About this listing
House uniquely offers (1) sleeping accomodations for up to 11 persons, (2) thoroughly upgraded house with classical design set up clutter-free like a hotel suite, and (3) location on the edge of campus and close to everything by bus or cab.
In the past we rented our home for football weekends, and expanded that for most of the year.
You'll find a cozy living room with HD TV and stereo opens to a modern kitchen. There are two first-floor bedrooms (with full bath), one in the basement (with another full bath), and room for a slumber party in the loft (four beds and an air mattress). The garage is Ping Pong Central and the back yard offers a fire pit and gaming area.
No pets or smoking in the house, please. No pets. Enjoy the carpet upstairs with your bare feet. Use the bath fans when showering. You can place returnable bottles on the back porch; they're worth $.10 each. Treat the home as if it were your own. Biggest rule: Enjoy yourself!
We stayed at this home while in town for a wedding-perfect for a variety of family members staying there. The kids loved the ping pong table. The grill made sharing dinner with more family super easy! John was available but the house was in such great shape we really didn't need anything more. Thanks John!
I can't say enough about what a great weekend I had while renting out this house. If you need a place to stay in Ann Arbor that is close to all the action, yet away from big city traffic and noise, with a host who will make sure your stay is comfortable & easy, this is THE PLACE.
John was a fantastic host, and the home was beautiful. Use of the grill and outdoor space with plenty of bathrooms and sleeping space to keep us comfortable made this house a great fit for a bachelorette party of 11 guests.
Not only was there a clear set of instructions for the house, but also a delicious bag of fresh local coffee and sliced watermelon to snack on. Can't say enough about how much that was appreciated!
Everyone was raving about how nice it was to have the house near to all the activity downtown instead of having to squeeze into a hotel. Finally, I left behind a computer charger that I needed for class-John put it into Priority mail for me the next day for no cost. Absolute lifesaver. Amazing stay and highly recommend staying here.
John was a great person to work with! He was friendly, courteous, sent a lot of great information about the house ahead of time so we knew what to expect. The house itself is lovely and homey, and it felt pretty spacious; there were 4 of us families (3 families with small kids under 4) and it never felt crowded. There is plenty of parking both in the driveway and on the street (free), so we parked our 3 vehicles comfortably. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly.
John was an outstanding host and his home is perfect for a weekend getaway in Ann Arbor for a group of family and/or friends. Spacious and clean, the house easily accommodated our group of 10 who were in town for a reunion. The highlights are the location, back porch, yard and ping-pong/beer pong tables. Best yet, John left us a delicious cinnamon-raisin Zingerman's bread for our arrival. He is communicative and responsive. Can't think of a better place to stay with a group!
A great place in a great location for a weekend wedding. Plenty of room for us to feel comfortable- house was clean and well kept- a definite step up from student housing! John was communicative and helpful- would stay here again!
We rented this home from John for a wedding over Memorial Day weekend. John was super responsive and hospitable, answering questions before arrival and coordinating check in details, down to welcome bottled water and ground coffee. The location was perfect for a mixed group of UMich alums and some who had never been to MI! We could walk through campus and explore the city center during downtime between festivities. The layout of the house is ideal for large parties. We never felt cramped and you always had the space to hang as a big group in the living room or garage or porch. All in all we had a great weekend. Thanks John!
