Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Perfect holidays for us thanks to Mr.&Mrs. Gonsalves. We stayed there like at home. Even if all the beaches in Colva were so beautiful, we used to stay more in the flat, resting, cooking and watching TV (as it was arise cricket match season.) ;-) The place was as we expected from the photos on the Airbnb. Comfortable, independent, neat and convenient with all essential equipments. Galbina(Mrs.Gonsalves) is so kind and always available when we had any requirement. I wish to come back to the Colva Homes soon. I miss every moment there...

  • My friend and I had an amazing time staying here for one week.

Milward was very prompt and clear with the information regarding the apartment, and though our train arrived late in Goa, Mr. and Mrs. Gonsalves were prompt in picking us up and dropping us off at the apartment and assisted in making our stay very comfortable.

The apartment itself was quite nice and clean with all amenities working as listed. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the lovely Colva beach and ideally located for activities and transportation. We wound up getting a good price on some two wheelers and were able to venture up north and down south as well.

All in all, a fantastic value and wonderful apartment if you are planning a trip to Goa. Highly recommended.

  • Stayed here with my wife for 3 days. Overall stay was comfortable and relaxing.

    Check in:

we reached in afternoon, as we arrived around half an hour to hour late as compared to scheduled arrival time, had informed same to Mrs. Gonsalves. She instructed me to reach icici atm. Mr. & Mrs. Gonsalves reached there within 15 - 20 mins.(had to wait till that time) They were stuck in some work, otherwise they would have come to pick us up at the station.

    The Appartment

Appartment is as discribed and as seen in photographs. Nice, clean, airy and illuminated. Spacious for two. Even extra person can be accomodated easily. Drawing room + kitchen with Basic TV, Fridge in nice working condition, dining table, a sofa, working kitchen with gas stove, all basic utencils, hot water kettle, glasses, mugs, knife, and all basic requirements atleast to cook your breakfast, snacks etc. only thing is you have to get spices, oil, butter etc. and that too will be available from near by shops. If you are serious about cooking, a small vegetable shop is also nearby.

Amenities - Wifi was not working, which Mr. Gonsalves tried to sort out. But i myself asked him not to worry, as internet was not primary requirement for me, as i was on holiday. And moreover i had already data plan working on my phone, so dint needed it. Even he came next day to try and fix it. however it dint work. But for me it was not the (website hidden) working fine. Bathroom - nice clean and spacious. Water in bathroom was not there in evening on second day. But upon informing it was re installed late by night. Meanwhile Mr. Gonsalves arranged buckets of water for emergency requirements.

In and around: - colva beach is at walking distance. Benaulim, varaca, etc. other beaches in and around. Two wheelers are available on rent all around to reach places like palolem and all.

Overall it was a very nice stay, with kind hosting of Mr. & Mrs. Gonsalves. They made us feel very comfortable and had a great stay in south goa.

Surely recommend for stay in south goa and 100% value for money.

  • The place has a great location being a 5 minute walk to the beach and less then that to a good little grocery store, many restaurants, and fresh fish market (get there before 11am for the best fish).

Milward's parents offered great tips for what to do and see. They were also very helpful with all our questions. Milward communicated quickly to our questions as well.

The only tip is that you should be ready for the power to go out for a few minutes everyday. This is NOT the fault of Milward. It is because of the infrastructure and development status of Goa.

Overall this is a nice place to stay with many positive amenities.

