In search of the traditional Bali?
After almost 2 decades of traveling round South East Asia I have found my paradise and tranquility in the midst of a still typical Balinese village. Away from the typical tourist paths can be in the fishing village still know the original Bali.
Dive into the fascinating world of religion, tradition and nature. If you're looking for the traditional Bali then you're at Nyoman Parna (Sales) just right. 2 beautiful bungalows on his land and the only restaurant in town arose. Overlooking the sea, you can end both the breakfast and the evening on the porch. Frangipani Hotel is located on the eastern tip of the island between Candidasa and Tulamben, a still largely untouched corner of Bali.
The restaurant and the bungalows you have a breathtaking view of the sea, Lombok and Mount Agung.
To the secluded beach of black sand there are less than 500 meters.
Frangipani Inn got its name because of the beautiful frangipani and stand in front of each bungalow.
The second cottage is finished in autumn 2012
and has become even more exclusive in every respect.
Both bungalows have an open-air bathroom with sea view, hot shower and toilet.
If necessary, you also like the washed laundry.
NEW: FREE WIFI - in the bungalow or in the restaurant
The prices are per night for the whole bungalow including a delicious breakfast and coffee and tea for free all day long.
In the restaurant you should try the tasty food or order something special in advance.
Enjoy the sunset and chill out with a nice Gin Tonic.
Sales in recent years has traveled with me in Java, Lombok, Bali and Sumbawa. He can give you many tips or organize individual tours. Whatever you want to do, he will be happy to help you.
Although you're in a quiet corner of Bali, from there you can quickly explore all tourist destinations by motorbike or by car.
For diving in Ahmed or Tulamben with the unique swap spots, spa, hiking on Mount Agung or a nearby temple, a ceremony in Bali to attend or watch only the wood-carvers in the village? Upon request, Nyoman organize a tour on a traditional fishing boat to then grill the self-caught fish. Your determines the program!
I booked the bungalow very late in the evening for the next day, but Jörg send me a message right away asking if I needed transport. Next day I called Sales to pick me up. We had a wonderful ride from Lovina to Seraya. The road to the village is bad, but they know how to handle it very well (Kadek has a nice, positive way looking at it, he called in "dancing road", I loved it). The bungalow has a nice view and I liked laying in the hammock watching and listening to the ocean in the background. There is an extra fan available. Don't expect a perfect Wifi connection (in the restaurant none), but who needs one in such wonderful place. Life starts early in the morning, so the usual daily noises of a village will wake you up. Right now there is some building construction next to the restaurant, but it didn't bother me much. The food is tasty and prepared with love. Because I was the only guest I asked Kadek to make me whatever he liked and he really spoiled me. I often had lunch and diner in the village, because I just walked trough the area or went to the beach. Most time the waves were too strong to go for a swim and he black sand was gone, many rocks. But I loved sitting there in the wind, just relaxing. But Amed or white sand beach are nearby if you want to swim and snorkel.
On the way to the beach you will pass by Yayasan Seraya Bundar. An Indonesian non-profit organisation, established in 2009 in the village of Seraya, in cooperation with the WINS project and the Dutch Foundation Stichting Bali Bundar. They would like to show you their place so you should pay a vistit there, if you like.
Sales and Kadek are perfect hosts, willing to help you the best they can. You just ask them what you want to know or what to do. They can give you al the information you need. They took me to a couple of ceremonies in the village and I had daytrips on the motorbike with Kadek. After diner we just sat and talked about life, culture and religion, all kind of things. And we also had a good laughg togehter, I enjoyed so much. This was what I was looking for!
I travelled alone and I felt very welcome and at ease at Frangipani Inn. For me it felt like 'home'. So if you are looking for real Bali life, no tourist, this is the place to be. I know for sure I will return. Sampai (website hidden) I stayed in Bungalow Sea View 1, not 2!
We spent an entire week in the frangipani inn and its definitly a place you should stay at least 4-5 night. Its so quiet and different from the tourists-sites in bali. We spent 4 weeks in bali and had the best food in the restaurant belonging to frangipani. Thanks Kadek!!!! We are still talking about the red snappers and the french fries! Kadek wasn't just our dream-chef every night, he also went fishing with us and took us to the cock fighting. We were also lucky to meet Jörg 2 days before he left and he was very helpful and had the best good-bye party ever with a lot of people from the village. We are still talking about that party too
We had a fantastic time staying at frangipani Inn.
It was so peaceful and rural. We loved seeing and experiencing the life of a small Bali village.
The bungalo was lovely and clean, we slept really well there.
Our hosts were so warm and kind.
We had quite a few dinners there and they were fantastic...really. I'm a chef myself and we still talk about the food there.
Hopefully we will be able to come back there again one day.
Thank you frangipani team!
Our stay at Frangipani Inn was among the best holidays we've had so far: tranquil, magnificent views, authentic, clean & comfortable rooms, delicious food, friendly people, well organised pick up service, fast & helpful information before our arrival, welcoming host(s), interesting & at the same time funny conversations, ...
Thanks for making our first days in Bali so awesome. :-)
A little piece of heaven!
So there ist Bali .... and there is Bali
If you are looking for a tranquil, peaceful taste of the real deal then this is the place you are looking for. Just as beautiful as on the pictures the little bungalow immediately makes you feel like home. The only sounds to accompany your sleep are the ocean, wind and some of the animals around. The village and the villages in the area are full of lovely people with great lunches to be had at the local Warungs along the way. But of course not much can beat having your own cook on site after a long day of adventures. Sales was sure to surprise us with something new and delicious every night - and always fresh from the market. It's great (if you don't mind riding yourself) to rent a motorbike and just discover, the road going up the Northwest Coast is gorgeous. The hike up to Lempuyang (dirt/jungle track not the stairs) is a little bit of a challenge but ever so worth it. And if it's swimming you are after it's just a little ride the one way to Amed or the other way to White Sand Beach ...and beaches do not really get much better.
The best thing is. You are not stuck in a hotel, next to lots of other hotels with lots of tourists. You are independent and in the countryside, just a part of the way people live there. And you can still experience anything you like and always have Sales to ask for advice.
Stay at least a week - we didn't want to go after 4,5 days. :) After all there is also a lovely coastline right down by the house or the terrace itself just to relax on and so much more to see.

Ich bin SAP-Berater und lade meine Batterien immer wieder auf Bali auf.
Frangipani Inn hat seinen Namen wegen der wunderschönen Frangipaniblüten bekommen, die vor jedem Bungalow stehen.
