The host made me feel right at home and was very helpful in every way possible. The hutoung was great and had a great setting and was in a very unique neighborhood. If you are going to Kelly's for the first time I would suggest you do it in the day time and have the phone number ready for the driver to call for directions. It was very hard for taxi drivers to find or even take you to the location, depending on what side of the city you are on, but overall I would stay again as there is a shopping mall less than 5 blocks from Kelly's, it was very close to the Forbidden City and in the center of Beijing. I found the subway was the easiest and most affordable way to get around. The staff was excellent and the room was spotless.
Kelly's was brilliant. Such a unique place to stay. They provide breakfast and room cleaning each day. The hostel is in a nice quiet hutong but depending on who else is staying, it can sometimes get a bit noisy in the courtyard if people don't have the same bedtime as you. Mark was the best, before I ever stepped outside he would always check that I knew where I was going. They can also take care of your laundry. Can't recommend enough!
---Simple but unique.
---many English travel guide book.
---not too easy to find the spot, suggest to arrive during daylight.
My reservation for Kelly's got lost in the email shuffle, so I never stayed there. It appeared clean and quaint from the few min I spent there. The employee Mark I spoke with was fantastic and helped me get a reservation somewhere else.
