Enjoy some of the best views in the region from the large deck of this cosy two bedroom apartment. It's a breathtaking ocean panorama with Byron Bay and it's iconic lighthouse in the distance.
Great two bedroom cabin with amazing ocean views and Byron Bay and its famous lighthouse in the distance. The apartment has two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, tv including foxtel, wifi and a fantastic outdoor seating area that takes full advantage of the view. Sunrises and full moons are spectacular from the hammocks. The apartment is joined to another apartment but is screened off and private with it's own entrance. There is also an outside shower and bath close by in our banana packing area. It's a wonderful way to rinse off after a day at the beach.
The Featherview property is a working organic banana farm. We manage the property with the best landcare and environmental practices and don't use any chemicals or harmful pesticides. Also, we focus on creating a beautiful farming landscape as much as a healthy, productive crop.
Half of the property is natural bushland with pockets of rainforest and there are walks and lookouts to enjoy it fully. There are many rare and threatened species like koalas, birds, frogs, echidnas. We also have wallabies, possums, snakes and many other creatures too. Every day we have a new surprise visitor from the natural world. Due to our commitment to wildlife conservation we can't accept requests with dogs sorry.
The local area is full of colour and culture with a leaning to alternative lifestyles. Friday's farmers market is a highlight not to be missed. The closest beach is a fifteen minute drive and the famous beaches and sights of Byron Bay are half an hour away.
The rate starts at $120 per night. It increases during holiday seasons due to the costs of maintaining the accommodation and property. We would prefer not to add a holiday loading but have been forced to by the increase in bills and water use.
Guests have access to kitchen with dishwasher, laundry, private bathroom, TV with Foxtel, comfortable beds. The accommodation has its own private entrance.

After check in we will leave you alone. We aren't too far away however so any questions you might have will be answered quickly and we're up for a chat anytime if you feel like one. A farm tour is part of the deal for anyone interested.
Mullumbimby is a cool, arty, hippie town with lots of cafes and restaurants. There's a local market on every weekend and the farmer's market every Friday morning is something not to miss.
No rules. We're hippies.
Garry and Suzy made us feel extremely welcome. They are some of the warmest, nicest people we've met. They even wrote our names with a warm message on a surfboard. Any time we had any questions they were quick to answer, giving us food options in Mullumbimby, and directions to local attractions. The house and the grounds were gorgeous. Two bedrooms, a full kitchen, bathroom, living room and a veranda with an amazing view all the way out to Byron Bay and the Julian Rocks. The house has everything you could want or need, and it is convenient to the beach at Byron Bay. You can spend all day at the beach and then drive up the hill to your own private retreat to watch the evening flight of the flying foxes and song of the cicadas and frogs. The place is amazing and the hosts are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
This stay was amazing! Gary and Susy have a wonderful place, are excellent hosts and very interesting people! We were there for 3 nights, 3 adults and a baby, and it went super nice.
The house is excellent and the views are simply perfect, the photos don't do justice to the outstanding views!!!
We had great talks about the place, the farm project, local communities (Byron Bay, Bangallow and the Mullumbimby), time flew!
Definitely recommend it and hopefully we can go back one day :)
We stayed four nights with our three kids at Featherview and absolutely loved the place. The house contains everything you need and is clean, cozy and welcoming. The views from balcony are seriously amazing. The weather was changing when we visited but it was incredible to watch the sunsets from up there, or to have an early after beach drink in the afternoon sun or to sit and watch the storm come in or even to get out in the middle of the night to watch the stars! Garry & Suzy are very friendly and welcoming hosts. We loved how our names was written on the surfboard welcoming us and how sweet to give us some organic grown bananas as well. We'd highly recommend Featherview, such a great place to unwind at!
Great house with amazing views. Couldn't have asked for a more easy going host! 100% positive feedback from all of us in the group. Highly recommend this place!
I booked Featherview for my dear friend and collegue Maria, she said the place was stunning, very comfortable and the hosts were lovely. I would definitely book here again if needed.
This was our last stop after a 3 weeks trip which included Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Lady Elliot Island. The place is really amazing: a fantastic view both on the countryside and the sea, a cool and relaxing environment (trees, birds, silence), a nice and well equipped house and a super cool host.
On top, it is close from some of the best beaches from Australia.
So, don’t hesitate !!!
This place really has breathtaking views and we just love it! It is cosy, relaxing, comfortable and very well-equipped. Garry is very nice and easy-going and he even provided us with a tour of his plantation. Would highly recommend this place! Even though the location is a little remote, but the views and the hospitality of the host would have made this worth the while! Thank you, Garry, for the tour and the fruits you provided. They were delicious!

I'm a hippie banana farmer from Mullumbimby near Byron Bay. My parents bought our special piece of paradise over thirty years ago when land was cheap. We immediately went about restoring the degraded, weed infested natural bushland which includes koala habitat and threatened ecosystems. Since 1980 we have planted over eight thousand trees grown from seed collected from local remnants and removed acres of weeds. I love rainforests can identify most species in the local area and can recognise local birds from their calls.
Recently we took over management of the degraded four hectare banana plantation and converted it to a more organic or biological system. Previously chemicals were used and soil erosion was slowly destroying the landscape. We created swales (terraces) to catch and slow water movement and planted cover crops to hold the precious topsoil in place. Our main source of fertiliser is farm grown chipped wood and compost used as a mulch. We are essentially taking carbon from the atmosphere where it is a problem and storing it in the soil where it is useful but lacking. Carbon feeds the microbial life that is essential to plant health and our farm philosophy revolves around that fact. Harmlessness is something we apply to every aspect of our project. We aim to not harm the land and respect all the life that inhabits it including microscopic life under the soil surface.
I'm married to Suzy who works as a flight attendant. We are vegan but don't care about or judge anyone else's choices. Sometimes differences make people interesting more than similarities. We accept anyone and welcome anyone into our home who is interested in nature, sustainability, alternative thinking and lifestyles.. or anyone who is respectful of our beautiful property.
I love a surf or if there's no swell a swim in the ocean. The nearest beach is clothing optional and only ten minutes drive away. We usually go to the rainforest beaches south of Byron Bay if we have the opportunity. We have spare surfboards available and beach bikes. Riding a bike along the beach from Brunswick Heads to Byron Bay at low tide is fun.
We love sharing our house and amazing property with appreciative people so send us a message if you want to discover paradise or just want to say hello. If you don't have the opportunity to stay but are in the area and are curious about what a sustainable banana farm looks like I usually can spare half an hour to show it off. There's a free banana smoothie in it for anyone who is interested enough.
