The Space

A private room with AC which has a double bed and a single. A common area is used by everyone with a large deck, living room and kitchen. We also have a TV room for everyone to use. Secure parking for up to 3 cars is available. I would not recommend it for anyone that is not physically active. There are a number of stairs. WIFI is in the common areas but not in the room.

I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.

  • Anita was very nice and helpful she had breakfast waiting every morning. Just what you want when you wake up in the jungle. The places were great. If you don't mind walking the place is perfect. Would stay again for sure. Had a great time.

  • Beautiful area, very relaxed atmosphere in Manuel Antonio.
Anita sits with the quests at breakfast and serves very good fried eggs and omelettes. The rooms are very basic, we were pleased we had spend some more on airconditioning.

  • Anita offers 8 units at her lovely location in Manuel Antonio. Because of the size, it feels more like a small hotel or inn than other bed and breakfasts we have visited: there are quite a lot of rules, and a total of 4 keys to navigate the premises. Our room was comfortable with a wonderful shower. The air-conditioning was welcome. Breakfast was good. The location on a steep hill proved somewhat challenging for us as older visitors without a car. It's a steep walk down to the beach and back, and a steep walk down and up to the main road. Although we had reserved Room 8, we were actually assigned Room 7, which is somewhat smaller than Room 8. We enjoyed the other guests we met!

  • We felt very welcome in Anita's home over New Year's. THe room was clean, spacious and a good hike to the beach-which we love! Anita and her assistant were friendly, helpful and interesting to talk with over a yummy breakfast. Anita also gave us a ride to the bus station. Thank you, Anita!

  • We had great time staying at Casa Buena Vista! Anita is a wonderful host. The rooms were spacious, clean and had AC and a hot shower. Breakfast was great and Anita accommodated my cousin who has gluten allergies, providing gluten-free bread. We were also just a few minute walk to the beach and a half-hour walk to Manuel Antonio Park. I would recommend staying at Casa Buena Vista!

  • Anita is a wonderful host. She cooks breakfast every morning and has a beautiful property right in the jungle. The wifi is hit and miss however you just have to find the right places. This property is definitely for people who like exercise as it is located in hilly terrain. About a 15 minute walk to the stunning beaches of Manuel Antonio and about a 5 minute taxi to Quepos. I would recommend this place.

  • Great communication with Anita and she really made us feel ! Loved Casa Buena Vista. Great place to stay in Manuel Antonio! Excellent hosting and review of amenities. Great location on quiet side street, but near several markets and restaurants. Really nice breakfast! For the price, the location, the hosting with personal touch it is a terrific find.
Our conversation with Anita on the background story of Manuel Antonio was fascinating as well. She has been there for many, many years and has first hand insight and knowledge of this lovely town and national park. Try to stay a few days to experience the other guests in the communal space as well as explore the area.

    Response from Anita:

Thanks Tim, I would love to visit your farm in San Isidro some day. Hope the rest of your travels with your Mom went well. Really enjoyed meeting you. Both you and your wife remind me of us when we first came to CR.

  • My friend and I loved staying at Anita's! The view was gorgeous, it was a quick walk to the beach and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are going to Manuel Antonio!

  • Rooms were really clean and Anita had thought of everything, there is a TV room, a place to hang out where you can have your morning coffee if you wish that overlooks a scenic view of the water, loads of books and the location is pretty close (walkable) to the public beach. Breakfast has fresh fruit, choice of pancakes, eggs, etc and juice and coffee, and the fruit spread was heavenly ..Location is also close to a lot of restaurants and the walk is really pleasant. Totally recommend the stay here. Will definitely go back.

About
I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
