Warm, comfortable historic house with full access to kitchen & common living spaces. A pleasant walk to the Historic District, Italian Market & other tourist destinations. Adorable cats to keep you company.
Walk to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall & the Constitution Center in less than thirty minutes (15 blocks), or take the bus to the Historic District & museums & arrive in ten minutes.
One block from The Mummers Museum and six blocks from our famous Italian Market. Plenty of free, safe, unrestricted on-street parking in the immediate vicinity. A ten minute walk (8 blocks) to South Street shops and restaurants, and many, many bars, restaurants and coffee shops within a few blocks.
Historic, preserved Philadelphia row-home with many charming, original details. You will have quiet and privacy with only me, the cats, and sometimes my quiet &
friendly boyfriend sharing the house with you. I share this house with three social cats, so guests should be non-allergic, and enjoy the company of cats.
Bed in room is a premium, comfortable full-sized futon on a frame. Bedroom is freshly painted & newly re-decorated. Sheer curtains backed by mini-blinds allow you to control light. My award-winning garden is the perfect place to sit for a cup of coffee, glass of wine & conversation.
Bathroom has a shower stall, and no bathtub. I share this shower, as I have a bathroom without a shower off of my own bedroom - this bathroom will be almost private for you, as I will most likely shower when you are not here (usually in the afternoon) and will otherwise use the other bathroom.
You're welcome to use the kitchen, living room, and, of course, the garden. You will be given house keys so you can come & go as you please. A do-it-yourself breakfast is provided; cereal, bread, yogurt, cheese, fruit, orange juice, coffee & tea are generally available. You will have full access to the kitchen. I can tell you where the nearest grocery stores are if you'd like to shop, cook and eat meals at home. Tea, coffee and filtered water are available any time of day or night - help yourself.
Fast WiFi throughout the house & garden. There is no television on the premises. There is space cleared for you in bedside tables, the dresser & a closet. Clean linens & towels provided.
Typical of historic Philadelphia row-home architecture, my spiral staircase is steep and narrow. It has lots of charm and character, but it could be difficult for people with physical limitations - may not be recommended for those with mobility issues.
I can usually be flexible on both check-in & check-out times. I don't have a smartphone, or Internet access at work, but I check my email regularly when I am home and respond to every inquiry.
***Home is shared with three sociable cats***
Kitchen, my award-winning garden, all common areas.
We will be sharing space in a cozy home, so I'll be generally available to answer all of your questions. Your room is private to you during your stay, so while I'll be totally accessible to you, you'll have as much privacy as you desire.
I live just close enough to downtown (Center City) to be able to walk there in 15 minutes, and just far enough outside of it to be quiet, and for parking to be free & available. It's the best of both wolds, with coffee shops & restaurants within a block or two of my home.
There are two separate bus lines that stop right around the corner from my house - couldn't be easier!
If you like the company of cats, and are not allergic - this is the place for you! I do my best to keep the house clean & vacuumed, and my cats are 100% litter trained, so, while the house would not be good for allergic guests, it is clean in a pet-friendly way.

Carrie is a great host. We feel comfortable to stay in her (website hidden) is very convenient to walk around the downtown area from Carrie's home. l recommend you to choose Carrie's house.
Carrie was a great host! So were the cats. The house had a homey feel and I felt quite comfortable. I went to school in Philly so I already knew the area. There is a bus stop right outside the house making it convenient to get into the Center city area. It is also generally only about a 30 minute walk depending where you want to go. Carrie had plenty of resources for things to do locally set up in the room. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and there was breakfast available along with coffee and tea.
Check-in/checkout was a breeze. We discussed times via email and were able to work everything out. She was quite flexible on this, even with me changing my arrival time a few times.
There are plenty of Asian restaurants and supermarkets down the street. And Federal Donuts is just around the corner!
Being new to airbnb, I Initially thought it would be a bit strange to stay with someone but I felt right at home and loved having talks over coffee with Carrie. It was not strange at all and the cats kept me company during my free time. =) The cats also would keep out of the room if you keep the doors closed.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. It was a comfortable and affordable stay in a quaint South Philly home.
I am a regular guest that stays at Carrie's house she is a Great Host who has made my 4th stay as enjoyable as the last three. The room is comfortable, location is excellent with public transportation a few steps from the front door of her home. So if your looking for a place on airbnb I Highly recommend choosing What Carrie has to offer a Traveler!!!!
Staying at Carrie's place was a great choice! Her place is conveniently located and she is a terrific host. It was freezing outside, but her home and bed are cozy and warm. The cats made me feel right at home.
I spent 3 days at Carrie's house and loved it.
She gave the perfect name to her place. The location is perfect to visit the Historic Philadelphia. I walked every day from her place and enjoyed it a lot. Carrie is a very welcoming host and it was great to share a cup of tea in the evening and chat of my day,our experiences... She provides a breakfast if you want to. I went out for brunch in a very nice place ( Farmicia) 10 mn walk from her place on the way to the visitor center,
I enjoyed as well be in the living room as spending some time in my cosy bedroom. The bedroom fits 2 persons as well.
Carrie even gave me a ride to the airport !
If you're looking for a good location and enjoy meeting very nice people when you're travelling this is the place !
Thank you Carrie
Carrie is such an easy going and friendly person. I stayed at her home for 2 nights. The house is very pretty, clean and well organized. The bed is amazing...I have not slept so well in a while. The cats are pretty adorable. Her house is close enough to the airport and in a nice neighborhood and it is close to the "historical area".
I would highly recommend choosing her as your host because she does make you feel at home.
Staying with Carrie was a great experience. Her place is well located and very cozy. Carrie was really helpful !
Carrie is a great host ! Very welcoming, she makes you feel like home ! Her house is cosy, clean and well situated. The room is very quiet and the bed very confortable. Her cats are adorable. A nice breakfast is provided. Carrie also gives us good tips about the city, restaurants and she even gave us a ride to the train station to reach the airport. She was a great conversation partner and always friendly ! Next time I visit Philadelphia, I would definitely come back to Carrie’s !
Carrie was a great host. She not only provided us with a nice and clean home which was close to Philadelphia´s center but also gave us some great tips where to go in Philadelphia and how to get there. She was a grat conversation partner and was friendly and respectful all the time. In addition, her cats were very cute. I can recommend staying at Carrie´s place to everyone as I would return to her when I would have the chance to get to Philadelphia again.
Carrie was such a gracious host. Her home was really cozy and the room comfortable. Her cats were super chill and unobtrusive. Our trip to Philly was great and really enjoyed our time exploring. Much of the city's attractions are within reach, either on foot or with the two bus lines that just around the corner. We would absolutely recommend a stay at Carrie's.
