A great place to stay.
What a lovely way to experience Kyoto, the accomodation was perfect, rather spacious and tucked away in a peaceful side street. Nobu was very helpful, he had maps of places to go and things to do in Kyoto including recommended spots for dinner. Thank you for having us and for making our stay in Kyoto very enjoyable.
A fabulous experience!
The NENECO house is tidy and clean. Meanwhile, it is very convenient to go to everywhere by bus.
And as a warm host, Nobu showed us around the house and told us the general travel information about Kyoto.
Thank you Nobu~
It was very nice of Nobu to meet us upon our arrival. We took a Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto station with our JR Pass (it was a money saving choice). Nobu showed us around the apartment of where and how things work in a Japanese home. Nobu also provided us with a lot of information of bus routes, sites to see, nearby restaurants and grocery stores. The apartment located at very convenient area. It was very easy to access all of the sights that we wanted to see.
Nobu was very fast and answering all of our questions prior to our trip and had mentioned to also contact him with any questions during our stay which put our mind at ease (just in case there was any difficulties). Luckily, we didn't have any issues during our stay.
There were 3 of us; my husband's mother, my husband and I. We were so in love with the house. It was very spacious, clean and felt very Japanese. The futons were very comfortable and warm during our winter stay. We loved sitting under the Kotatsu (heated table), talking and watching but not understanding Japanese TV. Wifi at the house made it very convenient to plan our days of sightseeing.
The bathroom was very spacious with liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. Had a nice size bath with very hot water and shower.
We didn't use the kitchen to cook anything but it had all the amenities provided.
Buses are the more convenient way to travel around Kyoto and it was closer to Nobu's apartment than the train station. There are English destinations provided on the bus and for the time we were there, the buses run smoothly and frequently. Single ride costs 230 yen or it'll safe you more money if you travel more than twice during the day to buy a day pass for 500 yen (Nobu explained to us)
Good Apps to downloaded prior to the trip that can be useful if you don't speak or read Japanese are (website hidden) Translate (need wifi), Waygo (had some troubles reading sometimes) and a book of important phrases in Japanese. Hyperdia (need wifi) is very good for finding train routes and calculate fares (we didn't use this in Kyoto). And we did our own MyMap through (website hidden) of places to eat and see which was very useful (need wifi)
The place had everything what we needed and very clean!
The location is perfect!
Nobuya was very welcoming and explained things thoroughly.
We really enjoyed our stay in Nene house (2 adults and 2 children aged 7and9). Nobu-san was thee to meet us at the time that we had arranged and gave us a run down on the house and bus service which was invaluable. The house is in a great position to use the bus system which is very easy to navigate. Nobu-san has put together information on local restaurants, convenience stores and ATM's etc which we found very useful. The house had everything we needed, was clean and was very quiet. We visited in winter but were very warm in the house- loved the light-as-air doonas and heater under the table. We loved coming back to the house after a day of adventures in Kyoto. Nobu-san was always prompt with his responses to my queries and was great to deal with. Thank you Nobu-san!!
This was a great spot! Nobuya was so helpful, welcoming and professional. He shared info on local restaurants, bus routes and of course on all the ins and outs of the house. And what a great house it was! This was the ideal home base from which to explore beautiful Kyoto.
We loved staying in Nobu's Machiya townhouse. The location was perfect for exploring Kyoto. We were not used to sleeping on a futon ( even with such lovely bedding) but waking up inside a magic lantern made it very worthwhile.
Nobu was very helpful, detailing the house and suggesting restaurants and bus routes.
We would recommend staying here for anyone who wanted an authentic Japanese experience.
