Enjoy some of the best views in the region from the large deck of this cosy two bedroom apartment. It's a breathtaking ocean panorama with Byron Bay and it's iconic lighthouse in the distance.

The space

Great two bedroom cabin with amazing ocean views and Byron Bay and its famous lighthouse in the distance. The apartment has two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, tv including foxtel, wifi and a fantastic outdoor seating area that takes full advantage of the view. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second has two single beds that can be joined together to make one king size bed if accommodating two couples. Sunrises and full moons are spectacular from the hammock. The apartment is joined to another apartment but is screened off and private with it's own entrance. There is also an outside shower and bath close by in our banana packing area. It's a wonderful way to rinse off after a day at the beach.

The Featherview property is a working organic banana farm. We manage the property with the best landcare and environmental practices and don't use any chemicals or harmful pesticides. Also, we focus on creating a beautiful farming landscape as much as a healthy, productive crop.

Half of the property is natural bushland with pockets of rainforest and there are walks and lookouts to enjoy it fully. There are many rare and threatened species like koalas, birds, frogs, echidnas. We also have wallabies, possums, snakes and many other creatures too. Every day we have a new surprise visitor from the natural world. Due to our commitment to wildlife conservation we can't accept requests with dogs sorry.

The local area is full of colour and culture with a leaning to alternative lifestyles. Friday's farmers market is a highlight not to be missed. The closest beach is a fifteen minute drive and the famous beaches and sights of Byron Bay are half an hour away.

The rate starts at $130 per night but varies according to seasonal demand. Off season rates are negotiable for singles or couples. Don't be shy to make an offer and look out for last minute standby deals.

Garry's place was immaculate and the unit provided everything we needed including a laundry, full kitchen and great shower. The logistics were all made very clear and a gas heater made everything comfortable after we came inside. The home has a beautiful deck with a stunning view of the coastline. Also, the house was close to a great little town that had many services and everything we needed. Garry is a fascinating personality with a long association with the land he is on -- a working banana farm -- such a beautiful, quiet setting. We have stayed at many airbnbs around the world and this place is charming, comfortable and has everything you need. Highly recommend!

Stunning! Hammocks, fresh bananas, majestic scenic views, and good vibes. Best AirBnB I've ever stayed at taking into account the great price and Garry's kindness. We arrived past midnight, got lost trying to find the place, and lost signal on our phones. Garry went out of his way to guide us and help us find the place. Beautiful greeting gift when we first arrived and there was even a koala in one of the trees! Would definitely rebook in the future and highly recommend.

The 3 of us had absolutely lovely 2 night stay. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The surrounding quiet and idyllic and the view magnificent! Garry greeted us immediately and was very friendly and helpful. We felt welcome and at home as soon as we stepped onto the deck. WE will definitely return for longer next time.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Featherview, with its expansive views over the countryside to Byron Bay. The two bedroom fully equipped flat with expansive porch (two hammocks and dining table with the best views in NSW) was just what we needed to recharge us after several weeks of tiring travel. Garry was right next door if we needed anything but we also felt that we had a lot of privacy as well. Beautifully located close to Byron Bay but far from the crowds and traffic and near wonderful towns like Mullumbimby and markets at Bangalow. Highly recommended

My husband and I loved our stay at Featherview. We chose it for the view the website pictures promised and we were not disappointed. In fact, the view was even more spectacular than it looks in the photos. Sunrises were glorious, with scarlet clouds and golden shafts of light blooming on the horizon while kookaburras, magpies and butcherbirds sang their morning songs. Moonrises were equally breath-taking, the nearly full moon reflecting a silvery light streaking across the bay far below us. Our host, Gary, is extremely knowledge about the local flora and fauna, and being an amateur birdwatcher and gardener myself I appreciated his generosity in sharing his expertise. From "what do you call that bird over there?" to "where do the fruit bats roost at night?", he always had the correct answer plus useful and interesting additional info to share. This ridgetop home is perched in the middle of banana farm surrounded by fairly dense vegetation. The house is fully fly-screened, and mosquitoes are not a problem indoors. But nature rules in this kind of place. Sometimes a spider or an ant or two finds its way inside. Those who want a totally bug-free experience might be more comfortable in a fancier, upscale hotel environment, where chemical insecticides are sprayed regularly. If you're of a more relaxed state of mind about nature, you will fall in love with Featherview. Thanks Gary, thanks Suzy, it was great!

I'm a hippie banana farmer from Mullumbimby near Byron Bay. My parents bought our piece of paradise over thirty years ago when the farming communities were in decline and land was cheap. We immediately went about restoring the degraded, weed infested natural bushland which includes koala habitat and threatened ecosystems. Since 1980 we have planted over eight thousand trees grown from seed collected from local remnants and removed acres of weeds. I love rainforests can identify most species in the local area and can recognise local birds from their calls.

We took over management of the degraded four hectare banana plantation and converted it to a more organic or biological system. Previously chemicals were used and soil erosion was slowly destroying the landscape. We created swales (terraces) to catch and slow water movement and planted cover crops to hold the precious topsoil in place. Our main source of fertiliser is farm grown chipped wood and compost used as a mulch. We are essentially taking carbon from the atmosphere where it is a problem and storing it in the soil where it is useful but lacking. Carbon feeds the microbial life that is essential to plant health and our farm philosophy revolves around that fact. Harmlessness is something we apply to every aspect of our project. We aim to not harm the land and respect all the life that inhabits it including microscopic life under the soil surface.

I'm married to Suzy who works as a flight attendant. We are vegan and hope guests respect and accept our philosophy. We welcome anyone into our home who is interested in nature, sustainability, peace and compassion, alternative thinking and lifestyles.. or anyone who is respectful of our beautiful property.

We love sharing our house and amazing property with appreciative people so send us a message if you want to discover paradise or just want to say hello. If you don't have the opportunity to stay but are in the area and are curious about what a sustainable banana farm looks like I usually can spare half an hour to show it off. There's a free banana smoothie in it for anyone who is interested enough.
