The Space

Luxurious, spacious and eclectic is the only description of The Rabbit Warren - this wonderfully re-furbished suite. Encapsulated in a 1925 traditionally built Singaporean shophouse, this is 1 of 3 newly refurbished suites on the 2nd floor of this beautiful traditional building.
Located in the Joo Chiat area on Singapore's East Coast and which has undergone a rapid gentrification.
The room is above a restaurant with the added advantage of having been sound proofed from below to minimize disturbance and yet provide easy access when guests would like to try a meal in the wonderful Rabbit Carrot Gun.

Transport
10 minutes from Changi International Airport and 10 minutes from Singapore's CBD (central business district)
Taxis are plentiful and cheap by international standards. Buses are frequent should you choose the communal taxi.
The Joo Chiat / Katong area is a great location from which to explore all that Singapore has to offer or simply as an alternative to staying in soulless business hotels.

Consider The Rabbit Warren as your home away from home whilst in Singapore!!

Maid service can be arranged as well as outside catering for functions

  • I enjoyed a lot staying in the Kubric Sute at Rabbit Carrot Gun. Richard and his wife have been great hosts. The interiour of the room is wonderful and it is an exelent experience enjoying a historical builind in such a way.
In the Restaurant Rabbit Carrot Gund which is just based on the ground floor of the same building you can enjoy a good coffee & breakfast. In the evening they serve great dinners and excellent beer.

  • My hubby and I stayed in the Kubric suite for a week and we both agreed that it has been very enjoyable. It was a very pleasant experience for us to stay in this charming restored shophouse and we totally dig the decor of the room. This place is conveniently located and it's very easily accessible via public transport. For those who are keen to live away from the city center, I would definitely recommend this area. Right downstairs, there is a restaurant and bar (also owned by them) with the most wonderful food and service. There are a couple of malls nearby where you can find pretty much everything you need.
Richard was very kind to meet us up on a hot Monday afternoon to pass us the keys as the restaurant was closed on Mondays. We are also very grateful as there is a lady who comes and clean up the apt occasionally. What's better than coming back to a mess-free room?
The only downside was that the music from the bar/restaurant downstairs can be pretty audible and thus, not good for early sleepers (or those who sleeps till noon because they serve breakfast at 9am). Good thing is, the music doesn't last all night. I think it stops around midnight or earlier. My suggestion is to just hang out and enjoy a (email hidden) till its closing time. TADAHHHH! Problem solved. Then, wake up early and take a walk around the area where there are tons of old or restored shophouses, cafes and restaurants. It's a good way to observe and experience the local lifestyle in Singapore.
In conclusion, this place is highly recommended for travelers who would like to immerse themselves in the (in my opinion) most charming area of Singapore and yet not wander too far away from the city center. Love it! Will definitely be back!

  • My stay at Rabbit Carrot Gun was awesome. Location is great with lots of places to eat within the area. Don't forget to have breakfast at the coffee shop below. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing place and have a homey vibe tucked away in the east area.

  • This place is great. Well furnished and above a very trendy cafe and bar. The area is very up and coming and easy to access the city. The rooms and set out very nicely with some great art pieces. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. We'd definitely stay there again.

  • Great room over a very good restaurant. Location is nice because you are away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area but are a quick taxi or metro ride away. There is some street noise, but that's to be expected considering it is a shophouse. A great way to stay in Singapore!

  • Remarkably restored room. It was clean and comfortable. Location cannot be better. Be in a bustling and hip neighborhood with tons of local flavor and yet be minutes from the center of town.
Lord Trenchard was a fuss-free, easy going host. HIghly recommended.

  • 10/10 stay, 10 mins and $1.50 bus to city right outside. 15 min to airport with Food and shopping close. What more could you want? I would highly recommend.

About
Enjoyed saving, refurbishing and re-developing one of Singapore's heritage shophouses so much, decided to go one step further. Refurbishing another 2 shophouses nearby which includes 5 more AirBnB suites and an eclectic modern European restaurant - Rabbit Carrot Gun - and gastro bar - The Trenchard Arms. Been based in Singapore for 12 years, my interests are very broad and include but are not limited to; architecture, interior design, wine, rugby, Scouts. Founding partner in a management consultancy group, international property developer group and lately an accidental restauranteur, landlord and boutique hotelier. All wonderful and still my proudest achievement are my two children.
