eggs with fresh squeezed juice from local fruits. The common kitchen had a patio and great view to see monkeys jumping from tree to tree in the morning. The location was perfect, we loved it so much we stayed an extra night. It was the first place we stayed that had hot water and towels! Anita was great at suggesting local places to go and directions. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a great place to spend a peaceful, romantic getaway in one of the most beautiful areas of Manuel Antonio!
We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a beautiful place to stay.

I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
