About This Listing
Our whole upstairs is an open concept apartment with it's own locked entrance and deck. It has a view of Mt. Rainier (when it's visible!) and is surrounded by the woods. It's a big open apartment, pretty much brand new with a small kitchen with dishwasher and apartment size stove/oven. Lots of light coming from the bank of windows down the whole Southern exposure side. There's a tv/dvd as well as free WI/FI. It is pretty quiet here altho' it's a quick walk thru the woods to the center of Allyn where there are 2 restaurants and a burger joint called Bubba's. It has a walk in closet and lots of storage. We have a blow up bed, and can definitely accomodate more than 2 if you're in a group or have a couple of kids. The couch is pretty long and could also sleep another person; just depends on your needs. The apt. has new carpeting and blinds. It's ok to smoke, as long as it's outside on the deck. The road to our place requires a low gear but we do it every day and somehow live thru it! :) We do have a rooster who feels it's his duty to rise early. We also have 3 very friendly dogs, so consider this, if you have fear or allergy issues. This area is rich with things to do and explore as we are right on the tip end of the Hood Canal which is also the gateway to the Olympics. We like to go for day hikes over into the Olympics. There are lots of towns to explore further on up the Olympic Peninsula. We still haven't seen it all and we've lived here over 30 years! You could headquarter here and be in seattle in an hour and 1/2, Olympia in 50 minutes, Tacoma in an hour and Bremerton a short 1/2 hour. come see us!
This apartment is up a wooden staircase, so due caution is required because losing your balance could be serious. We live downstairs, but usually that is not an issue. You are free to smoke outside. We just ask that you are civilized and treat us with the same respect with which we will treat you. We don't have a strict check in/out time. Just let us know if you think you'll be arriving before 4 o'clock in the afternoon so we can be sure to have things ready.
Hans and Dorothy's place is very clean, cozy and peaceful. The place has everything you need and there is a lot of space. We had a great stay. Thank you!
Artsy and cozy! Dorothy was very accommodating; she greeted us when we arrived, gave us the low down and a little tour of the place!
Bob, her cat, was our roommate for the evening, he was very sweet! So make sure you are a cat lover cause he will be your best friend while you are there if you let him. Bob was pretty relaxed, although she played a little at night which kept us up, but we didn't mind.
Dorothy recommended a great place to eat about .5 mile from her house, even close enough to walk to!
Otherwise, the place was fully stocked with essentials, private entrance, and decently priced for what there was to offer!
What a lovely place to stay! Hans greeted us outside when we pulled up the driveway and was very friendly and welcoming. The home is beautiful with trees all around, a garden, and friendly dogs. Our private apartment had a lot of space and we enjoyed having the kitchen option, comfortable couch to sit on and room to enjoy the space. Everything was clean and tidy and excellent. We loved how peaceful and quiet the home was and how it was an escape from the city.
We had a wonderful stay! Great space, cozy feel. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
We had a lovely stay and the space was perfect for us: clean, comfortable and spacious, with everything we needed. Hans and Corrie were very welcoming.
My wife and I loved staying here at Hans and Dorothy's apartment! The accommodations are charming, comfortable, and warm. We stayed four nights and really enjoyed the drive back and forth to Allyn. The nights were very quiet and we ended up sleeping in every morning. The kitchen has everything you need and it would be easy to stay here for an extended trip. We enjoyed our conversations with Hans as we were coming and going. He is an ideal host. We will stay here again if we can next time we come to this beautiful area.
About the Host, Hans And Dorothy
Hans and i have lived in Allyn for 33 yrs. We are semi retired and live in a fairly secluded garage studio with a full empty loft apartment upstairs. We enjoy travelling. My husband is from Amsterdam in the Netherlands and we try to go visit family at least every 10 years or so. We enjoy backpacking, hiking, refurbishing furniture, gardening and building things. i love to work in clay and mosaic and taking on art projects around the place. We have 3 grown children with whom we backpack and occasionally still take road trips here and there. We enjoy reading and just hangin' out with friends and slummin' around our small town hitting the thrift stores. I think we are fairly easy going altho' we respect and appreciate common courtesy in dealing with others.
Great Mexican restaurant with a nice view of Case Inlet. Good margaritas and nachos. Very friendly staff.
Great local hang out. Catch local musicians on Friday nights.
If you'd like to see an impressive array of chainsaw carving art this is the place! Once touted as "the worlds largest chainsaw carving outlet" it is an Allyn must see!
The name says it all! Great burgers and milkshakes! Seating area is covered but not indoors. They have heat lamps but dress warm if its chilly out.
