In a very peaceful and wealthy area, not far from the center, I rent a very nice room (14 sqm) with two single joined beds, AC, Wi-fi, a big private bathroom and balcony.
A free map of Rome with indications on pubblic trasport and guiding books are in the room.
Included in the price are clean linen, towels and breakfast with pure italian coffee, a selection of teas, milk, yoghurt, toasted bread, jam and eggs.
You can also find warm and crispy pizza and lovely cakes just around the corner, and also fresh fruits and vegies every morning coming from the surroundings and sold in a daily market nearby. I would also recommend a very well known restaurant run from a family of Rome (which is just a pearl!), and one of the best ice cream artisanal laboratory in Rome selling 6 different types of chocolate (with a little book crossing corner)!!
The room and the whole apartment are light and very well refurbished, located at the 4th floor of a 60's building without lift.
To be honest, the outside of the building may need to be restored, but the apartment was completely renewed in 2009 and all the surroundings are very well kept.
The neighborhood in early 20th Century was a holiday area for very rich people of Rome. Now you find charming villas together with 50's and 60's building in a special atmosphere that make this aerea very desirable.
The name "Città Giardino" (Garden City) should give you the sense and the colour of this special atmosphere... whereas the sounds are mainly coming from little birds...
The apartment is well connected by bus ( 90,90D, 60 express, 84, 86) with the center and the Metro A (1,5 euro ticket )
In about 25 mins you can reach the heart of Rome: Piazza Venezia (60bus, 12 stops, every 6 mins) and the Coliseum (14 stops)
In aproximately 20 minute you can reach "Termini" railway station (90 or 60L bus, 12 stops, every 7 mins) in normal trafic conditions.
The railway station "Nomentano", at 4 bus stops (84), connects you directly with Fiumicino Airport.
From Termini Station, Terravision buses go to Ciampino Airport every 20 mins.
From Mila's Home it is very easy to reach "La Sapienza" and LUISS Universities.
I used to travel a lot and I really love to meet people from other countries.
I also worked for a long time in tourism, so feel comfortable to ask me any question or information, I'll be happy to answer you and to be helpful even for what concerns your staying in Rome.
I can speak English, French, Italian and just a little of Spanish.
All the expenses and final cleanings are included in the price
CONNECTIONS from FIUMICINO airport and TERMINI STATION :
1) "Leonardo Express" train to Termini railway station in aproximately (40 minutes-14 euros). On the right side of the square en front at Termini station you find 90 or 90 D or 60L express busses at their terminal ( 12 stops, every 7 mins- 1,5 euro). Get off at "Piazza Sempione". I may send you a small map showing the way from this last stop to home. On 60L there is an automatic voice that advice for the stop "Maiella/Sempione", on 90 you have to ask someone on the bus where to get off.
Best deal ever! Mila is a great host! She is very nice and gives very clear indications about the city. We felt welcome in her appartment, which was perfect! It is located in a safe and calm neighborhood (but still downtown is only 20 minutes away) so you sleep very well! It is comfortable and VERY clean.
The place where you buy bus ticket is just down her street, very practical. And on the same street, there's a little market ("marché") where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, fish...
The bus stop is very close to her appartment. When you want to go in the historic center you have direct buses (so if you are not bus-friendly it is not complicated at all).
We even had breakfast included!
I totally recommend this place!
We were really happy to stay at Mila's place. It was so clean and cozy. The area was nice and calm. So we could relax and take rest very well, having sweet time in Roma. Although It's not very close to the center(about 15min by bus), we could not find it difficult to get to the center because of nice bus line. Easy and comfortable. I'm already missing Roma, Mila, and her place.Thank you very much!
We stayed with Mila for five nights and it was great. She was very organised and helpful, and was flexible with our check in and out times which was great. The room was quite big with a very comfortable bed and we were able to use the kitchen to cook for ourselves as well. The apartment is very close to public transport (both buses and the metro) and there are several eateries and small supermarkets nearby. We had a great time in Rome and we'd definitely stay with Mila again next time.
I pass a very good moment in Rome in Mila's apartment. The apartment was clean and Mila very nice. She indicate us the directions to visit Rome and give us a map and some bus tickets. The bus tickets was very helpful because it's very complicate to have some. You cannot by some directly in the bus, you have to find a tobacconist, a paper stand or a machine which work. So make sure you have some money if you arrive late!
The neighborhood was also very nice and quiet, perfect to have a rest.
We were very well guided by Mila to Get to the flat. Mila gave us quite usefull information at our arrival. The room and the flat are clean and neat, with clean sheets and towels.
We spent 5 night in december with outdoor tempertures around 10°C. The problem was that the appartment was quite cold. An independant heater in the room brings more comfort.
We have had an independant bathroom which is quite usefull but unfortunately the showers hot water outflaw was very poor so it was a little annoying.
Mila gaved us everything we needed for a great breakfast with italian cofee, bread, eggs,...
The acces to centre of Roma is very easy with bus.
I'm very sorry that you found the apt quite cold. There is a central heater with no timer in the apt, so it can be lighten only if at home. Anyway if I would have known that you were cold, I could have lighten for more hours to let you stay more comfortable.
The water pressure has never been very strong in the apt, but while you were here I've noticed that it was much lower than normal, perhaps because of some work in progress down the street. I apologise for that, but I couldn't have done anything for it. Now is back to normality.
Mila was a wonderful host. She was very helpful with advice on how to get around the city. Her place was very clean and comfortable. We would gladly stay there again.
Two of us spent four nights at Mila's in early November 2013. It is a good distance out from central Rome, but very do-able by bus and Mila makes sure you know the route to take. It gets you away from the city noise and bustle and allows you to experience a local Rome neighborhood.
The room Mila provides is very comfortable for two and the private bath is lovely. The kitchen is also available.
We didn't see much of Mila but she was there to meet us even when we were 90 minutes late from the airport because of a delay in customs.
Please be aware it is a 4-story walk up. That said, we recommend Mila and her accommodations for your stay in Rome.
A really lovely experience! We spent five nights in Rome in Mila's home, and it was perfect. The apartment was clean and the room was very comfortable - it even had a bookshelf full of books (including a 2013 Rome guidebook - that definitely came in handy!). Mila was a wonderful host. She provided a great selection of breakfast foods for us each morning, gave us a map and explained the bus and metro lines, and gave us a restaurant recommendation for our anniversary dinner. Overall a great stay! Grazie mille!
Mila's house was difficult to find in the dark late at night. However I soon realized that the area was great -- lots of activities in the area with quite a choice of places to eat and take out! The apartment is clean the check in was without problems. The locations is a little off the centre but great value and easy to navigate to the centre and all around Rome! We enjoyed our stay with Mila! We recommend this place.
