Our whole upstairs is an open concept apartment with it's own locked entrance and deck. It has a view of Mt. Rainier (when it's visible!) and is surrounded by the woods. It's a big open apartment, pretty much brand new with a small kitchen with dishwasher and apartment size stove/oven. Lots of light coming from the bank of windows down the whole Southern exposure side. There's a tv/dvd as well as free WI/FI. It is pretty quiet here altho' it's a quick walk thru the woods to the center of Allyn where there are 2 restaurants and a burger joint called Bubba's. It has a walk in closet and lots of storage. We have a blow up bed, and can definitely accomodate more than 2 if you're in a group or have a couple of kids. The couch is pretty long and could also sleep another person; just depends on your needs. The apt. has new carpeting and blinds. It's ok to smoke, as long as it's outside on the deck. The road to our place requires a low gear but we do it every day and somehow live thru it! :) This area is rich with things to do and explore as we are right on the tip end of the Hood Canal which is also the gateway to the Olympics. We like to go for day hikes over into the Olympics. There are lots of towns to explore further on up the Olympic Peninsula. We still haven't seen it all and we've lived here over 30 years! You could headquarter here and be in seattle in an hour and 1/2, Olympia in 50 minutes, Tacoma in an hour and Bremerton a short 1/2 hour. come see us!
It was a pleasant getaway at Hans and Dorothy's. Hans met us as we drove up and got us settled and was very helpful and friendly both days. We met Dorothy, but didn't talk much, which is too bad. We could tell by the apartment and their surroundings that they would be interesting people to know!
The upstairs apartment was perfect -- lots of room to relax and rest and a kitchen that met our needs. We enjoyed the quilts, the diverse art, the big (!!) volumes of Gary Larson cartoons, and the view out the windows (the whole length of the upstairs). There were a few restaurants and an antique store in Allyn (close by) and we enjoyed our drive to Gig Harbor and back.
We are happy to recommend a stay here!
The space was quaint and quirky, we really enjoyed it. They had some snacks - fruit, popcorn, and a few other things that were a great addition. It was a perfect location to allow us to see and do everything we wanted! Highly recommend the space, we wished we could have stayed longer than one night. Thanks!
Hans and Dorothy were wonderful hosts! Extremely relaxed and easy going. The upstairs apartment was cute, clean, roomy, and comfortable, and they stocked it with little goodies like coffee, and a few snacks. When our car got stuck in the snow, they helped us get up and down the hill until we could get our car out! Wonderful hosts and wonderful place, we would definitely come back.
Dorothy was a very welcoming and accommodating host and the place was just as described. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommended to any traveler. Thanks!
This was our first Airbnb experience and it was better than we ever expected! The apartment is so cute and very comfortable. Dorothy and Hans are wonderful people who do everything to make you feel at home. Fresh produce from the garden, fresh chicken eggs, three awesome dogs to great you (cats too!) and the location is so relaxing! We came for a place to stay and will be leaving with new friends and great memories. This will definitely not be the last time we visit.
Great accommodations and location. Unfortunately we were only passing through the area and spent only one night. An evening filled with heavy rain.
The place was wonderful with all that you would need to be comfortable. A few miles from town but is very quiet as a result. Both of us slept very well.
Hans stepped out to greet us. Very nice man and full of local information on what there is around you.
Enjoyed the experience. Thank you.
We highly recommend this wonderful spot in Allyn Wa.The accommodation was fun and full of gorgeous antiquities. We are planning a trip back soon to do some more visiting and some cooking with our lovely hosts Dorothy & Hans.
My husband and I arrived late (around 10:30pm) and left early to get to the airport, but we enjoyed a very restful night of sleep and the personal touches of the apartment. It was clean, fully equipped, and easy to find if you follow the directions. The bed was very comfortable and having the kitchen was great too. I only wish we could have met Hans and Dorothy because we have a lot in common with them and I wanted to thank them in person for hosting us.
This review is long overdue- but better late than never! Our friends got married in Allyn this summer and we happened to find Hans and Dorothy’s excellent accommodations. It was a very quick visit, but a wonderful one at that. Their place is very comfortable and full of charm. If you are in the area this is a great place to stop by.
It was a wonderful stay with only one major drawback - that we had to leave! The apartment was everything we wanted it to be, and incredibly comfortable. We slept like logs. We enjoyed the various friendly pets, and looked for them each day. Hans and Dorothy were very friendly and helpful, and a joy to spend time with. Dorothy showed us around soon after our arrival, including introducing us to a magical swimming pond. We were frequently out during our stay, which sadly meant that we didn't spend as much time with Hans and Dorothy as we would have liked - but we plan to go back!.
