Comfortable historic house with full access to kitchen & common living spaces. A pleasant half hour walk to the Historic District. Very close to the Italian Market & other tourist destinations. Adorable cats to keep you company.
Historic, preserved Philadelphia row-home with many charming, original details. Two gorgeous rescue cats are a bonus.
Walk to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall & the Constitution Center in less than thirty minutes. Bus stops just steps away & gets you downtown in minutes. Forty minute walk/20 minute bus to Convention Center. Many, many bars, restaurants and coffee shops within a few blocks. Plenty of free, safe, unrestricted on-street parking in the immediate vicinity.
Guest room is one flight up from the ground floor, the spiral staircase is steep and narrow - it has lots of historic charm & character, but could be difficult for people with physical limitations. Home is not set up to be safe for small children (but older kids/teens are welcome.)
Bed in room is a premium, comfortable full-size (54" x 75") futon on a frame. Room is approx 12 x 11' (132 sq ft, 12.26 sq m.) Sheer curtains backed by mini-blinds allow you to control light levels.
Bathroom has a shower stall, and no bathtub. I share the shower, but otherwise use another bathroom. This bathroom will be almost private for you, as I will usually shower when you are not here.
You're welcome to use the kitchen, living room, and garden. You will be given house keys so you can come & go as you please. A do-it-yourself breakfast is provided; cereal, bread, yogurt, fruit, orange juice, coffee & tea are generally available. You will have full access to the kitchen. Tea, coffee and filtered water are available any time.
Fast WiFi throughout the house & garden. There is no television on the premises.
Kitchen, my award-winning garden, all common areas.
Interaction with Guests
We will be sharing space in a small row home, so I'll be generally available to answer all of your questions. Your room is private to you during your stay, so while I'll be totally accessible to you, you'll have as much privacy as you desire.
I live just close enough to downtown (Center City) to be able to walk there in 15 minutes, and just far enough outside of it to be quiet, with readily available, free parking. It's the best of both worlds, with coffee shops & restaurants within a couple of blocks of my home.
You can easily walk to the historic area (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc) from my home. There are two separate bus lines that stop right around the corner from my house - couldn't be easier!

We had a wonderful stay in Philly. Carrie is very welcoming and gave us good tips about what to do in town. There is also the possibility to make breakfast in the kitchen. The house is cute and very accessible either by car (free parking on the adjacent streets) or by bus (stop next in front of the house). Her cats are also lovely! We strongly recommend this place!
Carrie is a warm, caring host with deep knowledge and affection for Philadelphia, and who wants her guests to enjoy it. I lived in Philly a long time ago and am self-sufficient there, but in talking with Carrie it's clear that she can provide excellent guidance, on many levels, for food, entertainment and the like. Her home is small and cozy - an older home with some age-related edges and 2 cats (great cats, by the way), but with fine bones and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is great- recently gentrified, easy walking to the Italian market, the restaurants along Passyunk Ave, and just cross north over Washington Ave. and you are in a really neat neighborhood that is a blast to walk through. Carrie has an amazing urban garden alongside her home - I had blustery weather and was not able to enjoy it, but that garden provides some serious urban refuge. The guest room is comfortable, with an excellent futon on a frame. But I have to come back to Carrie herself - a marvelous hostess. Unless you have a cat problem, do not hesitate to stay here!
I had a great time staying with Carrie! Her house is in a perfect location with great restaurants. She was extremely accommodating and a gracious host. Thank you for helping to make my first trip to Philadelphia a memorable one.
Carrie is a wonderful host, I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Philly! Her place is warm and charming, with a comfortable bed and a private bathroom. Major attractions are within walking distance, and Carrie provided very helpful advise on making the most of my short stay in the city. Carrie was very accommodating with my busy conference schedule, and her cozy house made me feel like coming home after a long day. Thank you Carrie!
Awesome stay! Stayed here while relocating to Philly for work. Very safe and walkable neighborhood and easy walk to all major attractions. Lots of great restaurants and shops nearby. House was comfortable and clean, warmly decorated. Bed was super comfy. Carrie is a wonderful and warm host. She is a great resource on Philly lifestyle and things to do. Really glad I stayed here.
I had a great time staying with Carrie and felt I had made another friend. She was warm and accommodating and I had a great time getting to know her. Her place is cute and cozy as well as clean with a comfy bed. Very convenient for my needs with easy access to 95. Thanks so much Carrie!
Carrie gave us the feeling of beeing welcome in her wonderful home for every second of our stay! She was a wonderful host and never tired of answering our questions about Philly. Her apartment is really cozy and tidy (we loved the bed most, it was so comfy). We also had a privat bathroom, with a big variety of little shampoos and cremes.
The layer of her apartment is perfect. You can walk everywhere in a few minutes.
Carrie was our first air bnb experience and we can't get a better match!
