What an amazing place with outstanding hosts !!!!!We have just returned from 10 days in Uganda and stayed 5 days with Joan & Ronald. They have a gorgeous house with the most beautiful outdoor spaces, a little piece of haven . Joan & Ronald are very welcoming and available at all time for any questions we had. Joan helped us with organising our stay which was very helpful. We really felt at home. The accommodation is very comfortable with all the equipments needed in a modern house, it is very spacious and situated in a quiet area. We enjoyed the infinity pool with view over the Lake Victoria. We absolutely loved the house and cannot recommended enough. If i could put 6 stars i would!!! We will be back next year!!! Once agin thank you for making our stay extra special. The Yekkache family
What can we say, we were not only spoilt by the property and surrounding but by our hosts. Spending evening with a beer in the eternity pool, watching the various Kingfisher feasting in the pond was amazing. The views over lake Victoria are also something special.
The rooms were very well equipped, comfortable and very spacious and unlike like other areas in Kampala was very quiet.
We are so glad we visited and Ronald & Joan made us fell very at home. The information they provided was spot on and they are clearly passionate about Uganda. We cannot wait to visit again.
4 of us stayed in Yellow Haven Down from 11th to 20th Jan 2014. What a location! Virtually right on the shore of Lake Victoria, Joan and Ronald have created a brilliant environment for their guests, and when the new apartments are finished, plus the kitchen, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather stay for visits to Kampala. Whether you're in the pool, or sat by the little barbecue area, or walking down to the boat landing that Ronald is building, the place is just fantastic - birds of all varieties passing through, and just a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. J and R are lovely, friendly hosts as well - very attentive to the needs of guests and full of useful information to make a stay so much more hassle free - even a great link with a local taxi firm that makes transport a breeze.
Although we didn't have a view from Yellow Haven Down, it made no difference as you're seconds away from the garden, pool and pond - not an issue. The accommodation was fine for the four of us - very little that we didn't have (maybe one more fan would have been handy), and plenty of space. The mesh/open dining area roof is really unusual and we found we were really hoping for a massive downpour so that we could see the rain coming into the apartment! That sounds weird if you've never been there, but it's absolutely nothing to get concerned about - it just adds to the ambience of it all, and is actually a feature.
We will be back in Kampala in the future, and we will definitely be back at Yellow Haven, hopefully in one of the new apartments with what will be fantastic views of the lake. Give our regards to WhiteSocks (the dog)!

Yellow haven was really great!! It feels like a rustic and nature place in the middle of a busy capital. The apartments had everything we needed! We could cook and have breakfast liked we wanted. Joan and Ronald helped us around for great trips and were there for all our questions and requests. You can do walking or cycling trips and closeby is a really nice fish market where you can take a boat to see the lake.
We would definitely book again if we ever return to kampala!!
The only thing that we found different from the pictures is that between the apartment an the pool and bbq site is a apartment building so there is no direct view over the lake from the yellow haven.
Amazing accomodation and Joan really went out of her way to help us out - even coming and collecting us from the main road when our taxi driver got lost! Lovely place, which was perfect for a real retreat from Kampala.
Great place and very welcoming hosts! It is quite close to city center, le petit bistro was a great recommendation for good local food, we enjoyed it very much. Thanks!
I travel to Kampala for work and wanted a quiet place to stay prior to a week of meetings. Joan and Ronald's place was perfect - quiet, tranquil, beautiful. They were the best hosts and I will absolutely stay there again. I recommend to anyone!
