About This Listing
Spacious 8' x 10' Private Room in 3 bed/1 bath house. Located in central Haleiwa town and world famous north shore beaches (Haleiwa Beach Park, Waimea Bay, Pipeline, Sunset Beach, etc.). 10 min drive to Schofield.
Experience Hawaii country life and common conveniences all in one spot. We are very centrally located in Haleiwa town off the main highway, everything is literally walking distance. We are steps away from world famous Matsumoto's and Haleiwa Beach Park, public busses, SUP rentals and Rainbow Bridge where you can go for a kayak ride or SUP, restaurants, markets, drug store - all within walking distance.
There is a bus stop steps away from the house.
You really wouldn't even need a car to get around where we are located. If you would prefer not to rent a car, we can offer airport pick up and/or drop off for $50 one way. This offer is dependent on our availability, please check with us first.
The North Shore is a more peaceful and tranquil paradise away from loud and busy Waikiki for a true local experience. Waikiki is but a 45 min. drive away. Please keep in mind that because we are off the main road there may be a lot of daytime noise and traffic from construction or cars but night times are usually quiet. However this still would not compare to city noise.

We are a laid back couple who both work full-time. We are usually gone during the days so you would have the house to yourself most days. We just ask that you clean up after yourself and still act as you are a guest in someone's home. We open our home up to meet new people and share the experience of the North Shore as it should be lived! If you are looking to have private amenities and prefer not to socialize or "bothered" then this may not be the place for you. We ask guests to be respectful of our working hours (use of bathroom) as we would be of any of your schedules.
We work a lot but love to have home cooked meals whenever we can. If you are around, you are welcome to join us for dinner; however, we don't guarantee any meals though. We are a somewhat social couple so sometimes have friends come by to hang out with us during the evenings or weekends.
We've just recently welcomed a baby girl to our family in July of 2013. She is a pretty mellow and happy baby but is still a baby so you would need to have a personality to welcome random visits from this little one. She goes to daycare during the day while we are at work.

Rod and Jen are a chilled out couple. The inside of the house is much nicer than the outside. The guest bedroom is beautifully decorated and the bed is very comfortable. The room is clean. The house has a key code. I would recommend trying this before you leave the house. Our code didn't work and we were outside a while - they sorted this out after a couple phone calls. We originally booked two nights, and left after one night as that is all we felt we needed. We were taking public transport. I would recommend a car in this area is preferred. If you decide to use public transport, make sure you get the bus back to town a couple hours before dark. We got stranded for a couple hours at night waiting for the bus after visiting a beach. At night the town is very quiet. We found good Mexican restaurant a about 25 min walk. The gelato shop is lovely. The bus took 4 hours to get back to Honolulu - so make sure you build in a a half day travel each direction unless you have a car as the timetable on weekends and public holidays seems to be not as frequent.
If you're looking to experience what the Oahu North Shore has to offer this is your spot. Located steps from the beach and the historic Haleiwa town. Bed is roomy and comfortable, even for a 6'4 guy. Most importantly Rod and Jen are some of the kindest and most gracious hosts I've had the pleasure of staying with and know the area inside and out. Exactly as described with an added personal touch. Highly recommend.
Nice room, comfortable bed. Rod and Jen are very laid back and accommodating. They go about their life and leave you to go about yours. Their little girl (~2years old) is a real cutie and their dog is extremely friendly (but a bit stinky :-). You couldn't ask for a better location in Haleiwa, right in town and close to the beaches.
Rod and Jen, thank you both so much for hosting us! Your house is in the perfect location and you have a beautiful home! Everything was so clean and well organised, and you both always asked if we had any questions. We'll be back for sure! Thank you, Mahalo!

About the Host, Rod & Jen
We are a laid back couple that both work full-time but love our relaxing lifestyle on the North Shore whenever we are at home. We love just hanging out at the beach and enjoy all water activities. Rod is an avid surfer and golfer and Jen's interests are in any diy project and loves to play with our daughter and dog. We love to travel and love meeting new people and love learning about new cultures.
Our dog is an incredibly well trained and friendly dog. Most people fall in love with her! She is a small/mid-sized puppy.
We've also just recently had a new addition to our family! We had a wonderful baby girl in July of 2013! She's pretty mellow as she takes after her father in that area. :)