  • I arrived from Margao at 0800 and after a short while met the lady caretaker who let me in the room. Milwars Mum arrived later in the Morning to see if everything was OK and collect my documentation.
The apartment have everything i needed for my stay the WiFi was good enough for me to make video calls via (website hidden) to my family in the UK . The apartment without fan is quite hot and I only used the AC at night while awake to cool the room down but did not require it for sleeping. The cable TV has BBC world and CNN. Each day I went to the beach the lady caretaker kept my keys and passed on any concerns I had to Milwards Mum. The condition of the apartment is what you'd expect at this level and was more than comfortable enough for my needs in this location. The day I left I made the mistake of thinking my train left at 9.20pm (actually left at 3.30pm) and as no one else was taking the room that day Milwards Mum allowed me to check out late which made a huge difference to my travel plans tip if you miss your train as i did head to the travel agency opposite the Bank of India in Margao last bus for Bangalore 8.45pm

  • First look at the place and I was shattered. It was no where close to what I expected from the photos or reviews left by others. A very shabby and ill-maintained building with no greenery or garden or anything. Plus the room was double booked. There was one other couple who was also facing the same problem. It took almost 3 hrs before the problem was sorted out, with the foreign guests thrown out when we threatened to go to the police. What a pity story. On top of it, the attitude was "We dont prefer Indian guests and dont care for your difficulties" . If this was the case, they should have clearly mentioned the "No Indians"policy on the site.

A brief outline of what happened. We reached the place 1-2 hrs earlier to check-in and leave our baggage. But it turned out the foreign guests in the room were out and Milwards parents, who were around, had no clue whether they had checked out or not. Finally with no information on the guests, the lock of the door had to be forced open to check the status. From the words of the caretakers this was a regular activity as guests left without handing back the room key and hence he didnt have spare keys to most of the rooms. While I waited in the 40 degree heat with my 3yr old daughter, for the guests to return, Milwards parents were neither ready to refund the money nor give any confirmation on the availability of the room. In short we wasted our valuable 3-4 hrs before we finally got our room.

The room offered to us was a bare one with no sofa or chairs. There was just the bed with an AC, a kitchenette with some dirty pans, a TV and a fridge. No towels or soap in the bath, drinking water, extra sheets etc. I have no idea if internet or hot water was available, but by the looks I dont think so. Frankly, it was nowhere close to the pictures posted in this site. The reason provided was that since I was staying only for a night, they felt these amenities were not required. Still I was charged the same rate as the others.

Regarding safety, this place dosent have even the basic facilities. The keys of the locks could be with previous guests, who could enter the room while you are out. I saw the man, whom I assume is the caretaker, for just 10-15 mins while the entire issue was happening. I left for the beach and came back at 11pm. The gates were open with neither any security nor the caretaker at the reception. When I checked out at 5am next day morning, there still was no one around and I left leaving the key/padlock on the door.

This is the actual situation of Colva Holiday homes. The one star is for Milwards parents who tried their best to pacify us all along.

    Response from Milward:

Firose informs he will arrive by 4pm - 5pm but arrives at 12:30pm. He advised that he needs a place only to store his luggage and he has to go to Panjim. I offered him place to store the luggage and also advised him that the apartment will not be ready and he agreed to it but still he writes that the apartment was not ready. This is an apartment and most of the guest use their own locks.
Due to his persistent request the first available apartment was provided and which he agreed to check - in.
I really speechless. Maybe he was expecting a hotel type of services and not an apartment.

  • The amenities were as described on the site and the apartment was well maintained. The building itself is a bit run down but the apartment is nice and we felt like at home. No sofa in the living room but we didn't care much about that.
There were some initial hiccups like not being able to reach the host on the phone on the day of our arrival and the kitchen wasn't functional for the first 24 hrs because of leaking gas regulator.
The host lives abroad but we were in touch over internet.
His parents take care of most of the practical things and are welcoming and kind.
The location is quiet and some 10 mins walk away from the beach.
All in all we were satisfied with our stay here.

  • Hello,
The stay was very comfortable. The space was as described in the available amenities. Milward's parents live close by hence they were of immense help. The place is very close to the beach and other restaurants around colva. They provide towels, the bathroom had no issues with it. No pests or cockroaches- essentially the place was very well maintained and cleaned well. The NeW yEAR's parties on the beach were epic and this place also has a tourist agency offering tours of north and south goa. Milward was very helpful in reaching out and making sure we arrived safely.

    Thank you very much!
