Room 2 is a twin to room 1 and if someone wants both rooms there is an a-joining door that can be unlocked. It was probably the best view of any of my rooms but does require a few stairs to get there. There is one double bed and ceiling fans.

The space

A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
We have 2 rooms with shared baths and 6 rooms with private baths. . A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.
This room has a private bath and ceiling fans and one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. It has a double bed, sitting area and of course shower with hot water.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and living room/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees. A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book. Sorry we do not accept children under 15.

I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.

Guest access

The property has a large common area in the teak house with a big deck, living room and kitchen. There is also a TV room with cable. Sorry no arrivals after 6 pm

Interaction with guests

I usually am here to receive my guests and answer any questions they might have. If for some reason I can't be here, my assistant will be here. We do need to know within an hour or so the time you will arrive. Because we are not a hotel we don't have someone here all day. I also don't accept people after 6 pm unless there is special circumstances.

Casa Buena Vista was a charming B&B in a great location of Manuel Antonio. Anita was there to greet us when arrived even though we were later than expected. We had a rental car so it was nice to be able to park it in a locked/gated garage. The casa felt secure as well. The layout is spread out, two rooms up high, a couple rooms down below in the same building as a common area and then a separate cottage. Breakfast is served in another building below where Anita stays. There are gardens all over and beautiful trees and wildlife. We chose our room, #2, because it offered a view of the ocean. It is set on a hillside and our room was literally high up in the trees. We heard and saw lots of birds, amazing sights and sounds. It was fairly private, there is an adjacent room but no one was renting it while we were there. The shower in our private bathroom was great and very roomy!! The wifi didn't reach our room, but we were able to use it in the common area and on the cozy open air porch down below us. We were offered breakfast each morning, which was nice, coffee and juice, eggs toast and fresh fruit. The casa is about an 8 minute walk to groceries and restaurants. Actually it's more like a hike, on an uphill paved road, very windy and steep! Loved the Falafel Bar on the corner! Walking down the hill leads to a few beaches. We chose to walk about 20 minutes down to Playa Bisaenz, which is kind of hard to find, but well worth the effort. We grabbed the bus to go to the national park, about 10 minutes away. The only negative during our stay was the noise from the street. Since the casa is on a hill, cars and motorbikes really seem to rev it going up and our room was pretty close to the road. Anita did mention it might be noisy when I first inquired before booking, but we had no idea how loudly it would echo into the room! I understand the noise is not as bad in the rooms and cottage below us, but you sacrifice the ocean view. Also, the howler monkeys, will wake you in the morning with their "howls", but it may be a disruptive experience you won't want to miss! Overall a good introduction to our Costa Rican adventure.

Great views, great location, and you are sure to see plenty of wildlife. Right down the street from a trail to the beach, and down the street from some great restaurants and a small market. Awesome, secluded spot. Anita is happy to give recommendations on activities and restaurants as well!

Anita was incredibly helpful booking all of the various adventures that we did in Manuel Antonio. She was at breakfast (which was yummy!) every morning to have a friendly chat and discuss whatever questions you may have. We met several very nice other tenants while visiting and saw a handful of animals from the shared patio. It's quite close to the beach (If you go to the beach, say hi to Jesus for me!) and walking distance to several restaurants and hang out spots. Ask Anita for recommendations on what to check out, she really knows a ton about all that Monteverde has to offer! Anita also has help around the property from a lovely lady, Nuria (sp?) who was also delightful to talk to (solo en espanol) and incredibly helpful. Thanks to you both for a wonderful trip!

The room and especially the view were nice. The breakfast that Anita served every morning was very good. The place is well located. The beach next to her place is as nice but much less crowded than the Manuel Antonio beach so it was nice to be able to walk to it. However, getting to the park required us to drive.

I stayed nine nights at Casa Buena Vista and had the best room!! I woke every morning and looked out of the screen windows to the sight of the morning sun's rays shooting through the trees and what sounded like hundreds of birds chirping and in the close distance the beach with Manuel Antonio National Park at the end. A couple of mornings I heard the roars of the howler monkeys. You will see up to three types of monkeys everyday at this property as well as several types of birds and other animals that run around wild. There are two beaches a close walk away. I made several nice new friends from all over the world at this B&B. Anita and her assistant Nuria guarantee that you have a pleasant stay and are very nice and helpful giving ideas of what to do while in Manuel Antonio. This is a special property. Several little houses nestled on the side of the cliffs with lush trees some giving fruit and flowers everywhere. It is the jungle and it is an experience that I will always remember and that brings a big smile to my face when I think back!! Thank you Anita for sharing this awesome property with everyone as well as the experience of living in the jungle, even if it was only for nine nights!!

An absolutely great stay! Anita has such a charming place - so filled with architectural nostalgic charm - so often sadly missing and gone in today's world. We spent 5 wonderful days at Casa Buena Vista B&B. We were treated to mornings filled with the calls of howler monkeys and multitudes of birds in the glorious jungle surrounding her property. We saw more wildlife there than at Manuel Antonio Park! Casa Buena Vista B&B is located in the quiet and lovely hilltop area en route between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park. There are 2 fantastic beaches in walking distance below her B&B. Each morning she provides a nice breakfast - complete with the lovely linen place-settings and napkins in her breakfast room which overlooks the gorgeous and iconic beach and peninsula of Manuel Antonio. Having lived there now for 40 years, she has wonderful and interesting information to share with her guests about the area. We highly recommend a stay here!

This apartment is a lovely open and airy room with a great view on a spectacular grounds in the jungle with a number of buildings on it. It was a wonderful place to stay and spend a couple of days. Anita and another woman that helps out are both very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We would happily stay here again. It's hard to imagine a better, more genuine place to stay in this area.

I discover Manuel Antonio 41 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
