Thanks for having us hosted in your nice place at the banks of Lake Victoria. We completed our tour through Uganda in Kampala and a few minutes away from the crowd, dust and pollution of the capital, it was a fantastic place. Thanks to James for the bike tour across the lake. Good location, good breakfast and dinner and very friendly service and assistance by making plans and arranging transport.
Well organised logistics, comfortable accommodation, delicious food with great hosts to make their guests feel right at home. Great start to a Uganda vacation. Thanks Joan and Ronald!
Yellow Haven is the greatest place I've ever stayed! The rooms are very nice and as it is located right at Lake Victoria you can even access the lake from the property. Joan and Ron had been great hosts and invited us to a nice Christmas Braai. Highly recommended! Many thanks to Joan and Ron
Joan and Ronald were great hosts. Super friendly and a really funny couple. It felt like the whole time we were there we were trading funny, witty barbs and laughing. They were also very accommodating from arrival/ departure times and also helped us big time get our laundry done in no time so we could catch our flight. Awesome couple. Stay at their place!
I can't say too much about this beautiful hidden treasure! I needed to get away from the stress of the city, and of traveling. Yellow haven is tucked away in a papyrus grove on lake Victoria - absolutely serene, and everything needed for total relaxation: massage, sauna, pool, bar and food, and two storey apartments. The area is quiet and secluded, but I never felt the need to go anywhere else. Joan and Ronald arranged hiking trips, boat rides, and cycling expeditions - but I recommend relaxing pool side too! Many thanks to Joan and Ronald and their very nice staff: I shall return!!
This is probably one of the best places I have stayed at while traveling.
This place is truly a haven within Uganda and probably all of East Africa.
Located right on Lake Victoria, in Kampala, this place was designed and custom built by the hosts. The architecture has both form and function - aesthetics but also practicality.
For example, the yard is visually appealing, provides open space, views of Lake Victoria but also provides a protective cover from the hustle of Kampala.
The rooms are also clean and comforting.
There is lots of meeting space and places to work with reliable internet connection.
At the ground floor, there is a dinning area equipped with a bar and entertainment center.
However, most of all, the hosts embody the essence of Airbnb. They were wonderful and welcoming into their home. They provided dinner with drinks at a reasonable price! And were excellent at dinner conversations sharing their personal stories.
They also helped arrange all local travel and guides.
No one had to worry because their local connections and knowledge of the area helped plan for anything.
Yellow Haven is a very pleasant accommodation. Joan and Ronald are helpful and friendly. We had a perfect stay. Thank you!

About the Host, Joan & Ronald
Ronald Scheer (Dutch) and Joan Kelly (Irish) have lived in Kampala together now for 8 years. They have a IT company and outsource work from mainly Europe and the US.
Joan was born in Dublin and arrived the first time in Africa helping out for an Irish NGO during the Rwanda genocide in 1996.
Ronald was born in Tristan da Cunha and lived for 10 years in Africa before moving to the Netherlands where he studied Economics and Computer Science. He then worked internationaly for Philips, Digital Equipment, Compaq and HP before starting his own IT company in Netherlands in 2002 and arrived via this company for the first time in Uganda in 2005.
Both of them are also very different as Joan is a great singer and loves to work with people. She is also president of the Irish society in Uganda and chairwoman of Hospice Uganda.
Ronald on the otherhand loves exploring nature and trying out new technical things. Uganda is great for this, it gave him the opertunity to build a boat, infinity pool, lodges, enhancing the wetlands, setting up hiking and cycling tracks etc... While doing this he was also able in transfering the knowledge to local Ugandans to whom this gave them new business opertunities.
